Depends on the context and person. If the person already has many bad habits and living his life irresponsibly then we can tell use “gambler” as a negative attribute. If the person is a successful, hardworking, honest etc; then calling him a gambler won’t have any negative effect on him because a person like that won’t easily make bad decisions. Someone may call him “gambler” but he won’t become dumb/irresponsible just because of that.

There are many brilliant people who like to gamble and they don’t lose their cool because of that.

Calling a gambler is a kind of insult. Especially for those who follow Islam, being called a gambler will feel insulted because gambling is not permissible in Islam, it is completely illegal and if this illegal thing is called with the name of a person or in memory of a person, then it is a kind of insult. Actually, I gamble only for entertainment. I gamble. Many people do not know about my gambling. Since I gamble online on my mobile phone, people do not know about my gambling and people do not call me a gambler. If they did, I would definitely be insulted.

Totally depends on a certain person on how he/she would take it for them to be called as a gambler. Why would you make out some reaction if its true? If your a gambler then whats the problem? There are just that places in the world that once they've known or see someone that do gamble then they would be making it generalize that those people are already addicted into it and do have a miserable life when it comes to finances just because they are a gambler on which this is really a very common misconception or belief by people around. Well, there might be some point because gamblers do loss money but we do know that not all are playing gambling and losing up all of their funds and messes up their lives. There are just that those people who do play for the sake of fun and entertainment and havent that destroyed their lives.

Only if someone point out to you that you have a gambling addiction should you pay attention to it. In any other context, mentioning that you're a gambler should be indifferent to you. We are all gamblers, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as you approach it responsibly and are able to control yourself. If it bothers you when someone calls you a gambler, try to keep your gambling habits a secret.

I think a lot of people simply attach that meaning to the word "gambler," as if they're automatically addicted, but it's obviously wrong to assume that, as every gambler is unique. Those who haven't gambled before might especially think this way because they've had a neighbor or relative who was addicted and they've observed it, witnessed a negative experience, so to speak. In any case, let others think what they want; they'll still gamble however they want, and they never attach a negative connotation to the word.

I agree with you, the term "gambler" is not a negative term. Those who gamble are called gamblers because they are willing to take risks by wagering money on games that depend on luck. And as long as gamblers can control themselves and play responsibly, and use money they can afford to lose for fun, I think this type of gambler is very positive.

I think it is not normal and insulting. Gambling has its pros and cons. For example: if you earn good amount of money, then everyone will congratulate you and vice versa everyone will hate you. Therefore, it can be said that one should keep quiet and privacy while gambling. Because we all know gambling is natural to lose. But sometimes losing more money takes unusual forms. But if someone calls someone a gambler, Then he must consider the downside and act a bit existential.

You have to consider how people view your behaviour. If people see you in a negative manner it would affect you in some ways. Let's consider that you want to run for a political office. I don't know how I would behave but luckily nowadays we mostly play online with a certain good level of being anonymous to the outside world. Rarely I go to physical casinos nowadays so most people around me do not have the slightest clue that I am or was an avid gambler. Anyway for me I would not care and would not consider that neither an insult neither to be proud to be called like that. For me gambling is just a normal activity in life like many other activities. I don't see it as a burden and nor as a hobby as long as it is done correctly where correctly means to not get involved deeply with it otherwise we risk addiction.

Gambling it's not a bad thing, so there's no need to worry about what people might say about you, as long as you are not abusing the game let them call you anything they want after all nobody is giving you money.

Sometimes gamblers normally get annoyed when they call them gambler knowing fully well that you are not going against your limit, there's one thing most people normally do that I don't like because I see no reason why someone would purposely take because of what people might say and leave something that is bringing joy to you it doesn't make any sense at all do what makes you happy and forget about people around you.

I do not really gamble that much but I have been called a gambler by my friends in the past.

At first, I weirdly got insulted because I always associate gamblers as something negative. However, I came to realize that what I was doing was the exact same thing that a gambler would do. So I just chose to live with it and change my perception in viewing gamblers as something negative.

Nowadays, I still gamble but I do it primarily for fun and entertainment. I tend to avoid gambling for profit because it sets a wrong example that I already have moved on before.

I don’t really mind being called a gambler, honestly I’d even say I’m proud of it because for me it just means I’m a risk taker. As long as I’m not doing anything that would ruin myself or hurt other people, I’m fine with that label and in my case I see it as something positive.

What I don’t like is when gambling gets used as an excuse for crimes. If someone steals money and then suddenly gets called a gambler, it feels like they’re trying to blame gambling for the crime itself, which doesn’t really make sense.

Being a responsible gambler is a different thing altogether and that’s something I can stand by. Not everyone can handle risk the way a gambler does, and that’s where the real difference is.
