I agree to a great deal that financial management is good, but from my experience with inflation and its effect on prices of goods and services, people are hardly able to live well with small income nowadays. It's better everyone aspires to make more money even though they're trying to manage their income  very well, the truth is that things are now very expensive and most small income earners can barely sort their finances, and they live steadily on loans, so it is better to focus well on making enough money to sort out your bills effectively while you manage your cashflow to prevent unnecessary wastages.

Hard work alone is often not enough in today economy, but I don’t think hard work has become irrelevant and in many cases hard work is what gives most people that income needed to acquire assets in the first place.
