Is it really possible to gamble only for fun?

All they have been saying that gambling is for fun is just nothing but fallacy. Everybody is gambling for the money and not for fun but the truth is that no one is ready to admit it. I keep saying it on daily basis that gambling is just a an avenue to try luck to win big and become wealthy or excape from poverty but unfortunately it doesn't come that easy because it's a game of luck. When the intention of becoming wealthy doesn't work, it is then changed to Gambling for fun. Who is happy losing money for a fun game.

Maybe gambling can be entertainment only if we already accept that the money we use is gone the moment we place the bet. But I think not many gamblers can really think like that, especially when the loss starts to hurt.

That's exactly how I see it; for me to be able to enjoy the game to a certain level, I try as much as possible to gamble with an amount I can let go of because I view the amount used as something that is more gone than the chances it has to come back with profit, and one way to last long viewing it that way is not to gamble with big money; even if the losses get to a point where your emotions will be affected, it won't be as high as when you are staking high as if you control the game outcome.

I think that is the main question. If someone truly sees gambling as an entertainment then he/she should be comfortable with  losing the money they spend  just like they  paying for a movie ticket or a game or any other activity. The problem is that many peoples start it as an  entertainment but they start thinking about profits and  chasing losses at this stage gambling becomes more than just fun and there focus transfers from enjoyment to financial results. No doubt everyone hopes to win  but there is a big difference between hoping to win and needing to win. When winning becomes need entertainment usually takes a back seat. If i say about myself i dont gamble i prefer to invest that money may be its a little but in the long run it definitely  gives me benefits rather then give it to a casino .

If the initial intention is to gamble for fun as long as it does not deviate from the goal and the purpose is to have fun it can actually be done.  But sometimes for gamblers, especially those from the middle to lower economic circles their goals will change from the original fun over time because they will always aim for victory as the ultimate goal.

Sometimes it will be very difficult for some gamblers to stick to their original goals in gambling because ambition always arises without us realizing it  especially when our mentality is not ready and forces gambling, especially when most gamblers always make winning a benchmark in gambling success.

Yes we should care about the money we have earned from our hard work, if chasing winnings in gambling makes us have a bad financial history because of chasing winnings, and hoping for luck from the bets we make is not worth it in my opinion.
Gambling only in your spare time and with a modest budget to accompany and entertain yourself from small bets, that's better in my opinion.
I see a lot of people who gamble and chase after luck until they lose all their money and regret it in the end, I hope all gamblers can be like you.

When a gambler treats any money he gamble with as already lost, it enables them set realistic expectations when they gamble, because you’ll be prepared for any outcome that comes afterwards, and it also helps to manage and cope with disappointment, so when the loss eventually comes, it’ll never result to chasing and it’ll be easier to recover from such losses.

It depends on the mentality and behavior of the person whether he accepts gambling as entertainment or not. Suppose when we want to watch a movie, but after watching the movie, we do not get the money back for buying the ticket. That is, we have given the money in exchange for watching the movie. Similarly, when we gamble, we have given money in exchange for the temporary excitement or pleasure that we get. And I may or may not get that money back. When someone gambles with this mentality, he keeps the purpose as entertainment. Aside financial wins, when we pay for a ticket to watch a movie in the cinema, some movies end up making viewers cry, depending on how the protagonist ended up after all the struggle they went through in the story. Humans are completely emotional, when the fun is not there, the pain comes in, when you go to the casino it's hard to see a smiling face.

Gambling is a kind of entertainment that is designed to bring profit or losses. When you engage in gambling you should be prepared for wins or losses. The funny part of gambling is to derive satisfaction even when you lose or win. There are other forms of entertainment that one also spends money on yet doesn't expect any reward. Video games, cinema, movie subscription, etc., are all part of entertainment that will not bring any returns. So it is not strange that some people see gambling as entertainment. I gamble for fun but I am also hopeful that I can win some money from it.

Yes is possible op, you can see some old gamblers in the field till now without retire from gambling, and even though they are going to quit gambling, it will not going to be addicted to gambling or too much of loss to gambling,  if you don't have other business or anything that is keeping you busy it will be difficult for you to gamble for fun because it will be pushing you to add more funds to gamble to win millions than to continue losing what will make you to quit gambling forever completely.

I think the word fun is just a way of making people feel alright which I think doesn't work again , because tell me why we gamble and expect winning and if it doesn't work out we feel bad meanwhile we already told ourselves that it's for fun ,then when we lose ,we began to chase loses by trying everything possible to win back the money we lost,yet we still call it ,for entertainment,I believe everyone should tell their self the trusth ,in as much we gamble for fun everyone still want something at the end ,which is winning so we can meet up our target, instead deceiving ourselves by saying it for fun always.

Many people say that gambling should be entertainment, that is not the same as what you wrote. So many are simply saying things that they are not applying, which is a correct observation about this.

At first maybe it is just for fun. Small bet, no pressure, just trying luck. But once we start winning or losing money, the feeling changes. If we win, we want more. If we lose, we want to recover it. So where is the fun there if our mind is already focused on profit or getting back what we lost?

Why would the loss hurt you if it is money that is part of your expected losses and your budget? If I pay $5 to see a movie, I don't start hurting about the loss of money so that is strange to consider it any different in cases of where gambling is entertainment. What I deposit on the platform is already considered as spent money. When it comes to winning, anything that I have not withdrawn I do not consider real similar to how you have paper profits and losses in trading. Unless you realize an actual trade, both don't mean much and anything can still happen. Many times people have huge unrealized profits, they don't do anything and later find themselves at zero or even loss. So I apply this the same, money on platforms that is won but not withdrawn is more like a currency of some video game. I don't care that much what happens with it even if I apply various strategies such as bankroll management. After all, if I win something I can use that in a smart way and not deposit any of my own money for some time. It is not lost, it is spent.

Yes gambling was meant to be played for fun but some others uphold it the other way of which the version does not still change the actual sense of it.
The fact the others takes it for fun does not also mean that they don't have the expectations of gaining profits as the others who don't prioritize on the entertainment.

The difference is clear that what differentiates them is the ability to know when to stop and only bets what is affordable to loose.

There will always be someone who does things in the wrong way, but I wish more people do it right. So they can have a life which will not be affected due to their gambling, and also their finance will stay intact and their loved ones will be happy as well.

Even if you gamble or try to gamble for fun, you still want to win money in the back of your mind. We are just human, and it's part of being human to want something that we need, and that is money.
The thought of winning money always crosses my mind. I don't think there's something wrong with that. What is wrong is prioritizing it to the point that it's your only intention to gamble. If that's the case, you will end up addicted to gambling.

Isn't winning what makes gambling fun?  We wager, we bet, because winning triggers happiness.  Now, who among the gamblers does not wish to win during their gambling session? In fact, I often gamble for winnings.  If winning = fun, then I can say I am gambling for fun.

So,  questions, in a normal day, why are you gambling? What do you expect when you are gambling?  Which one makes you happy?  The winnings or the animation and music of the game?
