Civilian job or military service?

Personally, I'm not really fit for a military service. I'm not familiar with the benefits they get in America but here in my country, they're also paid well compared to other jobs but it's really hard for me to imagine in that position. You need to be physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared when doing that line of job. I feel like it's just such a heavy responsibility even if there's an economic issue.

Our country isn't even that great when it comes to military so I'd still prefer civilian jobs. Safety is also a big factor and risk when choosing military service.

I am not in the US and I am also not aware of the benefits of being in the US military but where I live, there are not so many benefits in our military for lower ranks but still most of us are interested in standing with our army against any enemy. But from that spirit of being in the army, if someone joins the army to not serve the country, or someone who is not ready to die for the country but wants to join the military just for the benefits, then I doubt it and in my opinion, it will weaken the military system from top to bottom.

It is definitely not for everyone but many joins military because they are attracted by those beautiful packages that the military gives them, a lot of people, especially immigrants in the US gets to join the army so they can get citizenship, otherwise, they would not have joined. A lot of people joins military for benefits but is that right morally?

Being a civilian worker compared to being in the military where you have to serve the country, under any circumstances when the country needs you on the spot in war then you have to be ready between life and death, especially in the US army this is full of consideration for them.

I prefer to be a civilian because of freedom... where we can work, do business or do any job according to our wishes and talents, then it depends on the skills we have as long as you see in business then the income will be much greater even financially will be guaranteed as long as it becomes a successful businessman.

Love for military service is born mainly from patriotism. By doing military service, you can do something for the country from the front and if we talk about financial benefits, then in terms of salary, there are many civilian jobs where the salary is several times higher than military service. But I have seen many people who do not work just for money but because of love for the country and responsibility towards the country. Personally, if the question is asked to me which one to choose, I would definitely choose military service because by doing this job I can directly use myself for the welfare of the country. Also, since this job is very risky, if I die while serving for some reason, my family will still get financial security.

A military job does not just mean that you will be required to have weapon and be in the field, there are military office jobs. But I understand why you may say something like this, the benefits of being in the military is not the same in every country, there are some countries where the dangers outweigh the benefit, in fact there is no benefit. In such countries, it may be best to remain a civilian and give yourself the option of having other sources of income instead of the military that will tale all your time with nothing to show for it.

I know that right, but here in my country once you join military they will post you in a place where there's war, although for the fact that I dislike military job is not because of weapon or the things that is involved rather I chose not to work as a military all my life. Here in my country you can only work in office that's if you are well educated, even most of the people who are well educated are not even working in the office so I think it is just a matter of connection, if you don't have a connection you can't enjoy military job.

Getting into military service in my country is not a viable option anymore for me. Because they have a specific age for joining but, I can still categorical join as a reservist. Being a reservist, you only get to have the privilege of serving the country without compensation or if there is, it's very minimal and not enough to rely on as a living. And that's why I'll be choosing to get into several jobs if I can in these times. Getting more active income and even the regular jobs now are also uncertain and that's why I'll not stop in working just to provide in these trying times.

One million and one times, I will pick a civilian job over a military job, believe me!! There is nothing as sweet as freedom, as a civilian, your freedom is your greatest tool, you can move around at will, travel at your own convinience and sleep at your own given time but in the military, everything is predefined for you from those at the top of the food chain and that can be exhusting and mentally draining, although from the outside it looks and sound easy! until you get in and find out that it is not a walk in the park but a sacrifice of self-worth.

For a man approaching old age who has and has difficulty finding a job, if they can choose, they will take the path of joining the military because there they know there will be many benefits for their family even though they have to risk their lives in the battlefield, on the other hand they can serve the country, how could it not be the best choice because the family will get guarantees from the government, starting from basic needs and education, and if they succeed in winning the war they will be appreciated because have served the country, it is a sacred duty.

I'd choose a regular job over another one in the military, but I won't think twice to enlist the moment I believe my contribution would be of big help.

Although the compensation and other benefits are probably good enough, the problem with an ordinary job in the military here in my country is that you're often just an armed tool of powerful politicians. You'd do things as commanded to you not necessarily by your superior but by a powerful politician. I don't find it appealing.

First off I dont fancy being constantly told what to do and both Military Service and salaried job
in most cases require me to 'follow orders'.

I also dont like being used as a pawn in an elitist led war where they stand to gain economically
by war and I could lose a limb, die or end up on the street addicted to drugs from lack of services

Nah, I lost interest in joining the military after I got expose to a lot of earning opportunities that are time flexible. Having enough time for yourself and your family is very important to me. Being in the military will have you deprived with all those things. Especially when you are deployed far from home. Though the benefits are really great and every officer are well compensated, but I'm capable of generating an income more than what the military personnel is earning without leaving my town.

I prioritise my safety above everyother thing so I therefore don’t consider jobs that exposes my life. in this regard I’ll prefer to be  a civil than being in the military just because I do not want to risk my life. It may be like I'm a little bit selfish but thats what it is. a man once dead is gone forever.

You're right Abiky, I understand your concerns about your own safety first and trust everyone will love to have that same mindset. But let think about it together, assuming everyone is glued to this opinion and shun military just for their own safety and military is left with no personnel, do you think everyone will be safe at all? Nobody's safety will be guaranteed if there's no military to ensure that. Government is aware of this and that's why they make military payment a juicy one to attract people. The sacrifice is huge and huge payments is required too and government is doing the needful. As a military officer you're not just protecting people, you're protecting yourself as well. I respect your opinion but it sounds cowardice by the way.

I have always loved the military, not because of the benefits but because of my passion for it. However, I can't join any military organisation in my country, as they are not up to the standards I want. I often envy the US military. If I were in the US, trust me, by now, I'll be in service.

Currently, between a civilian job and military service, I'll take ca ivilian job. If you want to be in the military, you must be prepared to lose your life. Gone are the days when I longed to serve in the military.

In my opinion, there is already far too much war in the world. I wish people would focus more on developing society in times of peace as responsible citizens, rather than dreaming of securing a position with good benefits in the military. War is always about death and grief, destruction and loss.When you are inside that system, you can personally face all the tragedies and hardships that war brings, and you may lose the most important things you have, your physical and mental health, and even your life. So for me, there is no real choice  I would never want to be in the military. Being in the military may seem appealing in peacetime, but when there are so many conflicts and military operations happening around the world, the price of a good benefits package can be far too high.

As a family person of course I would prefer civilian job because it allows to be more flexible. There were to many moment when I had to leave job immediately or suddenly take day off. I can take holidays when I need, not when it is allowed. I have big doubts for example that I would be allowed to leave home because there is a school play or sport event where I must support my child as a parent. I doubt that during military service I can be able to do something part time to earn extra. Last but not least not everyone are ready to serve. Starting from not being physically strong enough to not having discipline.

I would rather myself be far away with some dangerous job rather than on trying out to deal up with it just because the pay is good and the benefit it gives is something that hard to ignore on which we can really say that it is something that we cant really be able to force out someone. Well, it would be just that depending on someones preference because if you are single or doesnt have a family to love to be with then you can go with that military service on which i would say that it is that much more lesser when it comes to emotional distress and anxiety in comparing into those who do value on having that having together with their family but well it would be just that situational because there are those who do still risks out despite of the danger of this kind of job bcuase they are eager on trying out to earn better for the sake of their family.

Military job is very tough because you have to do job day and night And you have no time to sleep because you will be available for 24 hours . There are millions of people who are are part of military and they are not happy with their job because they have no time for their families and families are important because we are only earning for them and  if our family is not happy with our work then we should quit that job . Millions of people are doing work in different countries and they are soldiers and they are doing this because they have love for their country which should be but they are ready to give their life to the country during any kind of war and I think civil people are more enjoying their life because they have free time to spend and they are doing hard work for their growth.
