The result and performance of theis current FIFA world cup should end the debate and comparison of messi with any other player. Congratulations to the GOAT on securing the Argentine side with a victory and a bargged 3 point

And one more thing. Do you know what that is? If Messi can help the Argentine team to win the world cup back to back then the noise and argument won't have any voice. Only two countries have that record for now and those are Italy and Brazil. So that is another record that will be on top of his mind.

But no doubt for me Messi is the GOAT. He has shown a performance that is outstanding and records to break. From goals to assists, to trophies of different levels. He is certainly one of the best that the world has produced in football.

We dont really know what will be the outcome of this world cup tournament and I don't really see the possiblity of Messi helping his team to win the world cup again. This should be the last world cup competition for both Messi and Ronaldo and this will be one of the sweetest world cup tournament in history and we have already started seeing how competitive it's gonna be.

Lionel Messi  (The GOAT) has also again shows that he still has it and should never be compared to any player in the world because there has never been and will never be any player on earth that will or will ever be better than Lionel Messi, there is also no player on earth that holds individual award than Lionel Messi and there will never be.

Without a doubt I say that Messi is the goat, but we don't need to overhype him, and even to the point of saying that he can't be compared to other players and there will never be another like him, that's just too much. let's just use logic that even though his performance is very good, but still that football history has shown that every generation always produces extraordinary players, so I think that players like messi, and even ronaldo will exist in every generation.

The 6 times appearance will be met by others,,, and so will his 16 goals, do not worry. But you have to see outside the stats. He wins games for his team singlehanded, and Argentina qualified in big part for his contribution, and won last WC for his solo efforts.

Ronaldo is also a one man team but he cannot lift his team in the same way.

It’s really funny how it always seems like the easiest thing to do, how they easily lay it out there, having to analyze every pass, every positioning, every runs and more, make it look so easy and how they would have done it but, they had a whole career to present themselves to be anything but special and never did. They forget the team work that is needed for any team to go through, they never see all of that because they are now pundits and can do some damage off the pitch, I really never take them seriously.

I mean if you’re going to analyse, do your job right. I watched Rooney’s analysis of Portugal’s match against Dr Congo, and so far his analysis is the only one I have seen that’s been accurate. Which is strange, considering his relationship with Ronaldo is not exactly great.

Well, I quite agree with you, though I don't think it would have even made any sense if players who retire do that with their number, football to me is majorly for sports, fun and entertainment and not something to be taken that serious, even a president of a country is replaced when he or she passes on, how much more can't a number be replaced with another player when the player who used to known with that number retires?

Well, players do that in American football and the NBA. For some reason, they believe it’s a huge honor to have your jersey retired.

To have the best stats you need to be an excellent player but a lot of things must align as well in your journey to make that happen, it is not only about being the best player.

I must say I completely agree with you because for players like Ronaldo and Messi they were very lucky that they had a very good playing career that was not ridden with a lot of injuries, and then they played in teams that complimented their pattern of play with good coaches which must have contributed to the statistics that they both have. Many other players did not have that opportunity because their careers were injury ridden and that dropped their fitness level and some of them did not have team that were good enough to compliment their pattern of playing or even lucky to have good coaches.

Thank you, you understand that this is not as as simple as many people make it out to be. If you have excellent talent and play but if you end up unlucky then it is not going to work. It is even more clear in cases of extreme injuries which can completely destroy a career, so someone who might have become better than the current greatest of all time based on skill and his play simply does not end up becoming that because of such an event. In their case it is a combination of both things, but if they had not been as lucky as they were it would have never materialized into this level.

The idolizing and fanaticism of people with weak minds is what leads to false conclusion, superficial analysis of literally every topic and overall stupid statements.

He has taken Argentina to 5 copa America finals and two world cup finals. These are not normal things.

I can't believe you'll use just this single game to say that. And its against who, Algeria of all teams to come to this conclusion. That doesn't make sense to me. Now lemme give you a run down of their stats:

Argentina:
Rankings: 1st
World cup appearance:89
World cup won: 3

Algeria:
Rankings: 28th
World cup appearance: 5
World cup won: 0

Now, do you see the difference. Algeria is not a team one will use to gauge the credibility of Messi. If he had underperformed, that would have been really disappointing. Although he hit some mile stones, and made some records in that game. But that game alone won't make me say "That's why he is the GOAT". If you have said something like, "He is the goat because of the numerous records he broke and mile stones he reached in that game", then that would have been a perfect GOAT statement.

You said just Algeria right, I don’t want to go into comparing the two teams both Portugal and Argentina played against, but since you have underrated Algeria and called them small team, they think we have to also compare Algeria to Dr Congo that Portugal played against. They are also a team of similar class to Algeria right? But why didn’t Ronaldo scored three goals in the match? I know it’s a game of luck and it depends on how the game play, but we are working with stats right now, that’s why I game him all that praise but you said I can’t use only one match to make decision, let’s wait and see how the next matches will be for both Portugal and Argentina.

In football, they are not normal things. Normal in football is something that happens often, or many players have done.
How many players in the history of football have played in 5 continental finals while being the main man for his team in all 5 tournaments, led his team to 2 World Cup finals while being the main man too and also won two World Cup Golden Balls? That is not normal.
Pele won three World Cups in his career, the only player to do so; that is not normal. 
There is context to things. Don't take it out of context.

Zidane winning 3 Champions League titles in a row with Madrid is not normal. Even Luis Enrique winning it back-to-back with PSG is not normal. "Normal" in this context would be if it happens frequently.
