The system favours them, so they will do anything to uphold it. The more ignorant and illiterate the people are, the easier it is to control them. For this reason, they will make sure to continue to keep the people that way. They weaponise poverty so that once they offer these poor people peanuts, they will be grateful and praise them for it.
People like that can't rise up. If there is an uprising, all the politicians need to do is give the illiterate and ignorant ones some peanuts, and they will fight for them.

Nothing can be done, because they simply refuse to accept criticism and suggestions from their own people, due to their utter greed and avarice.

Something can be done, but those countries are not ready to do it. Nobody hands over power. Human beings are by nature a people of anarchy. This is why there are laws (written or unwritten) in every organisation that humans are involved in. It is futile to expect a human being to simply do what is right. This is why there are laws and punishments for those who break them and a system that makes sure everybody is bound by those laws.
Haven't you thought about the fact there streets need speed bumps? I mean, every human being should know that you are not supposed to speed in a busy street, or a school area where there are kids, but no, there has to be a system that will stop idiots from speeding.
There has to be a camera on a traffic light because humans won't obey it if there is no one there. That is the nature of humans.

So, as a society or people, politicians will only do what you allow them to do. A politician can do whatever he wants in a country, and he would still work freely because people don't say "No, we can't take this". They are either too scared to talk, or worship him too much to speak against him, or they simply don't know it's their job to make sure the politician doesn't go out of line.

Developed countries don't have a system that works simply because the people are good people. It works because there is a system that makes sure everybody does the right thing, and there are consequences for not doing the right thing if you're caught.

The notion that humans are naturally anarchic that without the camera, speed bumps and punishment, we would all just destroy each other. I do not believe that is correct. That is not ours. It will do errands for those who have the keys. Each cage requires an alibi and this is theirs.

People jaywalk. No traffic light has ever been required to have to spare an entire continent's grieving. But people disobey rules from authorities they did not choose and do not trust. Disobedience of this sort has its own logic, older than any law that called for obedience.

You said politicians do what you allow them to do. Technically correct. But, that does not stop one thing from happening, does it? Except that only holds if someone, somewhere, handed you the key marked "refusal". Most did not even get a chance to see the lock. You are born into a place of one thought: This is the way it is; power belongs to the powerful, just as gravity belongs to the earth. There is no exit that is ever set up for you, in case you are waiting around. It was never going to be wit that got you through. It is about imagination. In most cases imagination is the first to die, before anyone even realizes it is gone.

Therefore, a country's economy is completely destroyed when it is led by corrupt leaders, government, and officials. They have no plans to develop the nation, they only plan to enrich themselves.

Corruption is everywhere and among leaders in underdeveloped countries, we see how this leaders orchestrate poverty and kept the masses in outreach poverty just to keep them on low to manipulate them at will. But the Truth is that the masses still have the power to remove a leader that is not competent either by Force or by re-election. There are some countries that did justice to their leader when the wickedness was much, and trust me they are doin well today. Example of such country is Ghana.

If we look at countries with a low standard of living, there is an almost 100% probability that their situation can be explained by:
- either a "historical factor", for example, this applies well to small, traditional countries where there was no industry and people lived off agriculture to meet their domestic needs
- or by the fact that they are ruled by a totalitarian or corrupt government. I don’t think it’s necessary to give examples here

That's not only happening in Africa, it's happening in almost every continent, especially in third-world countries. There are a lot of countries in Asia where a lot of natural resources are discovered, such as gas, coal, gold, even diamonds, but because the politicians and the government are corrupt, they take everything for themselves instead of using it to make their economies stronger and investing all the money on the country and the people so that they can get out of poverty, inflation rate could go lower, and there could be better basic facilities provided for the people of the country, but unfortunately, none of this is done because of corruption.

In some countries, people even protest against these things and demand that officials resign and allow the younger generation to take over so that the corruption can be eradicated, but in some countries, those in control have grown so powerful that people don't dare saying anything against them because there is no freedom of speech, and all those who start speaking against the government, they are either kidnapped, killed, or simply threatened to stay silent otherwise they will face consequences for their actions, and people then stop speaking against them and they keep doing what they are good at.

You don't have to believe it. The facts and history say it's so. So if you don't believe it, then that's not my problem. Of course, there will always be human being that will do what is right, no matter what, but a majority of humans will do what is right because the law says so. The law has now become a part of their lives; they do it subconsciously, and it's now as if they will do it with or without the law.

Let me give you an example.
200 years ago, it was legal for you to have slaves. You can treat your slave however you want. Flog him, work him, stave him, even rape the slave and beat him. There was no limit. The limit was only what your conscience allows. Of course, there were a few White Americans and Europeans who were against the idea of slavery, but the majority thought it was okay. Fast forward to today, and the majority of the world is against slavery. Why do you think that is? Do you think they just went in touch with their human side? Nah. It was made illegal years ago, and now it has become part of us. If slavery is to be legalized today, 50 years from now, owning a slave will be a normal thing.

In the sense of those investors who knew that corruptions are involve in that certain place, they will push their luck knowing that it will easier for them to do business, as they can always use their money to compensate more, with corruptions there's always a way for those corrupt officials to influence whatever the business owners wants, and the after-effects always be carried by the people, though from what we are seeing those society who already have full awareness of the corruptions from thier country are starting to stand up and push for changes, either in a legal ways like elect new sets of leaders or to demand and replace them with force.

Currently in many countries, things like these are working, and big investors are enjoying this corruption with domestic links and having a good increase in their wealth because no one is having checks and balances, and after investing some bucks, they have a good return through corrupt people who are always ready to go with them.
In the last few years in our country, billions of USD have gone out of the country just because of corruption, and people are facing the worst situation because they do not have enough sources and chances of increasing their earnings, with things getting to the lowest level, but no one cares about this; all are having their own interests for transferring money and their own families out of the country.

Sad to say that there are people who thinks this way, instead of trying to help their country they find themselves leaving it as they see opportunities oveseas and they will bring their family with them, just like what we both mentioned, as there are people who manifest fortunes linking themselves with corrupt officials and they are willing to do everything just to connect themselves and make huge amount of profits.

Most people run away from themselves, including me.
With a little more preparation you make yourself a home, mostly where your heart is. 
In all countries there is money, money who looks for healthy returns,  In the US they look at years, even decades.
in the 3rd world 3 month is mostly the time local investors spend. That means your project needs to be good. 

Your advantage is having less regulations to begin with.

Can you explain how an individual can help his country find himself. Most of the people who leaves there country do that because they have seen that there, are no opportunities left for them at home. This is as a result of bad governance from the government of the day, if we look at most of these third world countries which there citizens leave for abroad, they mostly do that as the last option because they don't have any other options left. Until the government of a state decides to fix their internal problems the issue of travelling abroad will still be a big problem if you ask me.

In world many countries have their own natural resources and have in bulk and these resources worth is in trillion dollars but still these countries suffer poverty and remains at the lower economy countries list. The main reason behind it is corruption because leaders prefer their own interests instead to invest budget on education, health and infrastructure and especially in technology which is used to retrieve these resources but leaders make corrupt polices and steel the people money and use it for personal growth. So these countries suffers poverty instead of having natural resources. Along with corruption foreign investors don't have internet in these countries because they already knows the corrupt system of these countries because they wants to run their business according to law but here every thing and law is money so they don't invest their money in these countries. So to reduce corruption strong institutions like strong implementation of law is required for every field but it's take time and it's a long term project once it succeed then this country get long term progress and remains financial stable.

The reason why they are underdeveloped in the first is because the country is poor but like you said this isn't really the case of a lot of countries, they aren't exactly poor but you could say that their resources are being mismanaged by the government which are the leaders of the country. It is quite shameful that a lot of African countries are still backwards while a lot of western countries are already living in the future, this is not because these countries are incapable of living that way but it's because the leaders have decided to embezzle the funds necessary to make boost the country's economy.

Corrupt government leaders are the main culprit. Not only corruption exists in developing countries, but also in developed ones. It's just that it's more noticeable in developing countries. This cannot be avoided, due to the way the system is designed. The system is rigged in a way, where the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer. Not even Bitcoin has been able to solve all of our problems.

A developing country such as El Salvador adopted Bitcoin, only to fail in the process. People weren't using BTC the same way they used Fiat. That's the reality. With corruption rampant across the world, don't expect the economy to improve in your favor. Not now or another century. Here's hoping for the best.
