It is not that it cannot be done, but I believe governments in most countries don't pay much attention to these things,
That is true, in my country were our government don't really care much about this like this and most times if you are that type that don't usually verify things before running into it, most times you easily fall victim of scam.

The problem is that even governments that regulate gambling advertising do so only to a limited extent. They do so for influencers within the country and regulated bookmakers. But no one is monitoring whether there are foreign influencers on certain platforms advertising other bookmakers, where people end up placing bets even though, in theory, they are not allowed to.

Any advertising is always a little deceptive. We all know that advertising is always, at the very least, exaggerated. When social media influencers urge users to click links to casinos and play there, they emphasize winnings. But we understand that the number of wins and losses will be roughly equal. And because the games have an asymmetry between wins and losses, in the long run, people will lose their money. Indirectly, of course, this will provoke waves of negativity toward the influencers, as if they were the ones spinning the roulette wheel.

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?

I also often see on social media how influencers easily promote gambling, promising deposit bonuses and watching them play, which can lead viewers to believe gambling is easy.
The government should intervene to limit this ads, as children are now accessing social media, and seeing such advertisements can be dangerous for them.

However, as for those who lose £80,000, it's their fault, their inability to think clearly leads to significant losses, he's greedy.

Thats true. Ads for gambling are typically short and will likely only show how to sign up and some clips about winning only. In short only did for traffic and potential signup. Being regulated is somehow broad cause some major network or TV stations aired some ads as long as they pay and even without criticizing the way on how it shown.

For me gambling ads always should have a segment about warning at the end of their clip or at least shown that losing money is also possible so users might think before signing up.

My problem over this is not ads it's probably of not applying sense of details seeking through knowledge on what he engaged on, besides what comes to his mind while using such a homongus amount in staking, actually there is some slack in regulating ads but gambler with knowledge should be able to know if the site is well register and not scam or the issue is error of not accessing the real information and betting wrongly as resulted to the lost. Gambling is risky and not been conscious of it and jumping into it will always keep victim crying whenever they encounter losses especially those who uses what they can't afford to losed.

So my question is, can social media influencers really not be regulated, or maybe in some countries they are already regulated and it is just not properly enforced in ours?

There should be global regulations on this issue, but the reality is that this is nearly impossible. It’s pointless to have regulations on gambling and advertising in one country if the residents of that country can see advertisements broadcast over the internet from other countries.

The news story that prompted this thread reads:

Quote
Local public health experts estimate about 20,000 people in Derbyshire could benefit from targeted support for gambling addiction, and are in the process of developing a new tailored strategy to address the issue.

Roughly the same amount of children between the ages of 11 and 17 years are also thought to be at risk of problem gambling, according to the Young Person's Gambling Survey.

Having so many young people—including children—at risk of developing a problem at such a young age is a major problem.

All I know is registered services gets the grants to adverts, the only restriction is the age which must be 18+, it's your own choice to make as an adult, some adverts will warn you out of the box that gambling can make you lose money so make sure that you are responsible enough to protect your funds and risk only what you can afford to lose.

This is all you are going to get, many people have billions through Ponzi schemes and the government is very well aware of it, yet they failed to hunt those criminals down, because they believe that people should be able to say no to Ponzi themselves and if they joined they already understand what may happen to their money.

This is laughable. Because you are now blaming casino for doing advertisement. All because a guy lacks self control. That is his headche. If he can do that, am pretty sure he is someone that can fall for any type of scams. SELF CONTROL. It is very important. Can't he just look and ignore. Is that so hard to do?

Well, i won't still dismiss the fact that they need regulations for such casinos. But many people believe more of influencers than just the main advert. If an influencer advertiser for a company, there are more likey people to buy into that product or service. At the end of the day, it still boils down to self control.

Where I live there has been enforced the rule of no gambling at all since 2019 and since then not a single ad on TV or any major event, no gambling ads or the TV owner goes strictly to jail. Now don't get me wrong my country where I live is not that good and they done it to favor the brother of the Prime Minister as the only online casino and sport betting platform allowed plus only 3 major physical casinos which are somewhat owned by the state, the state has some stakes in them as the only way to let them operate. To be back on the topic though we are very clear here as no ads, no social influences, no TV or they face severe penalties up to a couple of years in jail if the offense is repeated. I also agree that people like that guy who run 80.000 pounds in debt he is the sole responsible for his own action despite ads or whatever may have given him a push, in the end he is the sole responsible for his actions and consequences.

I like the way your country handle gambling even though the system it is self is not perfect removing those from TV and major event can really reduce the constant temptation and influence on people.
However still believe personal responsibility matters the most might encourage people or make gambling look attractive but they don’t force anyone to keep betting or sink into huge debt in the end that guy who ended up $2000 in debt has to take responsibility for the choices he made and the consequences that came with them.

Regulators in many countries should be more vigilant about monitoring these influencers, because while they certainly make a lot of money, if they advertise too aggressively, there's a chance many young people will think they can win just like them, easily and simply. But that won't happen. They'll likely quit their jobs and start gambling, losing all their savings, and then start borrowing money, and so on. In my opinion, influencer advertising should be regulated to prevent it from getting out of control.
