Your confidence as a gambler is important

I was thinking basically about how we discuss the behaviors of gamblers how they lost a huge sum of money or how they kept on playing without considering the side effects of their actions and the it struck my mind that they must have something in their minds that would trigger them to make those decisions and then I realized that it's "Confidence".
The reason why we treat some bets differently from other isn't because we just want to loss big or expose ourselves to too much risk, it's a matter of confidence that we have toward something( the odds, desperation of the team, players available....) and most of our gambling decisions is based on some level of confidence, if it's something you're unsure of you are likely going to skip the game at the selection stage before it gets to your bet or place small stake on the bet.

For me, confidence in gambling isn't a problem, but "overconfidence" in every bet we do can be a major issue. It can lead to irresponsible gambling, whether it is chasing excessive losses, even a losing streak. Essentially, anything considered "excessive" in gambling is bad, and the most important thing is to not overdo it, especially when setting a gambling budget. Therefore, I advise anyone (including myself) not to overdo anything in any activity, including gambling. Basically, anything in excess is bad.

Is there any activity, that if done excessively can be a good thing? I don't think so, do you think there are?

There are so many factors that can help a gamblers to have an increase in profit when gambling and being confident is the shallow aspect in the presence of important factors like having the skill, knowledge and experience all supercede having just the confidence that you are going to make money from a particular bet.

It is not assured if we have so much confidence when we gamble, the chance of increasing the profit is there but it won't give that warranty that we'll increase the profit. While it is important, think of it that having too much of it will define what kind of gambler you are. It's as bad as it can get when we're so optimistic about it. The way how gamblers look at their own confidence can even make them so much in losses if they'll have high confidence.

Overconfidence may put you in trouble. Not just in gambling. Confidence without skills is just arrogance. You are in for a rude awakening eventually if you continue on like that.

But the problem is becoming overconfident. It is good to have confidence in gambling, but it is not good to have full confidence in winning. Gambling is always uncertain, when you start being completely confident in betting against nature, then your path to fall is solidified. Even if you are confident, you may bet small at first, but when your confidence level is exceeded, it is natural for your bet amount to increase. At some point, the amount will be at a level that if you lose, your life will be at risk, at that time a defeat is enough to change your life.

I am still thinking whether it is possible to gamble with confidence but not have full confidence in winning. I thought gambling with confidence also mean having confidence that you will win your gambling games because I see winning as the end goal and the motivating factor that can push you to gamble confidently in the first place. You know gambling also involves staking money. When you don’t have the confidence that you will win, how are you able to confidently stake your money. I think if I was to put it better I will say it is good to gamble with confidence but not good to stake an amount of money that you can’t afford to lose when it goes in the process since having a confident mindset towards gambling and winning is not a yardstick that you should pack all your money and put it inside the gamble.

Yea, I agree with you, confidence with skill is just a doom process waiting to fail and I have seen this over confidence make alot of persons miss interpret team match analysis and bey wrongly, so yea I get you. The things is you as a person need to hold yourself accountable so you can detect when it's confidence in play or just plain stupidity.

Sure confidence can both speak positively and negatively I all depends on how the individual handles they confidence and their outcome or results will determine how well they confidence level have speak out for them, most times, available results is what is used as basis to measuring your confidence level wether you being over confidence in your gambling decisions or just making use of you guts to make the best gambling decisions.

The more you follow the strategy in gambling, the more perfect your research becomes, and the more perfect your research becomes in gambling, the more likely you are to win.
So if you can accurately distinguish between two teams, then of course your chances of winning are high, and which team's coach is more experienced and their aggressive attitude, all these things must be researched perfectly.
Then it will be possible to have confidence in gambling, if you bet on gambling and are confident, then confidence will never play any role in winning. So gambling is best for you to make the most of your strategies.

Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with self-confidence, because it strengthens your conviction to place a bet on the team you believe will win, so it is indeed necessary. However, on the other hand, it can also lead to expectations that may not be met and your level of disappointment might be higher because of those expectations.

One thing you must instill in yourself is that in gambling, everything is purely speculation, no matter how skilled you are at analyzing or predicting bets, it all ultimately comes down to luck at that moment. Confidence is good, but it must be accompanied by sound risk management.

It is true that confidence in gambling can never bring positive results to win in gambling you need not only a positive attitude you need the right research strategy and most importantly luck if luck is not with you then your research strategy and positive attitude will not work properly. I think it is absolutely wrong to be overconfident in gambling as it increases the risk of losing money and it becomes difficult to maintain self-control over yourself thus gradually increasing the chances of addiction.

If it's true, having too much confidence in the game, in our game that we're going to win, is very negative because that confidence makes things turn against us. Because confidence seeks to have the certainty of winning, and when we don't achieve it, we keep trying until we do, and that implies doing things we shouldn't, like betting with the martingale or things like that, which are extreme just to achieve the goal of the day. It's not good to do it that way.
