Some may not see the harm in animals fighting bloodily just to win cash for their owners because many of these animals are just food at the end of the day and some grown just for the sole purpose of this.
There's been many stories like this like rainbow valley, Arizona bust, but am sure the main reason for this kind of bust is because of the high volume of cash betting involved, making it more like an illegal underground casino or even an underground narcotics hub.

If you must bet, please do so legitimately and under a well regulated and transparent platform so as to avoid funds being seized or accounts frozen or lawsuit by government looking for scapegoats to prosecute.

That's so weird take. Even if something is raised for food and to be killed, why would it mean that cruelty against those animals wouldn't matter. Would these people argue that cruelty against old or terminally ill people wouldn't matter either as they are dying soon anyway?

Also i am sure that there's a venn diagram overlap with people who allow cockfights, because they are "only animals", and those same people would be devastated if same thing would happen with their pets. This is from USA after all, and they like their pets.

Did I just read it right? that the "birds" or roosters have to be euthanized? What? so, that means that these were went through the fight already but it's possible that some of them are still fine and they just have to include it to the euthanasia so that everything is done and can be said that they're all in terrible condition. They cared for these animals and they have to kill it as well with the usage of "mercy killing". The irony and pity.

The sad thing is, this happens a lot. From what I know, it will be expensive to house those roosters while finding people who can take them, and it could take a while to find someone who can take those roosters. I'd assume the government wouldn't want to spend money on it, so euthanising them all will be easier and cheaper. They used to do it, too, on dogs that were taken from underground dog fights, but as far as I know, they don't do it now, unless the dog is very aggressive.

That makes sense and so they just ended up euthanizing all of it if not most of it. Because taking care would be costly for them and that's just like one solution after all to say that all were in bad condition so they have taken an action to do it.

I don't understand your diversion or argument regarding euthanizing the birds. Are you saying that some healthy birds were affected because the government wants the number to be high? But I think the government might be right to kill these birds if they are in bad shape. Some of them might have suffered permanent disabilities due to violent fights. So a painless death might be the best option to end thier sufferings. In my location, wounded animals are slaughtered and used for food. Euthanization of the birds would be seen as waste of resources some people's views.

The idea of using animals and causing harm to them all in the name of gambling has never enticed me before. These are animals, they don’t think like us human and they can’t say they won’t participate when they’re being forced to do it or they’re being triggered to see their partner as opponent to kickstart the fight. If they can talk and make decisions for themselves, then that is fine by me, but like this, I don’t think it’s a good thing. Countries that have legalized such gambling are not many I think, and mostly people do it suddenly without the idea of the operatives. There are many sports out there one can participate in, but using animals as participants for gambling is never been an amazing thing to see or experience.

Well, just look at the very popular horse racing. It is just the same. It has long been enjoyed by so many people betting in horse racing. Even elite people do. So for me, there's no difference when they used roosters, they are also animals and so with the horses. Maybe, they just need to legalized cockfighting because people will always conduct such fights. Do remember, humans are innate gamblers since time immemorial. So better just let them do this gambling activity and regulate it. I still don't know how people can stomach the fact that animals are being pitted against each other against their will to fight a bloody fight. That shit is just too heartless for me to even think of participating in it. If we talk about killing them for food, I think that's a bit better because they won't have to go through some gruesome experience before being killed.

In my country, there's no official cock fighting matches, the only sets of people I see doing it are children and it's usually when the fight happens naturally between two cocks.

It's what they want to do and that's to dispose all of them at once. They're in the looks of caring for these animals but the actions can be hidden from the eyes of the public to scrutiny.

I believe cockfighting is rather an acquired taste and has much to do with the culture one is raised in. If one is raised in rural areas where it is common to train and bet on animal fights, when one is more likely to grow up and accept it as per of their life and culture.
On the other hand, if one is raised in cities which are very far away from fighting pits, when one do not see the need of those blood sports to even exist, as they are not part of one's culture and life.

Either way, I believe it is not proper of a civilized society to get amused by the suffering of other living beings. I agree completely with your opinion, but one thing you have to realize is that humans beings may be the same but our heart and what we believe in aren't the same, if some people can have the heart of killing their fellow human being not just by gun but by cutting their throat or by cutting off the head of the person, then what is there in having to watch cocks shed and spread blood in a bloody cockfight?

Most of the livestocks we have now came as a result of selective breeding which took thousands of years and healthy species to achieve this, the same way those cocks might be for picking the superior breed that helps with producing the chicken. Possible but I doubt that cock fighting have enough monetary benefits to cover the research, lab and all the expenses to create genetically modified cocks, if it happened then they would already sold that for profits to some rich fell who is obsessed with cocks.
