I want to share something in my mind and i think many people will relate to it. So many peoples think losing is what traps gamblers. But i think sometimes it is the opposite.

It is the first big win.

Let me Explain . When someone wins big early it creates a strong belief in their mind. They start thinking i can do this again because it feels easy and  real. That moment stays with them. And after that every time they play they are not just playing the game  they are chasing that first feeling again and again . Even when they lose they does not see it as a warning. They see it as I just need one more good run.

This reminds me of something similar.

When someone tries Weed for the first time the experience can go both ways i mean 50 50 chances of smoking again . Because some peoples feel relaxed and happy and they keep going back to it. While others feel fear or discomfort sometimes increased blood pressure and heart rate maybe even anxiety and they never touch it again.

That first experience shapes everything.

Gambling works in a same way. If your first experience is a big win it can pull you deeper. If it was a bad loss maybe you would have stopped early.

So moral of the story . First win is not always a blessing. Sometimes it is the starting point of a long chase.

We have discussed this on this forum several times. The conclusion for almost everyone is yes, that early win is a trap. It will only make the gambler think that gambling is easy and he will continue to gamble before he will realise that gambling is not a what he think it is. Gambling is not a means of making money.

Yes it is, it has a way of making you believe your luck is great in gambling and making you try harder to have long-term wins in gambling which would not necessarily come by. I always believed that my big win only a week into my gambling life catalyzed my addiction struggles later on because I was gambling small and only went all in when I saw I could win huge in gambling, although ignorance of responsible gambling practices despite having wins played another big role.

I was a victim of a martingale, that so-called doubling up, will regain what you've lost. I even bragged about it until I found out, through my own experience, that it wouldn't work and would make you lose more, even if you had a huge bankroll.
The first win is good if you are aware of these traps; if you're not, you'll have false confidence you will regret later.

Its like I heard this analogy over times already. But in all of those discussion, Id say you are right. First big win ending up a trap for most since they wanna win again and do it over and over again, until that first win becomes a loss now and instead of increasing those wins they are accumulating losses which they dont wanna admit cause of addiction.

This is common thing happened  for newbies, since urge to win more is there and those people experience big wins might get convince to bet more money because they already try to win and believe that situation will occur again.

For other people this is how addiction start  and if they can't handle well their further action also spendings there's high chance that they might experience the worst situation in life. This is how important to research first and try to learn from the experience of other people, also set on our minds that huge luck sometimes came and not so we should not exceed on our limits.

I definitely believe that the first win traps a person. Whenever a person thinks that he has won a lot of money in a very short time, he becomes greedy and gets attracted to gambling. Thus, after playing for a day or two, they become addicted. But yes, a person who is addicted to gambling may become very aggressive when he loses. Maybe it’s because ever since I started gambling a few years ago, I still haven’t gotten out of it yet, so in a way I’m still trapped here.

This is very correct and I completely agree with your statement. What trap people in gambling is winning and or the hope of winning. If this hope is removed from gambling, many people will not gambling and even if they do, they will approach it so casually with little funds. A lot of players started gambling due to the money they have won or they have seen someone win which made them realise what opportunities that exist in gambling. I wouldn't categorically call this being trapped, rather I will prefer to use the word motivation for gambling. Each of use have one or two things motivating us to gamble but the ultimate aim is to win because we have either won before or knew someone who have won before.

Beginners luck? I thought that this is just a fallacy? Nevertheless yeah, every first in our life might be a trap. It's because you have a feeling that you are in total control of the game and the outcome and most likely you want to have that kind of euphoric feeling again and again.

Yeah, there are causes where it has happened like that and there are also cases where it never happened like that, despite someone winning a huge amount on their first try, they didn't gamble again. I still vividly remember a thread here last year that told us of someone who risked the only money he had on gambling because he was desperately in need of money but after winning a huge amount, they never gamble again.

The difference is not much. First gambler is a newbie the second gambler  is not a newbie, the feeling of hitting a big win is the same. Again, there will be hope of hitting big again for both gambler. If they can hit it big now they can do it again later. It is the mindset that gets affected irrespective of their discipline in gambling.  You cant tell them that hitting a big win is impossible, that's why they will surely go for it again.

I can also share the same experience, because if you don’t really analyze it well, you’ll quickly think it’s the best strategy to help you win easily. But in the end, it turns out to be one of the best ways to lose even more.

I already stopped using that strategy. Now I just focus on games where I feel there’s no real house edge, then I bet a fixed amount and just slowly grind from there. That martingale style is really more of a strategy for greedy people.
