It's in situations like this that I often can't decide which of these two boxers to bet on... They both have excellent chances to win! 🙋

On the one hand, Devin Haney has a lot of experience fighting elite fighters. He's incredibly technical, very durable, and fast.

On the other hand, Keyshawn Davis is pretty good too! He has incredible knockout power. Against such a powerful punch, even Haney's experience and excellent technique might not save him. At the same time, Keyshawn Davis is somewhat of a "hothouse plant." He hasn't had many fights with truly strong opponents. And this, in my opinion, is his weak point.

Overall, there's plenty to think about... I'm still not sure which boxer to bet on if this fight does happen.🤷

Who has a good knockout rate of 66%, so that alone might say that if he ever landed a good shot at that china chin of Haney, it could be lights out. Or he has a devastating body shots as well, so Haney be prepared to be hit in his kidneys.

I think I'll base my final betting decision on the odds set by the bookmakers (assuming, of course, that the fight actually takes place). Ultimately, it doesn't matter which boxer is stronger. What matters is a high probability of winning a large sum of money. I'm taking a purely pragmatic approach here. 🙋

The odds for Davis to win will probably be higher. Yes, of course, he's a less experienced fighter. But twelve rounds is twelve rounds... Anything can happen in that long a time. In particular, Davis could very well win the fight by knockout. Haney only needs one mistake, and that's it, he'll lose.

Therefore, if the odds for Davis to win are truly high, I'll probably take a risk and bet on him to win. As the saying goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained!💁

It is all about chances, and honestly, I do not see a big possibility that Haney will make a serious mistake.

Why? Because he is not an overly aggressive boxer. He is more technical and usually wins by scoring effectively against his opponent. So I think this fight will most likely go the full 12 rounds. Both boxers may finish without much damage, and Haney could win by decision.

Speaking of the odds, I still cannot find them even after searching on Google. But people are saying that Haney will be a heavy favorite. So my guess is that they may offer high odds for the younger boxer. If the odds reach around 5.00, would you be tempted to take it?

We should not underestimate his opponent. The young guy is 15-0 and 10 of his wins are by KO, so he clearly has power.

But the question is, does he have the speed and ring IQ to beat Haney?

That's a good question. This is a 12-round fight, and ring IQ plays a big role here, not just power, which is why Haney will be the heavy favorite. Haney fought and learned how heavy punchers think and move, so it's a giant task for Keyshawn Davis to counter Haney's ring IQ and impose his power.
I'm not saying that it's going to be an easy fight for Haney, but this is the kind of opponent that Haney wants to play around in the ring. Haney is a master of lateral movements, and his movements will break Keyshawn Davis' power.

Most of us think Haney is unbeatable, especially against a boxer who is still relatively unknown to me despite having an undefeated record.

Still, I would love to be surprised and see Haney lose so a new talent can rise.

Haney already escaped a possible defeat after protesting the result, and that showed us that he is not invincible. We cannot deny that Haney is good and very smart inside the ring. But for bettors who want a bigger return and are hoping that Haney makes a serious mistake, this could be the time to back Keyshawn Davis without hesitation.  Smiley

If the odds reach around 5.00, would you be tempted to take it?

If you will ask me, I'll be tempted.

They are still in negotiation, so it's not surprising. We might see odds for their fight popping up on the 27th or the day after(or when they officially announce the fight). If I remember correctly, the 27th is the purse bid for their fight, so they need to finalise their negotiations before that.

So my guess is that they may offer high odds for the younger boxer. If the odds reach around 5.00, would you be tempted to take it?
It will be higher than Devin Haney, but it wouldn't be "5.00"(that's just too much). Also, they are both the same age, so there's no "younger boxer".

Perhaps he was referring to the experience, as Haney had faces toughest opponent in his career. In any case, this fight might be in jeopardy,

Quote
Rumors claiming Keyshawn Davis rejected a guaranteed $3 million to fight Devin Haney have shifted attention from the negotiations to his market value. If the figure is accurate, a promoter may need to bid around $12 million to meet Davis’ reported demand under the WBO’s purse split. If the rumor proves accurate, the financial math becomes difficult to ignore. Under the WBO’s 75-25 purse split, Davis would need a winning bid of roughly $12 million just to receive a $3 million payday. A higher bid would increase his earnings, but it would also require a promoter to invest enormous money in a fight that still carries commercial uncertainty.

https://www.boxingnews24.com/2026/07/the-12-million-math-problem-behind-devin-haney-vs-keyshawn-davis/

So we don't know if there will be bid around that number so that it will satisfy Davis of more than $3 million to fight Haney.

Let's wait and see, they have been given 72 hours extension to sit down and talk about this potential fight.

That could be a bit high. I think around 3.00 would be more realistic.

There are no official odds yet anyway, so for now we can only speculate until the fight is confirmed.

But if Davis is around 3.00, would that be attractive enough for you, or would you rather just take Haney to win straight up?
Just curious....  Undecided

Didyou forget when Keyshawn WBO lightweight title got stripped due to the his outweigth last year? It's was an example one of his indiscipline as a boxer. So being a silver medal at Olympic didn't guarantee him to always discipline as a boxer. He's even admitted it by himself.

Some update of the proposed fight:

Top Rank Promotion has won the purse bid with a winning bid of $8.55 million so this means that we have a fight. Based on the report that this will be staged on October 3 of this year, that might change as that date is a Friday and usually they set fights of this magnitude on a Saturday.

With this development, Devin Haney is set to receive $6.4 million while $2.137 million for Davis. I don't know if Haney will be happy with what he will receive because if the plan fight with Shakur pushes through, he might get more than than amount.

Shakur recently signed with Zuffa Boxing and Haney signed a deal with DAZN. They are on different streaming platforms and that could complicate negotiations between them. Haney has also been inactive since last year. He can’t wait around too long for a fight with Shakur to be negotiated. Davis is an inexperienced fighter and Haney will still be paid very well because DAZN guarantees him a minimum purse, so I think he will accept this fight as preparation for Shakur or another big name.

Didyou forget when Keyshawn WBO lightweight title got stripped due to the his outweigth last year? It's was an example one of his indiscipline as a boxer. So being a silver medal at Olympic didn't guarantee him to always discipline as a boxer. He's even admitted it by himself.

Not to mention that Keyshawn's no contest, which was originally a win, was due to a positive test on marijuana. He got suspended for the same.

Apart from his failure to make weight last year, he also missed weight again, at least in the first attempt, in his rematch against Albright a couple of months ago.

Anyway, he's certainly the underdog when the odds are released. Haney has been fighting against big names in the sport. Keyshawn lacks experience. But he's been the busier fighter, and he's got everything to win against Devin. This is going to be his break. This is his time to shine, and I think Devin isn't necessarily a hard match for a rising star like him.

Watch his highlights against Jamaine Ortiz. You can see how aggressive he is, but also how careless he can be when he attacks. That’s why I think if he can’t knock out Devin Haney, he will probably lose the fight. Haney is too disciplined and too good at controlling distance, so being aggressive alone may not be enough.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m not that impressed with the way Keyshawn Davis fights. He is talented, no doubt, but for now I don’t think he is anywhere near Haney’s level.

No offense to his die-hard fans, that’s just how I see the matchup.  Cheesy

For sure, he is not satisfied with this amount, as I speculate that he could be receiving more than that in his previous fight specially against Ryan Garcia. Nevertheless, if he wanted to have a good challenging fight then Davis might be the best for him right now.

And if everything went as plan, then he can go and fight Shakur next and he could demand as high as $10 million on that fight or even higher and make himself the A-side. So it still base on Haney's decision as this is a dangerous fight for him.

Not yet, I think, until Keyshawn formally accepts the fight.
Keyshawn was given a 48hr window to confirm in writing his willingness to move forward with this fight. Initial report that his camp was seeking a payout closer to $3m. So, they were supposed to be looking at a $12m purse bid from the promoter, following the 75-25 split. There might be a bit of a chance Keyshawn withdraws from this fight.

Reports say Haney doesn't have any problem with their portion of the split, and it looks like they already completed the agreement on their end. So, the question of who's happy with their portion should be pointed towards Keyshawn, because they have not made any confirmation yet as of this moment.
A Shakur fight means a way better payout, but this one right here is a great opportunity to prepare for that fight.

So everything is in the the side of Keyshawn whether to accept this fight or not? Money is good, it's almost close to what he wanted at $3 million? So this is the best case scenario for him and accept the fight.

First, to showcase if he is the new face of this division. And he can do it in a bigger stage as this as he will be fighting on the best of the generation in Haney. Although others will question his chin not his heart. But for sure, he also have something to proved by facing a supposedly good puncher and him overcoming that obtacles.

Here’s a brief prediction:
There are two likely outcomes for the fight:
A victory for Devin Haney by decision-he has the experience, very powerful jabs, and the ability to keep his opponent at a distance.
Or
As an alternative scenario, Keishon Davis could win by TKO sometime in the early to middle rounds, and probably not late in the fight, since he doesn’t have much experience in 12-round bouts, but he does possess tremendous speed, agility, and power.

Unfortunately, the fight is not going to happen; this would have been a good opportunity for Davis to steal the title and an opportunity to make a name for himself if he beat Haney and to earn a big purse, possibly the biggest in his career.
This is a developing story; I'm sure Davis will come out with an official statement to clarify his action.

Quote
The Ring’s Mike Coppinger confirmed Friday that Davis’ team informed the WBO that he will not move forward with the 12-round, 147-pound championship clash the sanctioning body ordered June 30, when it named Davis the mandatory challenger for Haney’s belt. Davis’ decision denied fans one of the most intriguing fights that can be made in boxing.

Keyshawn Davis has turned down what would’ve been a career-high seven-figure purse for a shot at Devin Haney’s WBO welterweight title.

The latest report states that Keyshawn Davis has withdrawn to this fight as he is asking $5 million. I don't know if he deserves what he is asking but for me he hasn't prove anything yet to ask for that kind of amount. The best he could do is fight Haney and beat him then surely his stocks will go up. With this kind of behavior, chances are that promoters will be hesitant to promote him because of his asking price where he is not a champion yet. If he totally withdraws, the question now is if he could get $2 million in his next fight given that his opponent is unknown.
