As an investor it's advisable to keep emergency funds to ensure that your Bitcoin asset management is done to the utmost, however there could be circumstances that emergency funds won't or might not be enough to handle the matter at hand whether a mistake or totally unforseen and uncontrollable happening. A very debilitating situation that the thinking of selling Bitcoin holding is already part of the options.
Under such conditions what will you do between selling your Bitcoin, borrowing money and selling other belongings etc.
I don't think it's unusual to face such a situation, even many such investors have been accumulating Bitcoin regularly for many years but have not faced any emergency situation yet. I think if I reach such an emergency situation in the future and cannot be backed up with emergency funds, I will sell part of my Bitcoin holdings instead of taking out a loan to deal with the situation.
I will give more priority to solving real-life problems because I will be able to recoup the losses when such problems do not arise in the future. It would be fair for any investor to sell Bitcoins while giving more importance to solving the current problem.
Not all investors have the same financial capacity. Some may have excess funds available and they can solve the problem without withdrawing their Bitcoin holdings if they wish. But I personally think it is fair for some poor investors to withdraw part of their holdings, but I do not support going into debt for it.
Selling is not weakness. Selling is but recognition. That what you have been saving up, you are believing, which you believe is capital was also capital. It was also always real, as well.
A debt in a crisis is no simple matter of money. You are tackling a second problem on top of the problem you had. People seriously underestimate the effect all that has on the brain in the coming months. Just like it makes all other decisions seem less important.
What @Obulis talking is something about identity. For Bitcoin investors, particularly those with long-term holdings, the psychological connection to the Bitcoin stack is indescribable. To sell, even for a good reason, even a real reason, is like something. More like grief.
The one who sells on purpose, the one who understands the reasons and tells himself, then he grows again quicker. They were not running from the decision.
