To some people, gambling is a side hustle, while some may not see it as a side hustle, because they have other things they do that fetch them money than gambling, if most of us assumed to see gambling as the source of income, then maybe all of us wouldn't have made anything from it after several attempt with the expectation of winning our bet, so it shouldn't be assumed as a side hustle, except we are ready to get something doing that could better serve us a source to earn from

It's hard to imagine that gambling provides a REGULAR income for anyone. Just as it's hard to believe that, in the long run, income exceeds expenses.
I can think of only one scenario—if a person gambles, to put it mildly, dishonestly, like street card sharps, for example. In that case, yes, it is income, and more likely even a primary source of income rather than a secondary one

Perhaps a few of the luckiest will be able to make it a side hustle, but 99% of people will lose their entire savings gambling. I agree with you; gambling cannot be treated as a hobby, let alone as a side hustle. In my opinion, many people start to confuse gambling with trading and think they are one and the same. If a player consistently ends up losing money month after month, then I would recommend not just trying to treat gambling as a hobby, but actually stepping away from it completely. Because if you’re only losing, what kind of enjoyment can you really get? It will just be constant disappointment. It is even dangerous to make it a hobby, as hobbies are not designed to make a person stressed, but to get them out. Simple but logically right, not unless you are really good in terms of analyzing the game and having better percentages of winnng compared to the numbers of your losses, that can be consider as side hustle though there's no guarantee that you can win out from this industry, similar to what you said, side hustle is something that provides additional sure profits, a paid services that comes from your skills.

But it's true that if you're not going to consider it as a side hustle, much prefer it to be as an outlet to have fun.
There are gamblers who are no doubt can make money with gambling and treats it as a side hustle and there is no way to stop them.
