Start with poor leadership then a domino effects will take place, though survival still possible if the mindsets of every citizen is to help, not entirely in participating to government related position but just being a good citizens and trying to work its way to survive without blaming anyone, it's up to your good decision making and how you'll be part of the solutions rather than being part of the problem.

As much as I want to put the government accountable for anything that I've seen they should fill.

I chose not to react that much anymore. It couldn't be help but we have to be good in our own ways as citizens and just work for our betterment.

If we don't get that much help from them, we can rely on ourselves since the basic things might have been provided by them already.

I agree that we should be part of the solution and not the problem but, we're dealing with a bigger problem if the actual government is.

Beyond stupidity, corruption is also a problem, as the state's inability to control its own officials costs people dearly. Their taxes don't fully remain in the treasury, allowing them to continue fulfilling their economic functions—new roads and supplementing public sector salaries. I've heard a funny argument about corruption being ingrained in our mentality, and it all starts when we bring flowers to a teacher's office, wanting to please a teacher whose salary is modest. We bring envelopes to the doctor's office to support his position and encourage him to treat us better in the future. But that's a misguided opinion, as stealing from the federal budget is one thing, and giving flowers to a woman is quite another.

Because of corruption, we have a bad economy, and even with the resources that are available during elections, they come, and for people to still vote them in, and at this point, people need to conclude that when they don't get what they want from these guys, they should take them out, then others will learn and not just that they need to be punished for crimes for those stealing public funds.

Because now it is actually been integrated because almost everyone who wants to go into the system wants to go there to steal, not having the economy or even how to improve the country but it will end soon because people will want to fight for the betterment of their country because a place with a bad GDP needs to be re-evaluated, and the damages all this things are causing is just something that we can not look away.

There are several problems that poor leadership can create, and from these variety of problems, even more areas of the society starts getting affected, more like a domino effect kinda thing.
But regardless of this, it’s still pretty much possible for citizens to still survive when they make the right decisions and helping others in every possible way they can, as this can really contribute possibly to the growth of the economy. You mustn’t meet themes of everyone, but touching a few lives can really make great impact.

As a Nigerian am aware that annually the senate approves the national budget for the year. This budget drives development for infrastructure, Education, Health and Defence. The federal government also allocate funds to the state government monthly through the federation account allocation committee (FAAC).To cap it all there has been an appreciation in naira. But the price of commodities in the market are still high with traders holding onto the old prices,while in the transportation sector touts and security personnel are imposing taxes on the driver giving hike to transport fare and in the education sector,The University precisely which manipulate expenses like tuition and health services  which are free into the fees paid by students.There is also a case of landlords who increase their rent annually.
I know the Government administration has been corrupt for more than a decade now but we the citizens unconsciously support this corruption.

In football terms, it's like asking if the a good who got relegated or didn't qualify for the Champions League competition is a a result of the poor performance of the manager.
Chelsea is a good example and whatever they went through this season boils down to the management and managers in charge so yes, a good government us responsible for a good economy and a bad government for a bad economy.

It's really a sad situation in your country. It's the elected government's duty to draft and manage the budget properly, but when oversight is generally insufficient, government officials focus on lining their own pockets and fail to consider the public. Instead of constantly voting for the same party, ensuring that different governments are formed is something the public must do consciously. Otherwise, members of the same party will continue to take over all state institutions and the system of corruption will never end. I hope the public gains this awareness and that you can escape this poor economic situation.

A lot of people focus on government corruption which is a real issue but sometimes we overlook the ways ordinary citizens contribute to the problem. When traders refuse to adjust prices, landlords increase rents without a good reason or people take advantage of situations just because they can, it puts even more pressure on everyone else.
I also think trust is a big issue because many business owners and traders have experienced years where inflation and economic uncertainty, so even when things start improving, they are often reluctant to reduce prices because of that fear of costs could rise again. The fear, lack of confidence in the system and that habit of passing every cost to the next person keeps the cycle going.
So honestly real progress will come when both government and citizens do their part, good policies are important, but we also need that fairness, accountability and willingness from individuals not to exploit every opportunity for personal gain. If everyone keeps pushing cost onto others, the benefits of any economic improvement will take much longer to reach ordinary people.

This thing you said is what is happening in almost every part of the world, countries have bad and incompetent people who are running the show as government and when there's no work it makes people to even see going to school as a waste of time, like a delay in life which pushes them to look at starting up a business or learning one like you said, in my country you'd see a child at the age of let me say 14-15 years not in school but in his master's care learning trade, it happens because the government have completely failed us.
For me government have every power to change the situation of a country for good and to make the citizens to live a more comfortable life but whereby all the necessary things are not available to make them feel ok it makes people to start up something different, some even choose to engage in crime just to survive. Apart from receiving a flat environment filled with opportunities one can still gain stability financially by hard work but it takes time, energy and resources before it can come to manifestation.  Before going further, I will love to emphasise on various ways government is supposed to effect positive change in the lifes of citizens.  The primary function of every government is to create a conducive environment that can be habitable for citizens, but when they fail to do so it then fails to citizens because they will fight their way out through sacrifice

Most of the governments are standing on its own and the people who sits in power there are getting replaced if a regime has changed and passed.

The government usually play a part in bad economy but citizens are the worst in my opinion, some people didn't take education serious to be able to learn more knowledge and skills that can be use to manufacture things that we majorly import from other countries. Some citizens just considered themselves as consumers, even though in some nations because of high inflation majority of individuals can't afford farming tools, still the country can be independent of food with their fertile lands and some of them still depend on imported foods. Som citizen often go far by use small excuses to  put more price in food commodities that lead to food scarcity. And the wealth people's among the citizens are not doing things that will also boost economy like factories and other economy boosting resources, instead some of them are busy buying expensive cars, houses, hotels and living luxurious life.
