Qarabağ played to a scoreless draw against CSKA Sofia. I expected Qarabağ to win this match, as they were the favorites against their opponent. Qarabağ’s performance in the Champions League over the past few seasons was commendable, and they will be competing in the Europa League this season. Qarabağ faces a bit of a challenge on the road, but I think they’ll be the ones to advance to the next round.
It was expected that it will be a hard game between these two teams especially because Cska is a team that plays good defence but still was expecting 1-0 for Qarabaq and in the end that didnt happen. There was lots of shots on both goals but goalkeepers were really good in this match and Cska even had a good chance to grab a huge win away. Was expecting more from Qarabaq due to them playing in the champions league last season and playing well.
Qarabag failed to secure a victory in front of their home crowd, which will pose a challenge for them in the return leg. They have no choice but to win their other match in Sofia. Another possibility is that the match will go to extra time and penalties. I'm sure they'll want to win without it going to penalties. Considering their successful performance in the Champions League last year, their draw in this qualifying round surprised me quite a bit. I was expecting a victory for the Azerbaijani team at home.
