You know, thats not such a crazy idea. Mastercoin and Counterparty parted ways because of difference of opinion- maybe they have proved their point and it's time for both sides to get back together.

Very interesting.  It will be the first crypto currency merger.

Mastercoin has the btc.
Counter party has the bigger market cap.

Several updates:

First, JR’s new baby had some difficulties and has had an extended stay in intensive care, hence why he hasn’t been online recently.  Ron most recently spoke last week at the Israeli Bitcoin Meetup for over an hour and half about Mastercoin, its current development progress and what we’ve got in store.

Master Core is coming along nicely - very nicely - and the beta will be released on the 1st.

Today, Omniwallet Milestone v0.14 was just posted.

With Master Core about to launch its first official version the Omni team has spent the past 2 weeks spinning up multiple test instances and getting back-end code updated and changed to leverage the new data source. Milestone v0.14, aka The Train Job, has been anything but. How can it be a Job when we enjoy what we do so much. With its completion we’ve got some exciting new (and a few overdue) features available as well as the typical collection of bug fixes and ui/ux tweaks.

Milestone 0.14 Summary (See the full list of details on Github):

• Add ‘Cancel Offer’ functionality for DEx sales
• Resolved issue with inactive data visible in DEx
• Calculate Maidsafe value from exchange data
• Constantly Ongoing

UI/UX updates

• Constant rapid deployment of updated code
• Crowd-sourced Security Testing

On the Horizon:

• Send-to-Owners
• SP token values
• Continuing integration of Master Core features

We’re also working on getting a communications director, because we know we haven’t been the best at updating the community on our progress, which has been extremely fast-paced.   Needless to say, good things are happening in terms of progress.  We’ve got several important new announcements that will be happening in the coming weeks.

I also had the pleasure of being on two Bitcoin 2.0 panels in the past week - one at BTC Chicago and the other at CoinCongress SF.  Both went extremely well, and when we weren’t talking about regulation, we were talking about interoperability between platforms, and the platrforms being able to work together, echoing some of the comments above.

There are some amazing things happening in this space, and I’m proud to be on one of the teams working to push the boundaries of what Bitcoin can do.

I do have to say though, that the foundation needs to kick into overdrive somekinda of fast. If overstock goes with Counterparty I'm deeply afraid that we are going to potentially permanently lose momentum.

I know JR's got important things to do, can some kind of quorum of foundation members take decisions without him? Like is anyone on the phone with Overstock right now talking about this?

Mastercoin should concentrate on "crypto securities" because whoever overstock chooses will gain a big lead in the bitcoin 2.0.

"Real coins" (realcoin.com) maybe useful here if overstock decides to accept usd instead of bitcoins.
