Being called a gambler, compliment or insult?

Gambling is about taking risk on something that is very uncertain with the hope of making financial or material profit which I think everyone does, but because the name gambling sounds very negative in the ears of so many people, even though some persons are seen as responsible gamblers, it is totally very wrong to call someone a gambler, reactions may also vary according to individuals, while some people may take it lightly, others may be very fierce in their actions.

It also depends on the situation on ground that lead to the person calling you  a gambler, it could just be a joke in some playful moment with some friends, on a normal circumstance or in a very professional circumstances, it's only an abnormal person that would  call someone a gambler unless they just want to look for trouble. The name could mean a joke or an insult but it depends on the situation. If someone sees me at the office and call me a gambler, I will warn them never to do that and if they repeat it, it could cause a fight.

Exactly, they are not the one who's providing the money that we are using, either we are playing for fun or we are chasing for some decent earnings, the way we handle our time and our deposit money matter the most, though they will think whatever they would like to think about our participation how we set things will prevent us from losing our control and become the person that they are tagging and assuming that we are in terms of gambling is concern.

In the casino and in any game, we are the bosses, we are the ones in charge because we own our money, but the most important thing is to maintain control of our money and our emotions , because it's very easy to lose, it's very easy to bet a lot and lose everything That's why we must be intelligent at all times this is what we must keep in mind.

Definitely, I don’t care if the person calling me a gambler is my friend that casually joking me on what I’m doing but if it’s other person that I’m not close then it’s a different matter depending on how he deliver the remarks.

Regardless, I think this will not be an issue to begin with if you don’t publicly announce that you are gambling. If you do then bear with the consequences.

I don't keep friends anyway, but assuming i do, then no doubt my friends will be gamblers just as I am, but assuming they aren't and for whatever reason, they decide to mock my gambling activities, then that's a red flag and  I won't hesitate to cut off ties with such friends cus they aren't friend indeed, a true friend will never mock, but will only genuinely advice you to stop doing something if they see that that thing isn't benefiting you in any way.

Being called a gambler can be a compliment and also be seen as an insult. Depending on the situation, the venue where the statement was made, and the relationship we had with the person who said it.
If the person is the gambler buddy who has been through heaven and hell together, being called a gambler by such a person will be a compliment. However, if it is from someone you're not in a good relationship with and they make the statement, yelling it is technically a statement of insult, not compliement cause the statement was made to hurt the gambler's feelings.

Courtesy approach demands that we call people by their names and not by what they do because that is not their given name, we should respect each other and try to avoid doing what can provoke them because we may also not want to be called some other names by the people the same way we are doing to them, everybody needs to be respected the same way we have to earn it and avoid calling people being a gambler, it sounds somehow when a third party hard of it, such could ring another interpretation to them.

In my opinion, that's more like an insult, but it depends on the tone of voice as well. Now I like to gamble, and if my friend says I'm a gambler in a joking tone, that's fine with me, but if they say it in a mocking tone, like they're putting pressure on me, I probably won't be able to accept it, especially if they say it often. The reason I don't accept it is because I can still control myself when gambling.

I dont really f^ckin care on what other people would say to me. It doesnt matter on what are the things i've been doing or what i do get involved with. Im a kind of person doesnt get affected when it comes into these gossips or even they would be saying a word in front of me saying this and that but that wont be hurting or would be insulting me. As long i dont do something shit and not able to step into other peoples lives then I would be just that fine. As long im spending my own money and not using up others then it would be just that fine. There are some others which are that too emotional or just that too reactive when it comes other peoples sayings on which you wouldnt be letting it pass and would be minding up that much on which you shouldnt be doing this because you are just that stressing yourself out.

Gambling isnt bad as long you do find yourself that responsible into the actions that you are taking. You are the ones will be minding about on what are the things you've been doing and as long you dont do something stupid like getting addicted or what then you should be just that fine.

The thing is, in most of our society today, gambling kidda have a bad label attached to it.  So when people say it seriously, they usually mean someone who is not responsible or careless with money without thinking of consequences.  So when it involve that whole society sigma then it is clearly not a compliment at all. Personally if you gamble as a source of income, most people will call you lazy. Therefore, it will be a natural thing if you are called a gambler. Becoming a gambler through gambling may not be an honour for many, but experienced gamblers can profit from gambling. But most of them do not use gambling to make money. I think those who gamble as their only profession should be called gamblers. But those who are professionally engaged in a different profession and gamble for entertainment, it may be correct to call them gamblers for that period. Personally, everyone has a different identity, the profession that you depend on to earn money should be an identity for you.

Yes you are right. It completely depends on the person and the time. Because if someone very close to me calls me a gambler then I will very easily make it easy and I will joke about this issue with him sometimes. But if a stranger tells me this then I will never accept it and maybe I can even fight with him.

But we also have to be careful with ourselves. Because we should not gamble in a place where people tell us all this. Gambling is seen as a very bad thing in our society. Because almost everyone has faced losses while gambling.

Personally, I prefer to maintain my attitude and try not to be labeled as a gambler—unless the person calling me a gambler is also a gambler themselves, in which case it can even become a form of camaraderie. And that's where a mature person who takes responsibility for their actions can make a difference. I know we live in a society where it's easier for many to point fingers and criticize , to put us against the wall and call us addicts, degenerates, and other things simply for playing in casinos, but your way of dealing with things is very good. Some people have so much free time that they meddle in other people's lives, simply because they enjoy it. Our money and how we spend it is our business, not anyone else's.

It's good that any gambler that doesn't want people to call him a gambler should stop gambling. It's just like someone smoking saying they shouldn't call him a smoker lolz. It's kinda funny to me. You need to accept the fact that you're a gambler and forget about it, if it's like an insult because it's not but the fact.

Now if you are that thick skinned and manage to ignore this, then well and good. But even then I feel it would be more comfortable if you keep your playing habits hidden. Even a big winner is scared of robbery more than insults.
