‎I don't know if this is the height of gambling addiction but what can you call it in your opinion?

Who shot this picture deserves some awards, although this is social media era and alot of interpretations could be given to this image, but from what we can see, the man look stable and calm, which means he is responding to treatment.
But another silent question is, what kept him in that condition, betting could be the reason too, so despite being stable if he continues with such activities, he will slide back to his condition again when taken off oxygen.

That could also be one of the possible reasons, as lack of rest, pressure and stress will really kill you slowly. Gambling may be good but too much of it is already bad to your health, and this is how gambling addiction kills us silently.

Now let's just say this man is already feeling good, still he shouldn't be betting at his condition, because once he'll be allowed and get used to it, then he'll be looking forward to bet the next days while he is still inside the hospital.

I won't say that gambling is bad. In fact, we are here and still doing well. But yes, this is a disaster to others. But all of this happens because we allow it. We let our addiction control our mind, which, in fact, we can stop.

Well it's obvious that he is addicted because he is playing while in life support. Maybe it's his way to just forget about everything specially his health condition that's why he just wanted to play. Or maybe he has this mentality of YOLO, You Only Live Once, and so he puts everything on the line. In any case, if he worsen then he could not blame anyone for it. For him it could be just gambling as a form of entertainment and again, to pass his time and not deal with his sickness. So it's really hard to judge a person who is a gambling addict as they will do everything even if it looks stupid to normal people.

during times like this, one might feel very down and depressed if he’s being entertained by gambling despite his condition then why not? but i don’t think he’s on life support or else how would he have the energy and strength to sit and play? he might just be sick but still strong enough to play

News like this don't always carrying the complete information of what the person's intention was, if truly he was betting and also if he was actually sick or just there to make content. These days, there's nothing that can not be turn into content creation all in the name of going viral. It's possible it was just content creation, or the man was not actually gambling but they video him and tag it a gambling patients, so they can go viral too on their blogging site.

If truly he was gambling, then he was just having fun and probably the illness is not very serious and we should not also conclude that it was a sign of addiction.

I don't think I will be wasting money when I am already in the hospital with oxygen to help me breathe. I mean, the expense of the hospital bills will surely be a problem, and I don't want to add more problems by gambling while I am sick. It's like a disrespect to your family who are trying to help, and even more if they are the ones paying for your bills.

It will be boring in the hospital, that's for sure. But it doesn't mean we cannot be entertained through different means. If we are still gambling while we are in that situation, I don't think that's healthy anymore.

I laughed when I saw the picture, thinking, why keep doing it when you're not feeling well? Haha, it really shows that this person is addicted to gambling.
The phrase that comes to mind is, never give up . Maybe he hopes to win and be able to pay for his medical expenses, but if he loses, it might stress him out.

I think if this guy likes to gamble when his life is practically hanging in the balance, then why should we judge him and forbid him from doing so? If the picture is really true then it must be said that the problem is much deeper because when a person is lying in a hospital bed and thinking about gambling then it is not just a habit, it is a terrible stage of mental dependence. And the issue of gambling, money is not the main thing here the main thing is losing control because even if the body breaks down the mind is stuck in the same place, this is the most dangerous aspect of addiction. However, I also think that everything is not over by saying "He will not survive without a miracle" because addiction does not dehumanize a person but makes a person helpless and if family, doctors and psychological support are available at the right time then that person has a chance to come back. To get out of gambling or any addiction, it is necessary to first understand the person's situation without blaming them because although it is difficult but it is not impossible if we really stand by them.

I've seen different situation where people kept gambling online regardless of their situation and/or what they're doing. Saw before, the driver of the bus gambling online while driving. Some people while they're on duty or during break, they'd use those time to gamble online. And most of these people I saw are living paycheck to paycheck or only have minimum wages.

But this one is pretty new to me. Or maybe because I havent been in the hospital for some time. Either he's just bored being confined and have nothing to do that's why he ends up playing online. Though I don't see it as a problem if his condition isn't really life-threatening. But one thing I'm concern is that, if he's capable of paying medical bills? Cause if they're having a hard time financially and then he's in the hospital with medical bills to pay, using you money on gambling says that you're already in the stage of addiction.

First of all, the workers at the hospital are to be blamed for this because they know someone on life support needs a lot of rest but they still allowed him to hold his mobile phone which was supposed to be taken and kept safely for his own good. Well, anything that keeps him happy. some critical conditions requires a little bit of fun and relaxation to ease the condition.

It is obvious that the buddy is not having serious health issue to bring him to oxygen and he could have the strength and breath to surf the internet talk more of betting. If you get to the oxygen level, it is assumed that you are uncontrollable and unconscious but for him to be seating down on that bed means he is ready to be discharged and may not listen to the nurses, some patients are quite stubborn.

However, the story is looking somehow to me and like I submitted, except he is already better and out of the oxygen then need to get back to his hobby.

You know in a well disciplined hospital I'm sure that the doctors won't allow him to do that knowing fully well that he need some rest, unlike most of the hospitals here they can't possibly allow patient to do anything stress I know gambling is not stressful but at these  point  I would consider it as stress even though he might be doing it for fun or entertainment still it is not advisable, Moreover it's a game that involves emotion he would have think of something more better like seeing a movie or something instead of gambling.

I don't think that this guy is still on oxygen from the picture presented by OP. He's already done with receiving oxygen or can't you see that he's breathing with his nose and not in a life support. He's fine and healthy that's why he's still gambling. Who knows maybe, he is waiting for the hospital to discharge him and decided to have fun before going home. This is my thought.

Some people can't just stay away gambling, even at their lowest they always think about gambling which is very abnormal, once gambling has gotten a gold of anyone like this it is always going to be hard for them to recover. Gambling even when he is on life support shows how addicted he is to it, and I don't know why the doctors allowed this to go on. A person on life support has serious health conditions and needs to rest, this seems like a joke until they find out that his health situation only gets worse because he isn't resting.

Here, I'm just thinking simply. A person cannot keep on gambling when his body is screaming that it needs to get help and it is no longer controlling him, it means that the subject is no longer leading their happiness, but rather is driving it. And when we are at that, it is not freedom of choice we find there, but loss of choice. This is an addiction to gamble and gambling rules their brain. And when one is feeling really unwell and his body is delivering some danger messages, but he continues to gamble then that is a serious addiction, it is no longer about pleasure but about compulsive needs.

I'd joke that this guy is very funny and has absolutely nothing to lose. Tell you what, there was time in my life when I was immensely passionate about video games, that no matter the circumstances, I would play, and I remember this one time too where I was having cold and I started playing game (it was GTA: Vice City, I remember fondly), and I forgot about cold, profit?

In my opinion that person is addicted. That's why he is gambling even while on life support but I will also blame his family for this, because a person or patient is on life support and at this moment how can his family give him a mobile phone to gamble? In this way I think that he is gambling to satisfy his mind but if he loses a large amount, then he may have a stroke or even die. So at this moment I think that person needs the highest level of rest. Gambling can be a death trap for him.
