It is not that it cannot be done, but I believe governments in most countries don't pay much attention to these things,
That is true, in my country were our government don't really care much about this like this and most times if you are that type that don't usually verify things before running into it, most times you easily fall victim of scam.

The problem is that even governments that regulate gambling advertising do so only to a limited extent. They do so for influencers within the country and regulated bookmakers. But no one is monitoring whether there are foreign influencers on certain platforms advertising other bookmakers, where people end up placing bets even though, in theory, they are not allowed to.

Any advertising is always a little deceptive. We all know that advertising is always, at the very least, exaggerated. When social media influencers urge users to click links to casinos and play there, they emphasize winnings. But we understand that the number of wins and losses will be roughly equal. And because the games have an asymmetry between wins and losses, in the long run, people will lose their money. Indirectly, of course, this will provoke waves of negativity toward the influencers, as if they were the ones spinning the roulette wheel.

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?

I also often see on social media how influencers easily promote gambling, promising deposit bonuses and watching them play, which can lead viewers to believe gambling is easy.
The government should intervene to limit this ads, as children are now accessing social media, and seeing such advertisements can be dangerous for them.

However, as for those who lose £80,000, it's their fault, their inability to think clearly leads to significant losses, he's greedy.

Thats true. Ads for gambling are typically short and will likely only show how to sign up and some clips about winning only. In short only did for traffic and potential signup. Being regulated is somehow broad cause some major network or TV stations aired some ads as long as they pay and even without criticizing the way on how it shown.

For me gambling ads always should have a segment about warning at the end of their clip or at least shown that losing money is also possible so users might think before signing up.

My problem over this is not ads it's probably of not applying sense of details seeking through knowledge on what he engaged on, besides what comes to his mind while using such a homongus amount in staking, actually there is some slack in regulating ads but gambler with knowledge should be able to know if the site is well register and not scam or the issue is error of not accessing the real information and betting wrongly as resulted to the lost. Gambling is risky and not been conscious of it and jumping into it will always keep victim crying whenever they encounter losses especially those who uses what they can't afford to losed.

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?

There should be global regulations on this issue, but the reality is that this is nearly impossible. It’s pointless to have regulations on gambling and advertising in one country if the residents of that country can see advertisements broadcast over the internet from other countries.

The news story that prompted this thread reads:

Quote
Local public health experts estimate about 20,000 people in Derbyshire could benefit from targeted support for gambling addiction, and are in the process of developing a new tailored strategy to address the issue.

Roughly the same amount of children between the ages of 11 and 17 years are also thought to be at risk of problem gambling, according to the Young Person's Gambling Survey.

Having so many young people—including children—at risk of developing a problem at such a young age is a major problem.

All I know is registered services gets the grants to adverts, the only restriction is the age which must be 18+, it's your own choice to make as an adult, some adverts will warn you out of the box that gambling can make you lose money so make sure that you are responsible enough to protect your funds and risk only what you can afford to lose.

This is all you are going to get, many people have billions through Ponzi schemes and the government is very well aware of it, yet they failed to hunt those criminals down, because they believe that people should be able to say no to Ponzi themselves and if they joined they already understand what may happen to their money.

This is laughable. Because you are now blaming casino for doing advertisement. All because a guy lacks self control. That is his headche. If he can do that, am pretty sure he is someone that can fall for any type of scams. SELF CONTROL. It is very important. Can't he just look and ignore. Is that so hard to do?

Well, i won't still dismiss the fact that they need regulations for such casinos. But many people believe more of influencers than just the main advert. If an influencer advertiser for a company, there are more likey people to buy into that product or service. At the end of the day, it still boils down to self control.

Where I live there has been enforced the rule of no gambling at all since 2019 and since then not a single ad on TV or any major event, no gambling ads or the TV owner goes strictly to jail. Now don't get me wrong my country where I live is not that good and they done it to favor the brother of the Prime Minister as the only online casino and sport betting platform allowed plus only 3 major physical casinos which are somewhat owned by the state, the state has some stakes in them as the only way to let them operate. To be back on the topic though we are very clear here as no ads, no social influences, no TV or they face severe penalties up to a couple of years in jail if the offense is repeated. I also agree that people like that guy who run 80.000 pounds in debt he is the sole responsible for his own action despite ads or whatever may have given him a push, in the end he is the sole responsible for his actions and consequences.

I like the way your country handle gambling even though the system it is self is not perfect removing those from TV and major event can really reduce the constant temptation and influence on people.
However still believe personal responsibility matters the most might encourage people or make gambling look attractive but they don’t force anyone to keep betting or sink into huge debt in the end that guy who ended up $2000 in debt has to take responsibility for the choices he made and the consequences that came with them.

Regulators in many countries should be more vigilant about monitoring these influencers, because while they certainly make a lot of money, if they advertise too aggressively, there's a chance many young people will think they can win just like them, easily and simply. But that won't happen. They'll likely quit their jobs and start gambling, losing all their savings, and then start borrowing money, and so on. In my opinion, influencer advertising should be regulated to prevent it from getting out of control.

The activities of social media influencers is really affecting the way that people gamble, and I feel regulating the activities of those influencers is not a wrong idea. In many many occasions the social media influencers post bets, and predictions online, people also follow them, and gamble through their own link. Because of their massive followers, a lot of gamblers join them online, and still make massive losses, and honestly this has helped to increase the rate of people gambling gambling online. While we suggest regulation on gambling ads sponsored by social media influencers, gamblers who follow these influencers should be wise enough to know that their is no guarantee to win your bets even when you follow influencers, and therefore remain well guided.

It's important to understand that these advertisers are primarily interested in profit, and they make a very good profit. They certainly don't want to think about players who may become or become addicted. They believe that each player makes their own bets and is responsible, and this may be true, but advertising can be the first step that pushes players to take action. It all depends on how it's designed and how it engages the player's psyche, awakening their passion and risk-taking in players, including beginners.

No one is blaming the casino; the point here is different. Advertising often only mentions success and money. No one mentions losses and debts because the advertising won't sell. As for influencers, their goal is to get more clicks on their advertising link, since in addition to the main advertising fee, they also receive royalties for referrals, so it's in their interests to praise the service.

Maybe for legitimate TV ads, they pass through the right process first before they are shown, but when it comes to vloggers and social media influencers, I do not think there is enough regulation there.

In my country, you can see gambling ads on TV at any time of the day, on many TV channels... It's the same on the radio. Kids watch it, kids hear it: sounds of coins & big wins, huge jackpots, along with "free money & free spins", just register... Of course, at the end, you hear the voice that says gambling is illegal for minors, but who cares about it? My kids are watching YouTube videos... too many times I saw a gambling ad in the middle of some program for kids, or some random Minecraft/Roblox streamer...

So yes, I think that gambling advertising should be more regulated... There should be the right place for that, and in some cases, the right time.

When a gambling advertisement appears on social media, experienced people can easily ignore it, while inexperienced people are worried about it as a scam. New gamblers are losing money by clicking on the link or entering a scam site and later losing all their assets. While experienced people do not trust influencers, new ones believe what they are being told and deposit and lose money. The number of users on these platforms is definitely increasing due to advertisement on social media, but there are many ordinary people who are also going bankrupt. In my opinion, more control should be brought to the issue of advertising on social media so that the common people do not suffer major losses.

In my country it's not regulated and, if you must gamble through their promotion it's left for the said person to do their research before signing up to the gambling site and to crown it all, you need to know what you are signing up for so that you wouldn't be that redirected to phishing site where the person get hacked. I believe there are people who save their card details on their browser to enable them make quick funding to their gambling account.
Nowadays, the rate and manner at which people are getting lured through gambling ads on social media is becoming alarming and the worst is that people who do not know how those things work would think that gambling winning is that very easy or common.

Here in our country, there are so many influencers promoting casinos that are illegal online casinos but they say they are legal, but when you look or check with our government's regulatory agency, you won't see the name of the casino they are promoting.

But you would be surprised even despite that, it is still rampant as if there is a big politician protecting the influencers that we have here in our country,
which is also not good.
What you must know is to first understand if your country highly frown gambling and if they does then you wouldn't see people promoting about gambling on their social media profile, and I know most people would say that is allowed for people to promote those ads on their media.
Any country that bans gambling do not also allows those ads to be displayed on their social media so that someone wouldn't be that gotten attracted to gambling because they knows the consequences of gambling.

I have heard from some members of this forum how these influencers promote gambling even when it is banned in their country. The problem here is that the government has failed to implement its laws. Such individuals who violate the laws of the land should be identified and prosecuted. Another issue is corrupt government officials. The officials who are assigned to investigate these violations will end up collecting kickbacks from these influencers.

Gambling advertising does need to be limited because basically we have an age limit to access it, because if it is not limited it could be the wrong target market, what if underage children access it? or at least when they are small they are motivated to want to gamble, and don't forget that not a few illegal casinos operate a lot and are used by children to play there, which relatively illegal casinos have no restrictions on accessing them, this is a danger for children.

I think what can be regulated here is the content of the advertisements, not who it will reach because all of us can access social media and view any channel we want to see. So there is what we call responsible gambling, and there is also what we call responsible advertising, that is the very point of the topic I believe.

I just want to share this news and ask for your opinion because I do not really see gambling advertisements being regulated well in our country.

Maybe for legitimate TV ads, they pass through the right process first before they are shown, but when it comes to vloggers and social media influencers, I do not think there is enough regulation there.
What do you mean by regulating  gambling  advert? Some one has a business  and he's  trying  to market  it and youre suggesting  it should  be regulated!! Those platforms  are rated 18+ and it's boldy  written  on the advert one his matured enough  to know what that should  do, while you think it should be regulated, I also wish for more gambling  platform  advertismet  as I'm exploring  each an every  one of th to see the best In booking  option. I don't even get what enough  regulations  you want, the advert  doesn't ask you to play it just show you opportunity  and if you're not interested  you can look away it's not that deep. There are a lot of people  who watch  those advert  and have zero interest  for betting  and it never changed  them.
