It is an overstatement to say that gambling as the deadliest addiction in this world, gambling can be very addictive indeed but gambling is not something which directly cause physical death. I would say substance addictions such as drug and alcohol are in the higher level than gambling addiction if we are talking about "deadliest". We cant also say that gambling is generally addictive because many people can do gambling without getting addicted. Addiction is depending on the individual, gambling itself it not the main problem but how people deal with it.

Gambling is supposed to be for entertainment but because of lack of selfcontrol it becomes an addict,if every gamblers should introduce selfcontrol when gambling it will reduce the addiction,

Dopamine rush, the uncertainty of not knowing when the next win, chasing losses, compulsive gambling, and lastly because of its easy access and technology. And by seeing the increasing rate of suicidal with gambling, therefore I can say that its the most harmful and deadliest addiction in the world.

It's probably due to the enormous amount of attention this forum brings to the issue by the creation of 100 threads per week on the subject, just my opinion.

Yes it can become an issue but it's not as big an issue as people here are making it by creating multiple threads on the subject to reach their post quota goals.

Why is it the worst & the most deadliest addiction? We are all addicts here, but we are still alive & well...

When you think about it, we get addicted easily to good & fun things... once we start practicing it as often as we can, we are addicts. But nobody says you need to give all of your time/energy/money to gambling (or other addiction), you can control it and have fun when you want it, and more importantly, how you want it. So it's simple, you either control it, or addiction will eat you...

So have fun & enjoy, and don't forget to gamble only with the money you can afford to lose... that can save you from troubles, but once you cross the line (if you cross it), problems will appear.

Why gambling can be addictive is because it appears to look like an easy way of making money perhaps it is not. or it involves chasing quick money with high expectations. People become addicted because they see gambling as a short cut to making quick money, and the quest of achieving this makes gamblers to keep Gambling and Gambling to make profit which they start losing on the process, and from that, it involves chasing their loses again out of anger, and this keep on going on and on, after multiple loses and not getting anything tangible in return will lead to aggressive betting.

I believe that if a person is weak in character and their own conclusions, they will lead themselves into trouble through any activity. And gambling is just a catalyst for this. If a person is strong, even a risky activity like gambling will not be dangerous for them. They will understand that they can only spend money that they can lose, and they will stop when they feel tired, so they can enjoy gambling without becoming addicted or facing the problems that come with uncontrolled gambling.

I believe that the most reason why gambling is very addictive is because of greed, some people see it as a get rich quick scheme and when they are not lucky enough to hit the jackpot they will begin to chase loses to recover everything they have lost. The moment they lose self control that is when full addiction sets in so addiction doesn't start immediately, it is gradual until the gambler becomes totally irresponsible. It is easy to get into addiction than to get out of it so we should try to be gambling responsibly from the start, use small amounts and know when to stop, finally knowing that there is no guarantee of winning.

You're right, mostly we are the brain behind our addiction problem in gambling because if we are doing what is expected by gambling responsible and not chasing our losses I don't think we should be discussing about the same addiction problem all the time. And also another strong instigator of gambling addiction is greed, when you are after big winning regardless the potential risk involved, and going above  limit at every given opportunity not minding the implications of crossing the line,  these are fact that can strengthen addiction and if only we learn to do the right thing by maintaining our financial budget and also not to be expecting more from gamble, everything will just be fine again.

it's not simply an opinion. it's a scientific fact that gambling does trigger a chemical reaction in our brain making it release dopamine and that dopamine is what our brain keeps looking for. that's why it's addictive and it's often hard to beat because you're battling your own brain chemistry

I have read all your posts and I have to admit that yes, gambling addiction is probably not the deadliest form of addiction, but it could be considered also as one of the deadliest, though others will definitely argue that substance addictions are more physically destructive.

Moreover, gambling addiction can seriously lead harming our health. It is not, when you talk about deadly addiction, you refer to one that continuous indulgence in it can kill you directly and substance addiction, alcohol and sex tops the list above it since it harms the body organs directly.

It is because money is involved and it is entertaining, people tend to get addicted to what entertains them and the fact that money is involved makes it more addicting. The possibility of making more money renews the interest even though a person is down a lot, so it makes most addict not able to control themselves to quit when they should since there is always a possibility to win big in the next try.

Well, I don't think gambling addiction is the most dangerous of all. At least because gambling addiction consists solely of psychological addiction. Other addictions cause both psychological and physical addiction. That is, addiction occurs not only in the brain, but also at the metabolic level, which explains withdrawal symptoms. These are smoking and all drug addictions from drugs, pills, mushrooms, etc. Even dependence on sugar is also such (dependence on sweets also exists, although it is not as strong as drug addiction).

It's definitely not a lethal addiction like drugs, but it also depends on the stage of addiction.
In some cases, a gambler who is addicted to gambling may become violent, and out of desperation, he or she may even kill, although usually, a gambler tends to withdraw into depression and destroy himself or herself, but this varies from person to person.
It all depends on how he reacts to the problem.

Gambling is addictive because if the profit involved. Your brain gets excited when it sees that you have won a bet. It releases dopamine which causes this feeling if pleasure. And as time goes on, because of how good you felt when you won, you will want to feel that dopamine again and again and again and again. Gambling addiction can be one of the worse nightmares that anyone could be battling and stopping it only depends on the person involved and even when he is advised to stop and he didn't control his excessiveness in gambling it won't yield any possible improvement on him, at first he or she who is addictive to gambling should be able to have self control as that's the first step of stopping addiction and avoid chasing looses because the more you chase looses the more you are open to addiction as you will keep betting to recoup all that you have lost.

Gambling addiction is bad but I don't think it's one of the worse addictions because you can't compare it with someone that do drugs and smoking all manner of substances just to get high. The possible way to curtail gambling addiction is to bet responsibly at all times and know when to gamble and when not to and also be on a budget.

Simply enough it is because during gambling sessions our brain creates dopamine which is the hormone that makes people feel good and happy so we connect gambling to pleasure because of this dopamine. The more we gamble the more dopamine our brain creates and as such when we are not gambling we start feeling not good or pleased. The main reason why gambling becomes addictive is that your inner mindset is focused on gambling. Those gamblers do this who expect to make money through gambling. If you are a gambler yourself, you will see that you are likely to lose most of your bets and in reality this is the reason for your higher losses. You need to stop gambling when the amount of losses is high. You need to be aware of this and it should be the responsibility of every gambler.

As you said, I do not agree with your statement that gambling is the most serious addiction in the world. You may be tempted to gamble due to excessive losses or in the context of making money but this is easily controllable. Set a fixed allocation for gambling and refrain from gambling in excess of that allocated fund.

No, gambling is not the deadliest form of addiction; drugs addiction are… it goes straight to affecting both your brain and organs for example (Heroin).

Drug addiction is arguably more dangerous because it harms our health. However, that may not necessarily be the most dangerous thing.

In my opinion, the most dangerou addiction is when you become addicted to something that make you lose control and ruin your life without you even realizing it. It not only ruins your health but also devastates your entire life and affect many people around you. That would be much scarier
