Doesn't dopamine makes you exaggerate though? It shows that even losing players and I have experienced this myself a thousand times that I believe and all losing players in general believe their luck will turn soon until the very last penny. That is because in human DNA, deep in our roots hope is a feeling that dies last like that saying goes. It is difficult, extremely difficult to contain emotions while gambling exactly because of dopamine so in the end we all chase the feeling and not the money, of course money is a motivator and an added bonus, nothing more.
Obviously it makes you overdo it! Every time you take dopamine, you increase your addiction and to have the same pleasure you need to have more dopamine. For example, those who practice extreme sports do increasingly extreme things to have the same pleasure.

Most people think gambling is about winning or losing money. But if you look deeper it is more about human psychology than money itself. The real driver behind gambling behavior is not profit but emotion.
When someone places a bet the brain releases dopamine. This doesnot just happen when you win it also happens when you anticipate a win. That is why even losing players keep going because they are chasing the feeling not just the money.
Another key factor is something called loss recovery bias. After a loss the brain pushes you to believe that the next bet will fix everything. Logically every bet is independent. But psychologically it feels like you are due for a win.
Then there is the illusion of control. Many gamblers believe they can influence outcomes through strategies timing or experience even in games that are purely random. This creates a false sense of skill in situations where luck dominates.
Youre right, mostly gamblers here dont even know that they are chasing a feeling. They think they are here for money and profits and winning but the only thing they are here for is the dopamine hits that winning in gambling gives. If they were for money they wouldve cashed out when they won but they continue and continue in the same desperate search for dopamin and that becomes a reason for them that they suffer losses.

Obviously it makes you overdo it! Every time you take dopamine, you increase your addiction and to have the same pleasure you need to have more dopamine. For example, those who practice extreme sports do increasingly extreme things to have the same pleasure. It depends also, our bodies are like a machine one can train to get used to something, take for example, someone who is into drugs, you know on the norm, when you take a certain amount of drugs for the first time, it's works and if you keep taking that drug every day, a time will come when to still get the same level of feeling you usually get, you will have to increase the amount or dosage of the drug, this is usually how most people end up killing their self through overdose. But if you ignore that feeling, that urge and hunger to increase the drug dosage and keep on taking the normal dosage you have been taking right from the beginning, at a point, that urge and hunger to increase the dosage will disappear completely and your body will adjust to get used to that normal dosage for as long as you keep taking the drug. This same thing plays out in gambling as well, when you bet a certain amount get a level of dopamine, time will come when the urge to increase the bet amount to get same level of dopamine, if you don't give in to this urge, you will still be fine after a short time.

~ Then there is the illusion of control. Many gamblers believe they can influence outcomes through strategies timing or experience even in games that are purely random. This creates a false sense of skill in situations where luck dominates. If you mean games like slots, dice, roulette, mine etc., luck doesn’t "dominate" in those games, luck there is everything. And yeah, it's kinda stupid to have an illusion of control over those games. But I think every gambler went through that phase in the beginning. It’s only when we have enough experience that we can understand that those games are purely random.

Well, I don't know what you think others feel about gambling but gambling to me is all about making profit and to have fun and entertainment, I understand that emotion is what drives people into gambling not any kind of stuff that will be profitable to them, but chasing looses is one of the factors that leads to addiction, because gambling gives you that feelings that if you bet again you will win which is not so entirely, one you place your mind on recovering money that have been lost in the process of gambling you stand the chances of loosing more as no one has actually recovered what they have lost. Of a truth many people don't even know what they are chasing, they think it's profit but from all indications it's actually a feeling that spores them into gambling in other to make profit, no amount of strategies can make one win or influences the outcome of a game except you are lucky to win.

If gamblers only gambled after winning, so many people would not have become addicted to gambling and their financial situation would not have reached such a bad level due to addiction. Some gamblers gamble aggressively and they gamble even when they lose and even when they win. Where expectations are everyone's victory, the question may arise as to why gamblers gamble after losing, the reason for this is that as you said, the brain releases the dopamine hormone due to which the brain gives it a signal to gamble more at that time, when in fact the gamblers do not consider the results much. However, if the gambling habit can be changed, that is, if gamblers gamble within a certain level and reduce their expectations for gambling, the brain will give them signals in such a way that gamblers will not gamble aggressively.

More often than not, after a loss, a player resorts to more reckless behavior in order to win back their losses, and feelings of greed haunt them. Such players are more likely to develop gambling addiction; a more disciplined player will be able to stop in time and learn from it.And it's important to remember about the gaming budget. If you play without stops in one session, you can lose your entire salary and also get into debt.

Therefore, I believe that the opinion that gambling, in the absence of control, turns a person into a very stupid person is correct, because any gambling starts out as a fun activity, and then the gambler starts to think about money when they win their first big prize. Over time, they start to associate gambling with joy and reality with something to avoid. As a result, money takes a backseat. but the gambler himself is already thinking only about spending more time in this Rainbow fun world, and not in the harsh reality. This is a complete and uncontrollable degradation if a person does not have the ability to control himself.

But at the same time, I would say that my opinion is not so critical, because a good gambler is always present among the statistics, and even though there are very few of them, they are able to control themselves very well. For example, we have a lot of such people on our forum, and they all make money from gambling because they make careful bets and remember not to go beyond their pre-planned strategy. They are a living example of how control in gambling can keep things within a positive framework.

Yes and NoYes coz most gambler tend to keep going back in after series of losses because of things like hope of recovery, frustration blah blah blah... Most gambler eventually get to the point whereby there aren't even bothered about profits anymore, they just simply continue because of that their present feeling and this there present emotion make them engage in certain illogical decisions like someone who put in a huge amount of money immediately after a win thinking that he will profit from it just like he did previously... No coz emotion isn't the major reason why some folks come into gambling...Most of all this addicted folks we have today didn't become addicts solely because of their emotions, they first pursued after profits and from their started making some emotional decisions which resulted into their addiction... So what I am trying to say is that Profit first and emotion second are what drive most gambling behavior...

That is true. Luck based games mostly depends on our luck than our skill. So no matter how hard we try, the outcome of the game will depend on our luck only. Yes, gambling is more about emotions than about money because its the emotions that control our gambling habits. For some, their emotions make them gambling addicts while for some, it's more about the thrill that they enjoy.

First they are not chasing the feeling but they chasing money there intense is because of the money. It is only there action that is based on there feelings and not on the money because if the feeling of winning isn't there the urge to gamble may not be there. So no gambler is chasing after feeling as you said what they are chasing is money. There are gambler that don't understand that winning in gambling is luck based and not on skills or strategies.

Youre right, mostly gamblers here dont even know that they are chasing a feeling. If they were for money they wouldve cashed out when they won but they continue and continue in the same desperate search for dopamin and that becomes a reason for them that they suffer losses.
Unfortunately, it's not true, there's a misconception here, before you say you are chasing a feeling, there's a reason for that feeling you are chasing and that reason is what even activates this feeling you are talking about. The initial thought of many gamblers is actually to make money and that is what activates the dopamine because they are in a state of expectation and this expectation is not guaranteed.

I see some posts about gambling on this forum and I just laugh. How can someone compare gambling with trading or even investing? Gambling should be compared with buying movie tickets or spending on other forms of entertainment. The funds that should be used for gambling should be an insignificant part of your income. Those who see gambling as a source of income are just giving gamblers a bad name.

Those who see gambling as a source of income are just giving gamblers a bad name. The risk structures of the two are indeed extremely different in nature. The trading and investing activity is based on analysis of information, risk management and mathematical strategies, whereas gambling is all about predominantly good fortune with no utilization of any mechanism that gives advantage to the house. Gambling is not similar to it as it is solely based on pure luck and thus it is used mostly to have fun.

Many people simply think they'll make money gambling, but only true professionals can do that, and there aren't many of them. Almost every player imagines they'll succeed, without putting in much effort. At a certain point, the game begins to affect them so much that, exhausted by losses, they begin to show and reflect their feelings in the game by placing larger bets. Personally, I wouldn't play at all if I wanted to express myself there after a fight with my wife or a setback at work, because that would also be a game built on emotions.

Having feelings about gambling will not be the problem if you know how to control yourself and while using small fund to gamble so that you don't have to take too many risks that could make you to lose bets and put you in an emotional state that makes you feel weak. If you can control how you bet, you are not going to have much problem again as a player.

It may be so, the feeling of not losing money along with our positivity is something we must control, the feeling of winning is beautiful, the feeling of experiencing good emotions is what we as humans seek, but gaming is not complacent and we shouldn't think it is, we must be conscious players who know that we can lose and that things can go wrong, we have to be prepared for that and we can't take risks we shouldn't.

we must be conscious players who know that we can lose and that things can go wrong, we have to be prepared for that and we can't take risks we shouldn't.
Before we take risk, we should have that expectation that we're going to lose. Regardless of how good we are, we have to state it by ourselves that unforeseen events can happen. At most times that the expectation that we're thinking won't happen and very unlikely when we're chasing money. It's best to have your plans set first and do not that it will be always according to what you think. Because this is how risky gambling is, it plays out the bankroll we have and as well as the emotion that we're putting in it. We have to protect ourselves emotionally and financially.
