Hello everyone,

Since many of the people on this forum are not native English speakers, we often have to use Google Translate to read and write posts on the forum. And for this, we have to leave the forum tab and go to another tab to translate. As a solution to this, I have created this script.

Upgrade Overview
I originally created this userscript to make reading long Bitcointalk posts easier without constantly copying text into Google Translate. The original v2.0 focused on translating forum posts. Now, I've expanded it into a more complete tool for both reading and writing replies. And added Voice Typing for the lazy people.

Main Features

• Post Translation: Translate individual posts into 34 available languages while keeping the original post unchanged.
  
• Direct Reply Translation: Translate your draft directly inside the reply textbox. ^New
  
• Live Voice Typing: Speak and insert recognized text directly into your reply. ^New
  
• One-Click Undo: Restore the draft saved immediately before translation. ^New
  
• Hide/Show Controls: Hide the toolbar or restore the translator interface whenever needed. ^New

Installation / Upgrade

• Install Tampermonkey if you have not installed it already.
  
• Open the project page below and install the latest published version.
• Save the script and reload Bitcointalk if you updated it manually.

Good job from you but I hope that people will use it rightly and don't try to abuse the forum with this script for plagiarism.

I mean you made a good tool but how people use it is very different and unknown. There are chances of good use with the tool and bad use with the tool but it's not your responsibility with people who want to use this tool and anything else for bad purposes.

Your script is good as it shows both the original language and the chosen translated language so it's helpful for people who want to learn a new language.

If people try to misuse it, they can do it with Google Translate. It's not like there wouldn't be misuse like plagiarism if this tool wasn't created. The OP's tool only works as a translator, the difference is that you don't have to copy and paste the text from the forum separately. The OP's tool is good, but I hope I don't need it.

Big thumbs up on the tool it's honestly an interesting one I like the fact that it gives you a preview of the translated topic and you still have the one in English.  Using a PC with this would be pretty easy moving a cusor around is no problem but is it also possible for you to add a translate all posts kinda button to make it easier to navigate for those that may use it on mobile?

Overall it's a good one plus I wanted to ask what API you are using and I just scrolled through the code and saw it's from Google well its a nice one too.

Damn you back with another user script. So it's calling the google api free version, maybe that's why the translations are as not good as they are in actual translator. Btw still it's manageable to do some quick translation. Since I don't much usercripts I think it ain't gonna usefull for me. Still it was a great user script.

All the tools or technologies that have been invented in the world, their main purpose was to benefit mankind. But people did not stop there. Over time, it has been seen that many people are using these tools or inventions for illegal or immoral purposes. So the matter actually depends entirely on the mindset and intention of the user how he will use them.

In my opinion, this user script is very useful and will be useful for many people on the forum. However, if someone's intention is bad, it is not possible to stop him completely.

You did not read my post carefully and did not actually understand it welll.
I knew about Google translate or automatic translation in browsers too, but they are different than this userscript.

The userscript provides both languages, the original language of a post and the translated one on the same screen, and it is much more convenient to use, for learning and improving your second or third language. I mean it is helpful and convenient for people who use it rightly for learning languages, but it can be misused too.

It uses Google free (API) and if another (API) was used, it would have required some cost to purchase it, but even with the free version, it is still working quite well.

When a post exceeds around 200–300 characters, the translation popup often does not appear. Another issue is that in threads with many replies, I had to copy each post manually and translate them one by one in a separate tab. This process is time consuming.

Do you mean the translation popup in the URL bar? You can actually embed the translation add-on and it won't disappear. However, your userscript is a bit different because the translation results are displayed below the original post instead of overriding it. This will prevent users from ignoring the original reference, just in case. Good job!

This is the difference and it's a better feature than available translation provided by browsers, as I already wrote in my post above.

This translator userscript makes it like a dictionary of English >< a chosen language like Spanish, Italian and any other language. It's very helpful for people who actually are not good at English but want to take advantage of their time in this English-based forum to learn, discuss about Bitcoin and improve English at the same time. It's helpful for people who can use it rightly, not only for reading or posting in the forum.

Thanks for the nice feedback. It's nice to hear that you guys are like the tool, I actually intentionally kept the original English and translated versions together, so that the context is not lost.

I will try to add this feature. However, one thing to be careful of is that if there are too many requests at once, there is a chance of rate limit or block. So there may be more trouble later.

No, I wasn't actually talking about the default translate popup in the browser's URL bar.

My problem was a little different, especially when the post was large (200–300+ characters) or the thread had a lot of replies, then manually translating one by one would be very time consuming. Also in google translator extension the translation popup wasn't showing.

Yes, it's true that the translation is not exactly the same as the paid version. But I think this translation is enough to understand the context. Since the original post is above, if you want, you can easily understand the context better by comparing the original post with the translated post.

1. Is it like universal? I mean once I set my language, wherever I go (inside a forum), whichever page I visit, the translation would come with me? Or will it only stay in a single page? I think I couldn't explain properly. I meant, is there any one click system where everything would be translated, or do i have to go one by one.
2. Every browser has a build in translate option. So why should anyone use this tool instead? What's so special that you provide that those build in functions doesn't?

The translation is a little slow, but it's a good script.

Regarding Arabic (and other right-to-left languages), the text is written from left to right and needs to have the writing direction adjusted.

If you are using Firefox browser, or any forks like Librewolf, than you don't need to install anything because it already has integrated translator.
This way you don't have to copy anything or use any external tools or websites, and you even have basic configuration settings:

Yes, this is universal. You can see this popup above all posts in the forum.

You can use the browser's default translator for full page translation. But the problem with this is that the original text will be replaced and only the translated text will be shown.

But through this userscript, you will be able to see the source + translated two at the same time. That means the source will be in the place of the source, and you can see the translation below that source post.

The translation is a little slow, but it's a good script.

Thanks for the feedback. The translation process has been made faster than before. And RTL languages are also fully supported now.

Hey man, does this voice to text typing (not transation but only typing) works on mobile devices too? I'm mostly a desktop user, and I don't have any external mic to capture voice. Although sometimes I connect my AirBuds via Bluetooth. Another question is does it include all the previous languages?

I'm a manual guy, I hand write everything, but for the sake of testing new things, I installed your userscript again. And the the voice tyoing feature isn't working.

It says "Voice error: network". My network is fine, and Yes, the microphone access is also allowed in the browser (using Airbud for the testing).

Maybe you are using Firefox browser on mobile. This is why voice typing is not working. Actually this voice typing option works through the browser's built in speech recognition. And It is only available in Google Chrome and Chromium based browsers. Firefox does not have this option. As a result, voice typing is not working.
However, as a solution to this problem, you can use the voice typing feature of Gboard on mobile.
The things is the same because I have also used Google's voice to text engine in the script.

Actually I have created this script mainly targeting PC users. Because there is no option for voice typing there.

Another question is does it include all the previous languages?

Yes, all the previous languages are available.

Wow, this update was incredible. I installed your this script before, but it didn't work for me that much so I also removed this script from my Tampermonkey.
But today, I installed this again, and honestly, it seems crazy to me, I am currently doing this post with this script you made.

Anyway, voice typing was working finely, but during translation I had to give a light touch of my own hand to bring the writing to life.

It's Brave browser to be precise, and the last I remember it's based on Chromium project, not any firefox associated. So I'm not really sure what went wrong. Any chance, Braves' builtin add blocker and certain security features might be causing this? So far I couldn't make it work, and I don't intend to switch from Brave to Chrome!

Note, internet access is OK, so does the Mic permission.

My bad, I thought you were using it on mobile. That's why I think you are using Firefox. However, I haven't tried on Brave yet. And I'm on bed now and  shut down my PC. But I'll try tomorrow and let you know what the exact problem is.

But for now could you try turning off Brave's shield protection and see if it works or not?
