Haven't we also bet on something but really just for fun, for example betting with items we own and the value is quite high and it is indeed just a joke, because if it is true, your friend's wife can report it as a crime, it is like human trafficking in my opinion.

I hope it was just a joke, just because your friends were carried away by emotions that made them do something like that, because if what your friends did was really done, I think it would be considered a criminal act, because it is not appropriate for someone to bet his wife or anyone else to gamble even if the reason is to maintain self-respect.

AFAIK using human for betting purpose can be considered as a human trafficking. So those two people you explained already done human trafficking by exploiting their wife to be used for the bet. So it's already considered as a crmininal act which can be reported to the police.

If he is that serious, then he can be charged, and it's a ground for divorce, if he is joking its a bad joke; your wife will not prepare a meal for you or wash your clothes if he found out that you are staking her, he might even tell people how bad you are in bed.

Sometimes when i come across posts like this, I just find myself laughing on my own. It’s really surprising how far people can go to even think of staking their own wives over something like this. Even though from your post it seems they were just joking about it, nobody really knows how it all ended in the end. A foolish action, even if it is a joke, is still how they risk their wives is something foolish. They are a team, and on what basis are they so reckless as to make such a bet? It sounds outrageous because there's no way such a bet can be upheld, there would have to come to an agreement that wouldn't involve giving out his wife because his wife is an adult with feelings of her own, she cannot Just leave with someone else just because of a game. I feel like people that gamble up to this point have no sense of reasoning anymore and they are very dangerous to live with.

I've seen things like this before. One day, an employee at my house stole money from us, and he said the money was in his phone. So we went with him to return his phone, and to my surprise, it was his phone being held as collateral at an illegal casino. He gambled a lot and lost everything, and because he drank alcohol inside the illegal casino, he promised to pay for the drinks later, which is why he left his phone as collateral.

To make matters worse, he sold parts from my mother's car to gamble at the illegal casino. I had no doubt at that moment that the guy was addicted to gambling and also to alcohol. We had to fire him, and the next day his father came to our house to tell us about his son's life. According to the father, his son had gambled away his house and wife in the past.

Those were many hours of very sad stories. Gambling is great, but we have to have limits, we have to have discipline so we don't get lost in addiction and destroy our lives. I think they were just joking about that because even if they accept to stake there wives. It won't work without there consent that is the reason why I said is all a joke.
The only thing that can make people to do this kind of thing is gambling addiction. Those that are addicted to gambling can do anything just to gamble. This may not be real but I believe there are addicted gamblers that can do worst than this just for them to gamble.

Op in as much I am not ignorant of what an addicted gambler could do, I would have like to know the using of the wife in which aspect, for sex, or become the winner wife or what?  Gambler go extra mind as the process enthusicate then which many fell gambling has some spiritual implications as some behavior seem to be in tipsy mood, gambling with ones wife automatically damage the family because if the wife truely Love you as husband been used by your friend automatically killed your respect, if gambler could borrow sell property and even morged salary just to satisfy the desire if gambling, staking wife won't be a difficult task for most gamblers but it's absurd do down grade and reduced one family or wife to that extent.

I don't think it is legalky possible to use one's wife as wager within the realm of sport betting. Because that would imply one has ownership over one's wife, when in reality they are not owned by anyone, they are as free from slavery as any man is.

If I had to guess, I would say he was just joking, in order to show how confident he was with his luck for that incoming match, and it did not actually have anything to do with using his wife as stake.
