Could Fury be eating nandrolone-laced boar again and the bookies know about it?  Roll Eyes
For me, Joshua also looks like a more reliable choice, simply because of his discipline and attitude towards boxing. Fury is a much bigger brand than Joshua, which is probably why cashflow skews the odds in his favor. But such an imbalance of 1.44 - 2.56 suggests that you should bet on Joshua, as for a knockout, it is far from a fact, Fury has an iron head. The maximum possible result is a technical knockout.

On the one hand I agree and I feel like Joshua should be ahead if everything goes well during his prep. On the other hand I was out of words when I saw how close Prenga was to full destruction of Joshua. I know he is calculating all the important things in a fight, but I thought if the first round would have been five minutes instead of three, Joshua may not have survived it. And Prenga is not Tyson...

I have to note this one if I ever want to bring on a good joke. Cheesy I didn't have on my radar that Fury used this as an excuse long ago. Creativity knows no limits.

Since they both lost to Oleksandr Usyk twice, I'm not sure how the odds are calculated either, but from what I understand, sports odds used by bookmakers are based on where fans put their money to make sure the sportsbook has a chance of making a profit; that's why the odds change sometimes. They also assess physical characteristics, previous defeats, defensive prowess, and recent performance.

That's what I understand as well, but bookmakers have to start somewhere, give out first odds and then I think they balance according to how fans distribute their money. They keep a house edge in the end.

I don't even see Joshua as better than Wilder...
That's the one fight I would love to watch – AJ vs Wilder. I believe that will be more entertaining and explosive than having an AJ vs  Fury bout.

Quote
...so I would not be surprised if this fight ends early with Fury winning by KO.
I don't think it will be anything spectacular like their various past bouts. From my observation, both fighters aren't in their best forms. Despite that AJ won his last fight with Kristian Prenga via TKO after he got floored earlier still doesn't give me much confidence in AJ punishing Fury for his loudmouth (which I would love, anyway). But getting TKOed by Fury is what I think won't happen. Even Fury's own recent fight last month hasn't given much bite to his intimidating pose. The fight may end in judges' decision. I don't see either of them getting knocked out prematurely.

For me, probably Joshua can knockout fury in a fight, his heavyweight punches really have a huge amount of power into it and for sure Tyson was not going to easily survive that, because his been knocked out a lot of times in a fight so it's surely not impossible to make him drop.

Fury has never been knocked out in his entire professional career.

I believe Wilder has a much stronger punching power than Joshua. And if Fury survived those knockout punches and even knocked Wilder out after recovering, I don't know why he won't survive Joshua's punches.

What was the point for Fury to fight Wach and Makhmudov? When he was in prime he used to fight once a year. Now within 3 months he had 2 fights. Fights against nobody-today-in-boxing-world. These two fights showed how rusty Fury became. Now he is planned to have a third fight in 2026. Seems like a bad joke to me. If those two fights were to test him after retirement and pause, then he is not ready for AJ. With ~1.50 odds on Fury, someone is trying to sell us shit.

Fury wasn't ready for AJ early this year. He just came out of retirement. Joshua himself wasn't ready to face Fury right away after being knocked out by Dubois and fighting a YouTuber and the accident that killed his trainer and his coach.

But it seems both are all good now. Both have taken their warm-up fights. If either of them backs out due to some flimsy reason, he must be the one who doesn't want the fight to happen, and that's mainly because of fear.

Nah, that fight could be worst, Wilder is no longer in his prime, he is just collecting paycheck for his retirement. It could be good to see that fight when they were both in their prime way back, even before they had they first lost. But once Wilder lost to Fury, it was over for him as he was not able to bounce back from that lost.

So this is the best the fight that is best for both fighter. At last they have this one last fight in them. Specially in Fury who looks like he on the sunset of his career. At least we got to see this one before they became wash up fighters.

You're right, I typed that wrong, what I mean is his been dropped or knocked down a lot of times. Note that even on the knockdown still able to win it.

So it already shows that he can get dropped but could recover and continue fighting, so for sure it will be a good fight. I mean, Joshua's style was just too straightforward for me, it was just textbook combinations but still effective. Fury has the range if Joshua doesn't do anything about that, he might get punished by Fury's Jab. Joshua needs more of a close fight to actually get to punch Fury with power.

Both boxers can absorb punches, but I think Fury has better stamina than Joshua, there were fights where Joshua got dropped and struggled to recover after that.

So in this fight, it makes sense that Fury is the favorite because I think he's simply the better fighter. I don't really see Joshua having much of a chance here since his style can be predictable, he may be quicker, but Fury is the smarter boxer.

Truth hurts, but that's the reality, it seems that after Wilder lost to Fury, he also lost some of his confidence in boxing. Maybe he's not taking his training as seriously anymore, that's why he's now losing even to boxers who are not really on the same level as the opponents he used to face.

But of course I would still love to see AJ vs Wilder, I'm just not sure if promoters are still willing to risk big money on that fight knowing Wilder is already past his prime.

I would assume that they would have insider information that we do not have. Like how they have been taking care of themselves, even, like how they are eating, training, etc, the things you and I do not know, but they know. Otherwise, if they have all the data that I have, I would put up 2.00 to both of them and be done with it lol; they can't just simply do that. I am guessing that they have more information and are meticulously checking every detail that is coming out of their camps, from small bothers like finger bent or whatever, to bigger things like gained weight and has to cut.

So I am sure that they know what they are doing, and they must be using all available data that they can gather to make sure they are providing good odds. But first, the date has to be set, and contracts have to be signed; before that, this is just a rumour. Even right now, we know it will happen, but nothing is guaranteed as of right now. We have to wait until contracts are signed and the date is set.

What I often don't understand is that the boxers often split the purse when they are about the same level. In every sport you have a bonus to fight for. Yes it could be said that they are still fighting for titles, but wouldn't it eliminate or reduce the potential for exploitation of insider information if both fighters know the winner takes home $50 million more than the other? I think it is very unique to fighting sports.

As I said once they feel they have about the right odds, they will take their cut anyway due to rebalancing of the odds and cashing in the house edge. There are huge differences from bookmaker to bookmaker. Many of them use the same odds providers and yet take a higher cut.

As for your first statement, what kind of information would they be interested in giving away before the fight? I think the fighters and the teams of those fighters still have an interest in delivering the best show. That wins them the potential to be of more interest to higher paid fights in the future.

And I am not talking about bullshit duels like Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul. Cheesy

He is currently 40 years old , so i still feel he is In a good shape to fight AJ which he will surely lose. because AJ is on another level currently.  I not sure wilder will consider fighting except he's been offered a huge amount of money as bargain. In terms of tickets sale or audience attention, AJ vs Wilder will receive very little attention, because the fans knows who will surely win. Fury vs AJ is what will entice people the most, both are still going band for band against each other, but my money is in AJ to win through TKO.

Has this fight really been confirmed? I don’t think so.

Last i heard, they said Joshua’s contract required the fight to happen in the UK but the Saudi organizers and  Netflix said that they preferred to do it in the US, this was why they stalled the whole thing.

As it is now, the fight doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen.

Joshua’s team are asking for extra money from the organizers on the condition that they would agree to let the fight happen in the US but from the look of things, i don’t think the organizers are ready to meet their demands so we might never get to see this fight happen.

What a shame.

I thought all parties had already reached an agreement, and it was just a formality before the fight is officially confirmed, but now British media are reporting on Tyson Fury doubting if the fight will happen:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/articles/cm2gj7dkl6lo

Quote
Joshua and his promoter Hearn have signed a contract for it to be staged in the United Kingdom, while Saudi organisers are pushing for a move to the United States.

"Doesn't look like they're going to sign the fight and it doesn't look like it's going to happen all because Eddie Hearn and that want more money," Fury said in a series of Instagram stories.

Joshua and Fury have separate contracts with Saudi Arabian-owned Sela. New York's Madison Square Garden is understood to be Sela's preference so that the fight - which will broadcast on Netflix - can cater for American audiences.

On Thursday, Hearn told IFL TV that a list of changes required for the fight to take place in America had been sent to Sela.

Hearn says the main change concerns compensation for Joshua because of the different tax implications of fighting in America.

"In layman's terms, by staging the fight in America, Anthony Joshua receives less money than he would do if the fight was in the UK where he was contractually agreed," he said.

To be fair, it makes perfect sense for the fighters to get more money if the organisers want to change the location if that would negatively impact their pay due to the higher tax rate in such location.
It could be the last big fight for both of them, so it's not surprising they would want to squeeze out as much as possible from the event.

This would be a very tough game as both boxers are heavy weight and also they are kind of on the same league. Joshua is slow compared to fury but I would not say that he is going to win because of this, It is actually a very difficult pick but my prediction should be on fury to win. Fury fights with such a high level of ferocity but the only problem is his age, this might be the only thing that would slow him down. Anthony Joshua is young and agile but when it comes to boxing experience Tyson fury actually has more of that and this is Also and advantage for him as well.

Maybe that's what they wanted here, to get more money, but I do  think that this fight is going to happen as we all know how influential Turki is. It's like everyone is under him including Eddie Hearn and most of the boxers.

They just have a leverage right now, but as soon as Turki talks to both party, for sure they can amend the contract right there so that the fight is going to happen. There's so many entities that have invested in this fight. They can all work it out so that everyone can get a piece of that big pie.

The incentive for everyone to get a slice of this pie is very huge and i believe that if Turki really wants this fight bad enough to make him open his chequebook again, then they might be able to reach a compromise between themselves and make the fight happen this year.

Plans to make this particular AJ vs Fury matchup to happen in the past has always fell apart even when everything seemed like it was in place and requirements had been made, it just crumbles all of a sudden because of different excuses.

Proof that not every fight negotiation is fully locked in until papers have been signed and press conferences have been held.

Looks like what they're trying to do here is protect their value, because they know whoever loses this fight will probably see his market value drop, so as much as possible they want to get the biggest payday first, or at least delay the fight.

Based on the recent developments, I don't think it will happen this year anymore, but I still believe it will happen in the future, hopefully before Fury finally retires.

Wilder got a late start in the sport. He is now almost 41 years old. On top of that, he suffered a lot of damage in those Fury fights. All of that diminished him to a great extent. He was also not all that versatile and was mostly relying on single punch knockouts. Without his confidence, he isn’t as intimidating or destructive.

He won’t ever return to being a high level contender. I think he is only staying around because he needs money to support his many children. AJ is his last hope of landing one last major payday.

With ~1.50 odds on Fury, someone is trying to sell us shit.

I'm not a boxing fan, but I do follow a few of the main events like this one. What I am is a gambling man, and as a gambling man, 2.5 odds is better than 1.5 odds.
I would rather lose money on 2.5 odds than 1,5 odds. At least I would be expecting more than half my stake with 2.5 odds. I don't stake ridiculously high, so I won't win anything for a reasonable return from 1.5.
But I'm just curious how the odds can already be set when the fight date hasn't been set yet?

But I'm just curious how the odds can already be set when the fight date hasn't been set yet?
I think those were probably just predicted odds, and sometimes bookies also open the market even before the fight is fully finalized, then if the fight gets cancelled they simply return the money to those who already placed their bets. I think I've experienced that before too.

As for the odds, it makes sense if Fury is the favorite because he has achieved more in boxing than AJ, and that is also how bettors will probably look at it. Bookies usually adjust based on how the market reacts, and for me if Fury somehow opens as the underdog, I would see that as real value and probably put a bigger bet on him.
