I want to thank all contributors on this forum who have always promote Bitcoin for the past how many years now? There was a time where only small numbers of people knows about Bitcoin but today Bitcoin is well known, thanks for your contribution.
To a greater or lesser extent, this forum has become a prime platform for Bitcoin promotion. I find the Bitcoin discussion here to be comprehensive, from technical to non-technical. Personally, I often see media outlets quoting information from this forum, and I consider this forum a hub for the information, especially about Bitcoin. I think we need to continue discussing Bitcoin, including discussions that implicitly promote it, as there is no harm in it, and it is actually beneficial for everyone. So, I think we need to contribute more, don't you think?

Speaking of privacy, it is also part of Bitcoin vision, meaning it doesn't link the users real identities. So, we must protect it, because the responsibility lies with us, right ?

You still want to ask why?

I could be that India guy working with Binance Exchange going through people's information, and passing it to my group back home, and I can make them go to people's home to forcefully collect some Bitcoin from them, at gun point or using machetes and swords.

I can be that that hacker who doesn't care about stealing from exchanges anymore, but rather prefer to go after exchanges data, KYC information and many others then bring up a dirty group of people who are good at home invasion.

Your missiion is long over fellas, Bitcoin have gotten passed that lack of awareness stage, drop everything and live a silent life, it's for you and your families sake, may we live long enough to enjoy everything we have worked for.

Stay safe out there people.
Thank you for this. It’s like reminding people to be careful in public because we know what can happen to us without our knowledge.
There might still be other options if all exchanges are required to submit KYC. Binance, for example, is taking a humanitarian approach. They’re doing this for Indonesian users who have completed the full KYC process, particularly those residing in the Sumatra region.
For those who are required to buy on a KYC-compliant exchange, what other path can they take besides that exchange, since it never crossed their minds to look for an alternative?

Guys like you do more to 'promote' Bitcoin to the very target audience you mention you don't want to know about it. What makes you think, anyway, they didn't know it before you did?

Instead, promote healthy habits with proper use of Bitcoin. Promote using Bitcoin, actually. Educate, not censor. The latter, doesn't work, results in even more miscommunication, misdirection.

There are many ways to promote bitcoin I think the only thing you should say is that the habit of promoting bitcoin with your identity should stop, if you want to promote bitcoin you can do it on social media using different identity. You can create an account for bitcoin on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram etc, and start promoting bitcoin over there. It is still a very good way to promote bitcoin but going to tell people that you have bitcoin and that you have invested in it for a very long time and they should start investing too, you should stop that because it is causing a lot of issues in the world right now I have seen a lot of people that has been attacked because they came out publicly to say that they are holding an amount of bitcoin.
So promote bitcoin without reviewing your identity just like we are doing here.

The perfect way to promote Bitcoin is through a media where your information isn't shared at all, not even a username or nickname that people knows you for, we can and should still promote Bitcoin but in a safer way.

It's like OP is from France? Because they sound like someone who just recently escaped an attempt on their life, anyways, it won't end with France, some people are thinking that France is the one with this problem but they are wrong.

Someone will as kidnapped here and been asked for Bitcoin, but the victim has none, I think he wasn't kidnapped for having Bitcoin but for his money, those kidnappers are the ones trying to avoid getting caught thinking that bitcoin will be safer for them.

~snip~
It's not a warning, it's a command, for your own good, it's not safe to talk and promote Bitcoin anymore, the world knows about it right now, the mission is already over.

I wonder where you even get the idea of giving orders to someone? In any case, you are at least 7-8 years late with this topic, because after 2017 it became clear that Bitcoin can reach a value much higher than a few hundred $, and therefore anyone who draws attention to themselves by talking about it can become a target.

Besides, what kind of missions are you talking about? Bitcoin is a decentralized cryptocurrency, not some kind of Ponzi scheme that needs to be promoted.

Just keep a low profile, we don't need to flex any wealth we have.  Even if the person is not involved in any cryptocurrency, if he keep on bragging about his income and wealth, he will be targeted by people with ill intention.

Yep, Keep being an ordinary person with extraordinary wealth. This will tend to make us calmer. I have always tried to stay private about crypto because I understand the risks. People who tend to be discreet and do not expose their assets too much tend to be safer. But most people do work by promoting and showcasing luxury items obtained from trading or whatever. Nowadays, everyone tends to be like that, because currently everyone can very easily access information through the internet. But we understand that we are fighting to promote and introduce Bitcoin crypto, while those who work as influencers do it for money. They try to get new users through affiliate links, and that generates quite a lot of money. Bitcoin crypto today has a different value because it is far from Satoshi's vision, but I also enjoy it.

I have done promoting Bitcoin a long time ago and let others taking their place to continue. Since the government becomes tighten to their rules about crypto, that makes me feels "ugh, I need to take myself back from this."

I need to hide and not telling to others that I have Bitcoin for security reason. By the popularity, that can attract bad guy commit bad things to someone who owns Bitcoin and that could be me. Better to hide myself and not tells about Bitcoin to many people.

We did that in the early stage and now Bitcoin become popular. More people will promoting Bitcoin using their way and that is not our job anymore. Bitcoin will grow and gets more popular than before.

I seek for your attention today because of what's happening in the world right now, I want you to drop your old habit about promoting Bitcoin, from now on Bitcoin will be fine, there is no need to talk or promote Bitcoin anymore.

Many don't know that bitcoin s self sustainable,we don't have to promote it and implicate ourselves at the same time, because the government may be after us, or those we introduced into bitcoin may see it otherwise and lose by any mistake they made, but when other people see what we have achieved as result from bitcoin, then they will be motivated to invest and choose to come by themselves without us putting ourselves in risk to promote Bitcoin to anyone.

This is true, we can see how rampant wrench attacks are now very common in France. There is another one that we heard of recently and which is already on this forum about a Chicago rapper with some other men went into someone's apartment to steal his coins, but they have been arrested already. I have tried to limit my talks on crypto since last year with people around me when the wrench attacks were becoming common.

Good, I've stopped talking about crypto in general, someone very close asked me if I am still investing in crypto I told him not much like before, I have no passion for it, I said this because he talks too much too. In the past weeks I have put down my fashion business sign board that has "we accept Bitcoin payment" too.

There is no point in struggling so much to have a better life and end up in kidnappers den, beating the hell out of you simply because they get a information that you have Bitcoin or something, it's now a thing here that if they know you are into Bitcoin they will start saluting as if all the bitcoin supply belongs to you.

Yeah that’s understandable, safety comes first. These kinds of attacks are scary and it makes sense to keep things private. Even with stuff like bitcoin betting or payments, it’s better not to draw attention to your holdings.

Well, let the influencers do their thing, and promote Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.
For me, when somebody hears the word cryptocurrency, the first thing that comes to their mind is "Bitcoin", so yeah... Bitcoin will be just fine if that's the case. Smiley

Aside from this forum, I'm not promoting Bitcoin anymore because I believe that my words will not reach anybody or at least those newbies. We are at a time where everything can be seen online, and there are lots of influencers out there that are making crypto-related videos as well. Let them do their thing because at the end of the day, they're making money from promoting it.

Like what I said, there are many people promoting it, and there are big names who are doing it already. Michael Saylor is one, Peter Schiff is two, Larry Fink is three, and many more. Let them do it, and as for us average people, let's just focus on accumulating Bitcoin. Smiley

The clickbait in the topic name made me laugh. But maybe someone can't otherwise present the idea that the OP wanted to convey. As for my attitude towards advertising Bitcoin, it has always been in a similar mood. I don't want to teach anyone anything, let alone take responsibility for helping them learn how to invest in bitcoin, talk about it, or do other educational activities. My position has always been that those who seek want to find out for themselves and find out for themselves. Moreover, if we rely on the threats coming from the OP, then indeed, the more we talk, the worse we do for ourselves and our loved ones.

It all depends on the kind of people you are associating with and passing bitcoin information to, you don't need to listen to side talks, information from the internet, if not you will get scared and carried away by the happens, it is normal for things like this to happen, what about traditional currencies owners and banks that are being attacked on daily basis so we say because of that we should stop using our traditional currencies or promoting it.

It is the way every individual handles or proclaim yourself and your asset that matters what and who will come after you that is why it is good to talk less and be secretive .

I want to thank all contributors on this forum who have always promote Bitcoin for the past how many years now? There was a time where only small numbers of people knows about Bitcoin but today Bitcoin is well known, thanks for your contribution.

I seek for your attention today because of what's happening in the world right now, I want you to drop your old habit about promoting Bitcoin, from now on Bitcoin will be fine, there is no need to talk or promote Bitcoin anymore.

It's not a warning, it's a command, for your own good, it's not safe to talk and promote Bitcoin anymore, the world knows about it right now, the mission is already over.

There's a catch. You don't have to reveal yourself in order to promote bitcoin.
You could be that India guy working with Binance Exchange but how would you get my binance profile without me revealing it myself ?
You could be that hacker who steals KYC data from exchanges and then leak it but that can happen with anyone. It does not relate to promoting bitcoin in any way.
But yeah, the point is to stay aware of what you are doing and protect your identity and your coins in all terms.

It can't be stop if someone still continues to promote Bitcoin for how grateful they are because it has changed their lives. While the points of OP is valid, it's about our safety when you talk to someone because you'll never know if a wrench attack will come.

If it's online, I guess that's just fine when you don't use your personal information for it. But with exchanges, we have no choice with it when we've already passed to their kyc process.

We have no control if our data gets leaked when an exchange gets hacked.

The wrench attacks and all these hacks and whatever have nothing to do with a person promoting Bitcoin, especially if they are doing it on a platform where there is privacy. It surely has to do with people trying to be oversmart, or trying to show off in front of people and bragging about how much money they have in cryptocurrencies, or how good of a trader they are and how much money they are making. These are the things that usually make people the target, because you never know who is listening and whether there are people around who are always looking for targets, and you are giving them one.

Other than that, if hackers are hacking into the systems of centralized exchanges, or insiders are leaking that data and making people with good amounts targets, then I don't think anyone can do anything about that other than to stop using centralized platforms forever, because someone tracking your wallet cannot reach you or find the address to your home if you are using a non-custodial wallet with no links to a centralized platform that has your identity information and everything.

I think I am not getting your point here bro. Please open up a bit more because from what I am understanding, you are saying the mission is already over. I think it is not. I was not promoting BTC even before this post. I never promoted it and I never advertised it. If someone were to ask a question or show some interest only then would I reply but outside this forum I have always taken a neutral side.

You do not have to stop talking about Bitcoin. That is not good for it in the long term because talking about it in public is good for business. Otherwise your optimism is appreciable bro.

But really we just have to take a neutral side when talking about it. You do not have to tell anyone about your holdings and that should be what we are hiding and staying silent about.

You're really into clickbait, aren't you?

There are several ways to promote Bitcoin without revealing your identity, such as on this very forum. So, don't promote Bitcoin because you are going to get a $% wrench attack is quite narrow minded to say the least. As for the idea that Bitcoin doesn't need any more promotion—you only have to look at how its price has evolved over the past five years to see that a little more promotion wouldn't hurt.

I'll do whatever I want; you don't get to tell me what to do.

Bitcointalk has Bitcoin in it's name, it's a bitcoin forum.

Bitcointalk doesn't require KYC information to own an account.
Bitcointalk forum has nothing to do with centralised entities with preying eye everywhere.

Let the news, radios, and other means of advert do the talking from here on, Bitcoin will keep doing fine, as for the price supply shock is forever a thing with Bitcoin.

The presidents of most countries know about Bitcoin, ETFs for Bitcoin got approved, BlackRock is now into Bitcoin full time, there is nothing else for a mouth runner to do here.

I get what message you are trying to convey to us.  Come to think of it, I as an individual, without any store, I come to think what is my benefit in advertising Bitcoin to my peers.  I am not involved in affiliate marketing. People who get persuaded to invest in Bitcoin, the Bitcoin network doesn't even give me a cent as a reward; instead, it is possible to get hate reactions if those friends' investments fail.

Aside from that, those with ill-intentioned people think that I am packed with Bitcoin and may endanger myself and my family for possible attack.  So, to be honest at this point I agree with you that advertising and promoting Bitcoin if we are not into any business will only put us at risk.  If we want to help raise Bitcoin awareness, we can just give links and never make ourselves as a testimony on how it elevates our living, and it is best if we do the promotion  in an anonymous account.

A company like Binance will have a tiered access control system where customer support might not need to know the personal address of the customer if you are pointing in that direction.

A Nigerian crypto prince scam is highly likely to happen Tongue but anyone working in a reputed firm like Binance or any reputed exchange will have their personal details submitted when you start working with them and if you are stupid enough to do something silly, then the authorities will handle the situation swiftly.

You are wrong, authorities are monitoring this forum, case in point the Silk Road founder posted here initially about his website with his alias and the mistake he did was he posted outside the forum with the same alias leaking his personal mail ID by which the authorities were able to track him.

The presidents of most countries know about Bitcoin, ETFs for Bitcoin got approved, BlackRock is now into Bitcoin full time, there is nothing else for a mouth runner to do here.
This is where technical development, bug discussions, UI, wallet, software changes and economic viability were initially discussed and it will continue like this and this forum is literally the starting point of the entire crypto ecosystem and have a historical significance and no one is forced to be the mouth peace.
