In a lottery, I do believe that it's a waste of money. In scratch cards, well, I have won some good amounts there. Oh, and my wife loves playing scratch cards even for just 2 or 3 cards when we go to the mall. So, I have no choice but to buy.

Anyway, that was a damn good coincidence for them if the story is real. I mean, the chances for that to happen are very low, and she still got it. Because of this, you may run out of money and become broke. However, if gambling is not affecting your finances and you are wagering an amount that you can afford to lose, I don't think it is a waste.
