As far as I know, even a cleaner in an EU country earns more than an engineer in Russia. A country possessing such vast resources is languishing in poverty and a lack of rights. No matter how hard you work, the outcome remains meager. There is no point in working tirelessly; it leads nowhere, yet it can cause health problems.

Life is good only for government officials and lawmakers. They certainly have no complaints about their lives—after all, luxury and wealth have become their hallmarks.
I think it is very important not to generalize every workers situation across an entire country because the wages and living conditions in various countries actually depends on the kind of profession, the kind region, and also cost of living and the main issue is whether ordinary workers actually see the benefits of the country economic resources through decent wages, or opportunities, or maybe social services. Tho your points are valid most especially about how natural resources do not guarantee good standard of living.
You are right. No matter how much natural resources a country has, it is not right to judge the living standards of the common people of that country. Because we have to consider first whether those natural resources can generate income for that country. And if the government of a country is corrupt, even if the income is generated by exporting the resources of that country, the government does not distribute that income properly. Due to this no significant change can be seen in the lifestyle of the people of that country. And you are right that a lot depends on the living conditions. Two people can work for the same amount of salary, but if one person lives in a city where everything is more expensive. Then despite the same income, the financial status of the two will not be the same. When the living standards of the common people of a country change, the benefits will actually be available only when they can enjoy the facilities.

I agree that hard work is very important but in our society today hard work alone can’t guarantee wealth. A person can work for long hours and still find it hard to go about life, if the income doesn’t correspond with his expenses.

That’s why ownership of assets and businesses is very crucial . If a person can combine hard work with  ownership and investment that person will create more doors for financial growth. But we shouldn’t forget that ownership has  risk, and it’s not all investment that will do well.

Hard work should be necessary for everyone if you intend to survive in a country where there are little or no good plans for the common man but in doing so much you have to position yourself in the right direction where your work or craft will be noticed and appreciated else you will end up working so hard with peanuts as you take home salary. Bills are much and you need to be employed in a good company to be well paid so if you have the finance to start up a business then that's going to be a better way you can have the rewards for all the hard work you will be doing for yourself. Mind you the business you venture into doesn't automatically make you rich you still need to ensure you manage it properly before it can be bringing good profit to you.

Just working smart isnt gonna do it either. To build real wealth, you need both, along with a lot of other thing.

AI engineers and people earning high incomes in the tech industry are not just working smart. They are often working much harder than many other people as well.  They have to keep learning, keep up with new thing and spend a lot of time improving their skill. If you have ever watched interviews with Elon, you probably know he has said he works 16-18 hours a day, not just 8 or 6 like most of us.

It could say successful people do not rely on working smart alone. IMO, working smart and working hard are both important, and they work together. One can't really replace the other.

Exactly. If you only rely on working smart that's really not enough to build wealth for the future. You can see it from many wealthy people in the world, even those in the tech industry who earn high incomes in reality if we look from the beginning it's because they keep learning follow new trends and sharpen their skills intensely. They even work much harder than most people, so this proves that efficiency alone can't replace dedication and perseverance in the long run.

So really, working smart and working hard actually complement each other and are equally important to achieve success. Without hard work, the smart ideas you have just stay in your head, but without intelligence your hard work can also be wasted. In the end, both have to go hand in hand so that someone can not only survive but also grow achieving sustainable results in the long term.

Using intelligence and hard work in achieving success, these two things can never be considered separate, rather when these two are one, it will create more possibilities in the journey of achieving success. Yes, intelligence cannot be said to be the only key to success, rather if hard work is not associated with intelligence, then it will never create success for you. So, like you, I also think that it is more reasonable to see smart work and hard work as complementary rather than as alternatives to each other.

In the end, to move forward in the long run, not only talent or just hard work, but also right guidance, continuous learning are very important. Many times people face many failures due to lack of right guidance. That is why having a mentor makes the matter easier, although having a mentor is not mandatory for success, but if there is one mentor, then achieving success together with everything mentor, hard work, smart work, patience, consistency becomes much easier.

Starting a business never guarantees success,  what matters is how the business is managed. Many invested huge capital in business believing that is the end of their suffering but at last it never end there while others that had little invested in sane business with good management it yield profit result at last. Therefore it doesn't matter what is invested in business,  what matters is how it is managed. And to manage this said business,  it requires relentless hardwork and other factors,  if not all will turn to zero at last that is why hardwork is never excluded in the ladder of success.

If only investing a lot of money could make you successful in business, everyone would do business and be rich. Being successful in business is very difficult and the risks are very high. I think business is a game where there are losses and wins. The more one can use his talent and creativity, the more likely he is to succeed. However, along with using talent and creativity, one has to work hard and take risks. And that is why not everyone can do business, and those who succeed in business can earn the most money. Some people start businesses with small capital and become successful, while others start businesses with large capital and become destitute. Therefore, it must be accepted that if you want to do business, you will need creativity and hard work, as well as the ability to take risks in making investments.

I can say with certainty that the abundance of natural resources brings no benefit to the people. The president’s inner circle has seized control of them all; only they reap the massive profits from selling these various resources. They buy huge yachts and estates, with no idea what else to do with all that money.

They do not even engage in charity, considering it a waste of funds—unlike the direct bribery of the president, for whom they build enormous palaces and purchase the most expensive lifestyle luxuries.

A couple of decades ago, we lived by the saying; "hard work ensure success".
In recent times, that is however not the case, as the whole system is evolving.

One can consider working for more hours as hard work, consider that with the wages on display currently as in most cases wages don't match the level of work, and the drastic economic situations, expenses are sure outweighing incomes from wages.

Hard work can lead to productivity and productivity can lead to more income for owners, not workers, as workers may be compensated with just a little pay rise. This then leads to my point, wealth comes from ownership of assets; such as businesses, real estate and even stocks, and not necessarily by hard work, systems are changing, and ownership income is increasing.

Hard work gets you there for sure, but it's no longer enough, ownership is the wealth engine!

Hard work guarantees success, the reason why i say that is because if you don’t work hard you will not be able to achieve your dreams, have you see a lazy person achieve their goals? Or have you seen someone who doesn’t work hard get what they want? People who are successful today are hard working people and I believe if you are also not hard working person, you will not be in the position you are today.

Many rich people you see today has been through some difficult times and work gives them the opportunity to become successful is hard work, no matter how is it, if you work hard you will succeed, the only thing that can stop you, is if the work is not something that will pay off in the end.

I agree that someone with a strong work ethic should either build their own business or acquire skills that increase their value. At the very least, one should work for a company that rewards hard work with a decent salary. I believe that hardworking individuals can channel their energy into running a business, as business ownership is not suited for those with a lazy mindset or an unwillingness to put in the effort. If starting a business isn't feasible due to a lack of capital or knowledge, then learning high-value skills is an excellent alternative. A friend of mine who used to work as a shop cashier decided to become a content creator because of his great sense of humor; he worked hard to master editing techniques and content creation. Now, he is able to invest the income he earns from content creation.
Ultimately, if you simply work hard without seeking better opportunities, you will likely never achieve wealth. After all, if hard work alone equated to wealth, then construction workers or ride-hailing drivers would be wealthier than government officials or business owners.

I think people who master more complex skills have a much better chance of securing jobs where competition is lower, but that requires time and months of preparation. For example, being a full-stack JavaScript developer is extremely lucrative. Positions that demand both backend and frontend expertise, combined with AI skills, pay exceptionally well. But do you know what holds most people back? For a complete beginner, a course to gain real knowledge and valuable experience takes at least eight months. Is it worth it? Absolutely, but for someone in urgent need of money, taking that time is even harder.

I believe people are demotivated not only by the long path to mastering a new profession, but also by a lack of interest in what they do. It is interesting that you brought up this example, because I very often see job postings with that title. Recently, I have been researching how difficult it is for a non-tech person to acquire these skills, as well as what exactly and where one needs to study to become a full-stack developer. What interests me most is whether this is a good fit for me, since I have never worked with anything like this before. However, I see that the world is changing, and one needs to switch to what is in demand, and unfortunately, that is not analytical philosophy, to which I have devoted years of my life.

Hard work definitely gives birth to luck but you have to work hard with the right decisions. Many people work hard for a long time but do not get success due to their lack of talent. To be successful you have to be talented and work hard in the right place. In terms of jobs, many people stay in the same position for a long time because of their lack of effort or they do not want to gain more skills but there are many who work hard and achieve success in a very short time.

In terms of investment if you think about it many investors are making losses and many are making high profits from that market situation. The reason for this is that they gain experience through hard work experienced investors analyze the market and hold continuously and withdraw at the right time.

That why it is important as a supposed business owner or business owner, to have a good business plan and strategy before starting that business and even in the business because you can change strategy at any time after discovering new ideas. A business needs planning and not just rush into one and tomorrow it collapses.

Management you talked about is also very important, one must know how to manage their business properly to be successful in that business and to be able to do that there are certain skills required.
Also as a business owner, being financially disciplined and patient will help your newly acquired business.

Hmm I get your point. I fully agree that nobody makes it without hard work.  Hard work is a must on the road to success, no doubt.

But imo saying hard work alone guarantees success is not really accurate. To succeed, hard work alone is not enough. We also need knowledge, skills. We also need opportunity and sometimes even a little luck.

That's why many people work very hard, but still don't get what they want. Because they may be going in the wrong direction or lacking other necessary elements.

A business can be profitable, but it can never be risk-free. And so you have to abandon this mentality that more capital means more opportunities, and investing more money will bring quick profits. In the right business, you can achieve a good amount of success even with a small amount of capital, but if the business is in the wrong place, then no matter how much capital you have, it will not take long for you to lose everything there.
So the main thing in a business is proper research, considering how much risk there is, looking at your own capabilities, and at the same time understanding how well you can manage it. You have to invest after considering everything well, work hard, do research, use intelligence to manage the business properly, everything is necessary. But at the end of the day, we certainly cannot achieve success from anything risk-free, and at the same time, it is not possible to achieve success from anything overnight.

You explained better what is happening over here in my clan not even to talk about my country, when I traveled out of the state and those around me get to know the area am coming from, they will be like am not supposed to be there working with them because they believe everyone from my clan are doing very well and doesn't deserve to be jumping up and down for greener pasture, this is because my clan is one among the oil and gas producing host communities in my state, but guest what? We have corrupt leaders and why we only get to be answering big names when we are outside without enjoying the dividend that we are supposed to, nothing significant can be talk about in the life of the common inhabitants while people out there thinks we are having things or living in aboudance.

It requires capital to start a business, but capital can’t fix poor decisions you know. A person who really understands their customers, adapts to problems and controls expenses, even with a limited fund can successfully build something sustainable, while a larger investment on the other hand could potentially disappear without a trace if all the investor is good at is making bad decisions and has a very poor management skills. The size of the capital or money invested in a business is merely just a part of the equation, the real deal is how the resources is been used.

Some people believe that the authorities share the revenue from resource sales with their citizens, but this is far from the truth—it simply does not reflect reality. Of course, it is human nature to be mistaken, which is why they view the situation this way.

There is a complete lack of understanding that all resources have been seized by a ruling mafia unwilling to share with anyone. These scumbags believe that because they have reached the very top, the entire country belongs to them—that they can do whatever they please with it. And what about the people? Are they really in a position to do anything against an armed military and various security services that answer directly to these thugs?

A couple of decades ago, we lived by the saying; "hard work ensure success".
In recent times, that is however not the case, as the whole system is evolving.
Only work is not guarantee of wealth. What really can build a good income in the future is save every month a part of the salary, thinking in a extra income or in the retirement. Study, keep updated with the new technologies and give the best in the company to get promotions help have a good salary. This alone will not enrich nobody, but is enough to conquer a financially comfortable life.

Does working and "saving money" even matter anymore? Saving money in cash or fiat is another waste of time. I understand what you mean though but it's good to emphasis that it's not advisable to save money in cash anymore due to inflation. It is better to save any money left after taking care of your responsibilities, saving it rightly, think of saving it in bitcoin. Bitcoin is a headway if you're thinking of real wealth.

Getting an alternative source of income is another good point you made here. One source of income is not a good thing because should anything happen to your job, then you are left to suffer until when next you get another job. Having alternative source of income will also help you to have more savings and invest more because it will give your larger discretionary income from which which you can invest better.

However, some people are outdated by generations which is another limitations. Nowadays, Gen Z make more money faster than the older generations that believed entirely on hard work. So we may try to keep up with technology at all time no matter how difficult it seems to be

The thing is that one should know how to manage their finances, because having only a salary cannot guarantee wealth. But most salary earners undergo financial pressure, even before their salary comes in, especially if they have families to take care of. And after paying all the bills, they will realize that there is nothing left for them to save. That is why it's important for one to also invest in a side business, so that even if their salary is not enough, they can use the profits from their investment to supplement their salary, which can help them achieve their financial goals.
