Is Gambling Gender Based?

I believe a better way to explain this is to say that men are more risk takers than women are, women are very fearful when it comes to things that will cause them to engage in any form of risk, this is why we often see some women who manage to place a few bet break down and cry like a baby when they lose the bet as well as the money, the reason for them crying is that at that point they lost that money, they realize other issues in their life they would have used that money to solve.

I've encountered this a couple of times both online and offline, higher percentage of women lack the balls to become hardcore gamblers because they lack the mind for risk taking, this is the only explanation I will believe as to why women are not generally interested in gambling.

After reading what you said about men being more willing to take risks than women, I agree with that.

Because what I think is that some men in my environment tend to have financial problems and they choose gambling in the hope of winning, so it makes sense to say that they are taking risks.

And the point is that gambling is for everyone, it's just that men dominate it.

Then based on your post, one could say that men are forced to take risks, because they are mostly the breadwinners in their families. They have to earn money, and if their main job doesn’t provide enough income, they may look for other ways to make money. The bad thing is that for such people the choice often comes down to gambling, but it seems to me that you can’t really earn much that way.

Gambling isn’t strictly gender based but there are patterns. Men probably tend to gamble more often and take bigger risks especially with sports betting and casinos.

Women are more likely to gamble occasionally and prefer games like bingo or lotteries. These differences are influenced more by social norms, marketing and opportunity than by biology. Anyone regardless of gender can develop gambling habits or problems though.

Or men can be communicating about themselves mostly and dont have full idea what women are doing and how they are spending time. There is a stereotype that women only do shopping and keep the house. Men are so used to hang out around men, that they dont notice women gamblers. If women and men have same friendship level as men between men, they men would share more with women. I cant say to a woman I know lets hand out, do something crazy and speak on everything with her. But with other man I can do that. If men were free to talk to women, I think we would find out a lot new and interesting, and would realize that they spend time just like us.

Gambling isn't gender based, it doesn't really meant for a particular gender to involve in but it is more common with men and less engaged by women. A lot of women avoid it because they don't want to get judged for gambling. There is nothing wrong if females gamble as long as they are doing it responsibly then it's nothing of any concern. The only reason why people don't accept women gambling to be a norm us because they are not capable of controlling their emotions and this can lead to serious addiction issues.

It was before that women were scared of being judged for gambling, because in the past there were only land based casinos. Now that we have online gambling platforms, more women are now going into gambling were no one can see them. As for controlling emotions, women often have more emotional control than men when it comes to managing money. A woman wouldn't want to spend more money in gambling unlike their male counterparts. If a woman loses any amount, that woman wouldn't have the urge of gambling more till she makes more money to cover her previous loss, but a man will continue to gambling believing he is taking more risks than women, that's why we have more addicted male gamblers.

​Well if I may say apart from the fact that men are mostly the ones that gamble yeah sure we don't often see women. So we can't say that women don't gamble and we can't say that women do the probability is just there. Because of the level of technology like the internet indeed through the internet anyone can gamble online...

​That said when it comes down to the psychology of gambling whereby most folks play for fun in the sense that they know how to manage and calculate the money they are risking, so that they wouldn't make irrational decisions in gambling though it would indeed be tough for a lady to even have time to build that kind of psychology. I think it's about the nature of men. Men are not biologically wired like men. There are things women love to do, and there are things men also love to do. Of course, what might be fun for men may not be entertaining for the women folk and vice versa. So I think me are more of risk takers, while women are less of that. It doesn't mean that there are not women who takes risks, nope, they do, but few.

Gambling involves risks and money, men acb go all in wishing for something great or also a loss if it happens l, but I don't think a woman would readily stick out her money in such risk all in the name of betting.

Things have changed now, women and men loves almost the same thing in fact women loves a lot of what men are doing even in wears you will see them buying it and it will fit them very well but as a man you cannot do that because it will be abnormal in the eyes of people, so is in the old days you can see them liking and having different things that you would see and no that only women can have this, the same with men so actually in gambling a lot of them also like the same thing, is not only the men that wants this rich because we women also do so anything that men do to get money whether regular or ones in a while they would also be there.

Women who play games of chance prefer drawing games, or slot machines, they rarely play card games or skills.

you are right about that, women don't like games that involve too much intellectual input because it's stressful to them they just prefer a game that's simple without really thinking critically. They rather play casino games like slots and crash, the percentage of women that that gamble are less than men but we don't tend to talk about the fact that women are now getting addicted to gambling

You know if you ask me I would say that gambling is basically meant for men and not for  women, it is never right for a woman to engage herself in gambling because they might not take it as fun but a place to make profit which majority of the women I saw gambling non of them is gambling for the fun but to make profit and that's how they keep panicking whenever the game didn't work in their favour.

yes everyone is entitled to do whatever they feel like . Talking about gender discrimination in regards to gambling, the reason why it is mostly the male that do gamble is because of how people perceived gambling and this I believe have nothing to do with discrimination. Majority of people do see gambler as irresponsible people. Even some men do hide the fact that they do gamble from there wife to avoid having problems with her. In some cases what you consider to be discrimination pushing others away the same discrimination attractes some people yes because they don't give a fuck about what others think feels rather they put themself first, environment can actually influence some people to believe in certain things which makes them see some things awkward when they are not, for gambling any gender can do gambler and I will never have any problem with that even though men are considered to be high risk takers and while many could see gambling as not for the other gender but let's not also forget that some women can be higher risk taker than some men.

Yes I agree with you. Even after the change of era, discrimination still exists. Nowadays nothing is done based on gender. Anyone can gamble. It is purely their personal matter. Men may have a strong attitude towards taking risks. So it is not that women cannot do anything at all. In most places, men go to gamble with their friends for entertainment. On the other hand, women seen their own entertainment in other activities. That is why women are not usually seen in casinos. But they are also capable of taking risks. So gambling is never gender based.
