Your confidence as a gambler is important

I was thinking basically about how we discuss the behaviors of gamblers how they lost a huge sum of money or how they kept on playing without considering the side effects of their actions and the it struck my mind that they must have something in their minds that would trigger them to make those decisions and then I realized that it's "Confidence".
The reason why we treat some bets differently from other isn't because we just want to loss big or expose ourselves to too much risk, it's a matter of confidence that we have toward something( the odds, desperation of the team, players available....) and most of our gambling decisions is based on some level of confidence, if it's something you're unsure of you are likely going to skip the game at the selection stage before it gets to your bet or place small stake on the bet.

For me, confidence in gambling isn't a problem, but "overconfidence" in every bet we do can be a major issue. It can lead to irresponsible gambling, whether it is chasing excessive losses, even a losing streak. Essentially, anything considered "excessive" in gambling is bad, and the most important thing is to not overdo it, especially when setting a gambling budget. Therefore, I advise anyone (including myself) not to overdo anything in any activity, including gambling. Basically, anything in excess is bad.

Is there any activity, that if done excessively can be a good thing? I don't think so, do you think there are?

There are so many factors that can help a gamblers to have an increase in profit when gambling and being confident is the shallow aspect in the presence of important factors like having the skill, knowledge and experience all supercede having just the confidence that you are going to make money from a particular bet.

It is not assured if we have so much confidence when we gamble, the chance of increasing the profit is there but it won't give that warranty that we'll increase the profit. While it is important, think of it that having too much of it will define what kind of gambler you are. It's as bad as it can get when we're so optimistic about it. The way how gamblers look at their own confidence can even make them so much in losses if they'll have high confidence.

But the problem is becoming overconfident. It is good to have confidence in gambling, but it is not good to have full confidence in winning. Gambling is always uncertain, when you start being completely confident in betting against nature, then your path to fall is solidified. Even if you are confident, you may bet small at first, but when your confidence level is exceeded, it is natural for your bet amount to increase. At some point, the amount will be at a level that if you lose, your life will be at risk, at that time a defeat is enough to change your life.

I am still thinking whether it is possible to gamble with confidence but not have full confidence in winning. I thought gambling with confidence also mean having confidence that you will win your gambling games because I see winning as the end goal and the motivating factor that can push you to gamble confidently in the first place. You know gambling also involves staking money. When you don’t have the confidence that you will win, how are you able to confidently stake your money. I think if I was to put it better I will say it is good to gamble with confidence but not good to stake an amount of money that you can’t afford to lose when it goes in the process since having a confident mindset towards gambling and winning is not a yardstick that you should pack all your money and put it inside the gamble.

Yea, I agree with you, confidence with skill is just a doom process waiting to fail and I have seen this over confidence make alot of persons miss interpret team match analysis and bey wrongly, so yea I get you. The things is you as a person need to hold yourself accountable so you can detect when it's confidence in play or just plain stupidity.

Sure confidence can both speak positively and negatively I all depends on how the individual handles they confidence and their outcome or results will determine how well they confidence level have speak out for them, most times, available results is what is used as basis to measuring your confidence level wether you being over confidence in your gambling decisions or just making use of you guts to make the best gambling decisions.

The more you follow the strategy in gambling, the more perfect your research becomes, and the more perfect your research becomes in gambling, the more likely you are to win.
So if you can accurately distinguish between two teams, then of course your chances of winning are high, and which team's coach is more experienced and their aggressive attitude, all these things must be researched perfectly.
Then it will be possible to have confidence in gambling, if you bet on gambling and are confident, then confidence will never play any role in winning. So gambling is best for you to make the most of your strategies.

I'll start by saying nothing is certain in gambling even a big team or favorite team in their best form can still lose to an underdog by performing poorly on that match. So that would mean our confidence level should drop to 50% irrespective of the kind of teams playing. But as humans we likely wouldn't treat every game desame way probably because of the stat and desperation of the teams playing, irrespective of how informed any team is, your confidence level shouldn't exceed 60% because the greatest factor of luck still stands.

Yes, I totally agree with you on the very point you just made about confidence and luck playing a key role why must people win a bet while gambling. Because irrespective of how confident a gambler might be before placing a bet, it still doesn't stop the fact of his team to not perform well or either perform excellently well yet not privileged to win the match after the entire 90 minutes. Hence, the need why it's important people just need to gamble with an amount they can always afford to lose on each bet, so that in a scenario like this whereby our prediction doesn't go as planned, we will still have every reason not to be upset, simply because it was a money we could confidently afford losing.

Confidence in gambling isn’t really a big deal. At the end of the day, we’re just testing our luck here, and the rest is about accepting the losses and moving on.

Yeah confidence really helps in every area of life, not just gambling alone…. Even outside betting, when you trust yourself and your decisions more, things usually go smoother than when you don’t.. And in gambling especially, indecision can really mess someone up..

Winning is never certain, we can never be sure that we will win the game. That is why excessive unnecessary confidence in gambling will most of the time lead us to more losses than gains. When someone cannot accept the results naturally, then the situation can go from bad to worse in a very short time. Because the mentality of sure win and loss recovery in them does not let them stop but forces them to continue playing excessively. So here it is very important for us to be responsible, we must be ready to adhere to our own limitations well.

As a gambler we should be confidence when gambling, but we shouldn’t be carried away, we shouldn’t be overconfident sometimes because it’s just going to make you lose more money as a gambler. That is for sure, no prediction is 100% guarantee but some people are so gullible to believe that they can win a game that they referred to as sure bet,  that confident alone makes most gamblers to even stake with money that doesn't belong to them and some will go loan to play. I agree with you, blind confidence can encourage us to continue to pursue what we want even though the results are still not achievable, so in my opinion, don't be too confident in gambling because this can also make us trapped.
 
The more important thing than that is that when we gamble, make sure that the budget we use is in accordance with our own abilities and not the budget to be used for other things such as meeting needs.

It is not that we will get benefits in gambling if we have confidence, but when confidence is high and we bet based on that, many times it happens that we face loss. Because if we talk about sports betting, many times it is seen that even strong teams are losing to weak teams.

This is very true, before placing a bet, I do have a certain degree of confidence on that game, and if it's a parley (it's almost always a parley for me), my level of confidence varies from game to game. In some games, I could be like 80% sure, and some 60% sure, some as sure as 100% , but I just them most times because they seem to be d better option then.

But d truth is, it doesn't matter how confident u are, it has absolutely nothing to do with d outcome. There are some times I do get a better result from less confident games, so even if you lower your confidence score, which is same thing as reducing ur expectation, it absolutely won't change d outcome.

So even though ur confident in a game, hope for d best while expecting d worst. Your analysis and strategy might give u a level of reassurance, but always have it at d back of ur mind that anything can happen.

Actually, confidence level definitely matters because logical confidence issues mainly come based on analysis, such as whether a team is an underdog team or a strong team. These can only be said based on analysis. And after all this, a bettor basically gets the confidence to stake. So I think confidence is definitely needed in gambling, especially in sports betting.

However, I would also like to mention that confidence is good, but overconfidence can lead us into the opposite trap, because in the case of overconfidence, we often end up staking beyond our ability to lose, and later the loss weakens us financially. So we have to keep this in mind so that we don't become overconfident when it comes to betting.
