I agree with you that the contribution of both of them is huge in the world of football. Ronaldo and Messi are the best players in the world in their respective fields. However, if we compare Messi's overall style of play and his achievements, I don't see any player in the world who can be compared to him right now . Messi has now reached such a high that even Ronaldo has no place to compare him to. Messi is above everything. The whole world has seen that he is moving forward with his strength and intelligence, leaving his age behind. This reflects a wise assessment. Messi is a player with tremendous natural talent. His role in leading Argentina has been proven since the end of the Maradona era. Only Messi was able to rally the team to fight together, and at the age mentioned, Argentina finally lifted the World Cup trophy.

At the club level, Messi stands out for his achievements within a team. It is only with Barcelona that he has made a significant contribution to the club’s success in winning various trophies. Individually, Messi is outstanding and has earned numerous personal accolades. However, when playing for clubs other than Barcelona, Messi has not truly succeeded in winning trophies. No, it's not overhyped. 38 years old, scored hatrick, and he's also on the way to be one of player with most of goals in WC.  He's still productive despite his age. I don't think you quite understand what overhyped means. If something is overhyped that does not mean that it is bad without the hype. Of course, its possible for Argentina to win the World Cup, as far as Messi is still playing and for me, I think he is the GOAT, also he is still playing more better each time he is in the pitch. Yes I agree with you. The person who thinks that Ronaldo plays better and Messi plays worse than Ronaldo or the person who thinks that Messi plays better than Ronaldo. They may be overstating these things or belittling one another. We must always accept one thing that Ronaldo and Messi are both very good players, the person who denies this is probably a big mistake. To have the best stats you need to be an excellent player but a lot of things must align as well in your journey to make that happen, it is not only about being the best player.

I must say I completely agree with you because for players like Ronaldo and Messi they were very lucky that they had a very good playing career that was not ridden with a lot of injuries, and then they played in teams that complimented their pattern of play with good coaches which must have contributed to the statistics that they both have. Many other players did not have that opportunity because their careers were injury ridden and that dropped their fitness level and some of them did not have team that were good enough to compliment their pattern of playing or even lucky to have good coaches.

Regardless of the team they played against, he has proven himself once again to be the greatest footballer of all time. This is not about hype, it is about reality, his performance at this age is superb and he scored three goals in one single match, I don't like joining the conversation of who is better between him and Ronaldo, because I know that both of them have talent and they have individual brilliance even though they play in different position, but with this performance against Algeria, I believed that Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, and I will not be surprised if he lead Argentina to another world cup quarterfinal or semifinal again this year.

We should be expecting more of good performance from Messi, and also from Ronaldo because I will expect an impressive performance from Ronaldo in their next match because they need to win their next match to qualify to the knockout stage of this tournament.

In my view, I think that debate ended during the last world cup in Qatar with Lionel Messi lifting the most coveted trophy in world football.

I'm not surprised about Messi's performance at with his current age, it shows how talented the Argentine super star is irrespective of his age, he has also proven that age can not be a barrier to his quest to help his country secure another world cup title and just maybe we might end at seeing a repeat of the last world cup finals between the French and the Argentines.

Both Ronaldo and Messi are probably at the same level as far as world football is concerned, I believe they are the two most valuable players left from the old generation and after they have left the stage there may not be any like them, both players are very unique in their own ways. Ronaldo is a goal machine whereas Lionel Messi is think tank, Messi has the ability to dictate a match and influence the outcome thereabouts, and Ronaldo can score the most incredible goal when you least expect, I don't think this comparison is necessary at this moment because the World Cup just started and it would be unfair to judge the Portuguese side with their first game because Lionel Messi's Argentina also experienced a similar fate in the last World Cup but still came out triumphantly against all odds.

Messi is not undesputed simply because of that one game; he is undesputed because of what he has done and what he continues to do. That game is just a show of why he is the greatest. Even if he doesn't have a good tournament, it would do nothing to his GOAT status. He is the only player to be awarded the best player of the World Cup in two different tournaments.
Whenever someone says "Messi is better than Ronaldo", people always interpret it to mean "Ronaldo is not good", but that is ot true. Ronaldo, at his peak, was an exceptional player, but he was just not at the level of Messi.

I'm very used to the fans' chatter, after all Messi and Ronaldo are eternal rivals even now in the world cup scene, it is definitely a part of the conversation in comparing them and seeing who is the best, and whether you like it or not you will hear, read and see it in any media, and that you have to understand, friend.

Yeah, they are both great players, I will not dispute that fact at all..  They have both had their moments, broken records at some point, and made history in their own ways..
But regardless of all the comparisons, if I am to pick one of them, I will still go with Messi every time.. That is just my preference though..
