Do you mean, the owner of the bet shop should go home with their wife while these men will be go home without their wife with them until they'll redeem them by paying the ticket debts?

To be honest, I don't care about what they are going to do with their wifes but why would any person bet use human being as collateral for bet. It's not man or woman, so what happened when the person win and the other person lose, are they going to share bed or the OP has somethings he want to share with us that he is not telling us. What happened after they made the bet, I don't like when I'm feed with story that is not complete, at least let's us know the ending.

There are many things that can go wrong with this kind of thing, even if you have confidence on what you want to play, you should never gamble with your spouse. Perhaps one of them might take it as play while the other might be serious about it. It's possible that the man you are making bet with have eyes on his wife before making that bet but he can't tell. Although since there is no legal documents about the bet and terms, I don't think it's that serious bet.

I mean, that could be just some joke, since it mostly happened to some people who wanted to throw anything for gambling, and this was just some verbal agreement. It wasn't surely going to be legal, right? The wife is not going to actually allow that she is being bet.

There are some extreme stories on TV where they are betting their wives or kinda like selling them, and those guys are going to be allowed to be with the guy's wives for a night, kinda like betting for the one-night stand. Exactly such vet are never taken seriously because of the nature and extent at which it will go to never end in settlement, one can only gamble with material thing's like money and car, juweries and the rest, but not on another human being like a spouse who have they own right to say no to you betting, so if they are not aware of your bet, how then can a wife be payment for bet settlement like this, it won't work so the whole story is really a joke.

More than likely it was only for fun, not for real. Because the wife won't definitely agree with the terms if she will know it. Hence, they might do it for fun and for entertainment only.
But on this note, I would say, some will indeed go to such extent because of desperation. But maybe not the wife, but more on material possession like gadgets or other valuable equipment.

Of course, such an incident is condemnable for gambling, I have never heard such a bad announcement in the past. But I think these two friends are definitely the most addicted to gambling, which is why they have involved their wives in gambling. A proper responsible man can never involve his wife in gambling, such a thing is possible only by an addicted person. If this really happened, it would be absolutely insane, because they shouldn’t have done it. The most extreme case I’ve ever come across was someone betting their assets, and the highest-stakes bet I’ve seen involved a house, but betting one’s wife is even crazier than betting a house. I can’t imagine what’s going through their minds to dare to use their wife as a bet meaning that if they lose, they’d have to hand her over, and logically, she certainly wouldn’t want that. Has it gotten to this level? That is absolutely crazy. To be honest I'm shock about this whole thing, like is this gamblers gambling with their right senses? Because I don't understand what they really want to get in gambling, this is what they call irresponsible gamblers that doesn't know when they are going wrong because they are deeply into gambling addiction which they can go any level just to make sure that they satisfy themselves without remembering the implication.

I don't think they're ever serious about it because i see no way it's making any sense to me in anyway for two gamblers to start involving their wife's in their dirty shit, to be honest that's is the joke of the century. What if it was actually true then what happened to the losers wife?

So hearing this does not really sit well with me. Initially, I assumed it to be a joke, but in the long run, things of such nature have already happened in the past, so the possibility of it happening is very high. Sometimes I just believe the gamblers involved in such acts are likely already intoxicated, so they do not really think before they act, they just do things under the influence of liquor, and all of that they had ingested at the casino.

This is so insane that it's beyond common sense. Btw, in my country there's a case almost identical to this. A father cruelly sold his infant child to gamble online. Tragically, he spent the money he earned within a week selling the baby without his wife's knowledge. Of course, selling one's wife and child is illegal under national law and even beyond reason.

But what we need to know is that if a gambler does something this crazy they're usually already severely addicted to gambling, willing to do anything to gamble. And usually, their marriage doesn't have a solid foundation, so the husband is willing to gamble with his wife or child. Essentially, when gambling with unreasonable stakes it can be said that a person has become addicted to gambling. This is why everyone advises against becoming addicted to gambling as addiction can lead to insane behavior.

I thought it only happened in soap operas, but sometimes a gambler can lose their sanity. So I believe what you said. Some gambling addicts who have lost their sanity can indeed destroy their own families and are even willing to sell their wives to get money to gamble again. I don't have any doubt there are people out there in the world who are addicted enough to gamble using their wives or children as colateral or wager. But that is pretty much a situation which would only be possible in rural settings or places were law enforcement is non-existent and habitants of the community allows such things to happen.
In modern places (even in developing countries) their constitution would not allow people to enslave others and use then as merchandise.

This is something we would have only seen during the era of slave of African in the Americas or perhaps during the peak of Roman empire, but very rare today.

Well it's clearly a practical joke on April fools, but the sad thing is it is actually possible in a bunch of places around the world. There are some rather backward societies that treat women much more like property than free thinking and independent people, almost a slave like mentality - but the reality is that these societies are stuck in the stone age and cannot advance until they change this sort of backwards thinking. Besides that, it's just a weird sort of joke that a couple guys might make down the pub but it has no real meaning beyond banter. People who gamble on their wives at a live casino house seem to act under the influence of substances or alcohol, if I am not mistaken. So it is possible that such an occurrence might take place, but I am of the opinion that casinos in the first place should never allow such to happen within their premises because it seems that they are encouraging such if gamblers do that and they do not take action against it. If the government intervenes in such an act, the casinos would already bear the brunt because it is on their platform that such happened and they would be made to face the penalty for their actions. So it is best they do not allow such to happen on their platform than payinh heavily for such nonsense.

Crazy indeed, this is a very expensive joke that should not be joked with to the extent of placing a bet on their wives shows no value, but I don't think it's right to do this because if they are not really friends, they will have to keep to their agreement which will turn out to be a very big problem within both families, we should be careful and not be carried away with our gambling that will lead to taking unreasonable decisions that will hurt us at the end of the day.
