That's why it's so important to recognize the warning signs early-constantly trying to win back losses, increasing your bets all the time, or gambling with money you can't afford to lose.
Yeah, and the truth is that so many problem gamblers ignore the warning signs, until it has cost them a lot, not just financially, both socially and mentally. I would hold any casino accountable if they did ignore a users self-exclusion request or if they treat it lightly. Self-exclusion requests should always be taken seriously and it should not be able to be reversed manually. However, like we have both said, if you fail to inform the casino of your addiction problem, they are surely not going to block your account. So, it is on the gambler to quickly ask for help once gambling becomes compulsive.

Only an addicted Gambler will be bold enough in taking such kind of risk to uses money expected for wedding into gambling, what a miserable misappropriation of fund, this kind of diversion is mentally imbalance and such a gambler need to be accessed by a psychology to know if something is wrong with you for taking such a decision or not, a consciously minded person shouldn't take this kind of risk and use his money meant for wedding into gambling, the amount involved in this case is too much to bear for both him and his partner.

First of he was the one that did what he did. I see no reason why he will sue them. They didn't put a gun to his head and say gamble. All they did was advertise, it was up to him to gamble or not. But he chose to. Sueing the company from his own actions is absurd. Not a good sign of a man capable of taking full responsibilities of his own actions.

This is really embarrassing how can someone in his right senses spend the money for his wedding on gambling game and still have the audacity to sue the casino for his own negligence instead of taking full responsibility for his actions rather than shifting blames, this level of addiction is beyond this world and I am still surprised on how he was able to come out of it and what therapy procedure he was given to have saved and pull him out from addiction regardless of the severe cases he was diagnosed of, it takes only the grace of God for a person to overcome addiction, I'm happy for him on his recovery.

Currently, the guy is still in recovery, has a job now, and is married and has a child with his wife.
What's your view on this? I agree that the person who gambles should be responsible for his actions. Calls, advertisement promotions and any other form of activity that encourage the person to act while the person is not under any kind of extortion, blackmail, or any other criminal action that forces him to gamble should not held liable because the person is not a minor and is of legal age and knows the consequences of his action. It can be refuted by a situation where the gambler won millions of dollars, and the sportsbook demands to give back the winnings. Would the gambler comply? Besides, even his father reminded the gambler to get into self-exclusion, but ignore it. It is clear that the gambler's action is according to his own greedy will and not because he is forced by the casino.

I don't know what he thinks to use his wedding money to gamble, when everything is lost and there is nothing to blame, the place where he gambles is demanded.
Basically, people who are addicted to gambling in their brains are already dark, with their greed they want to continue to win and actually make the man blind to his mind. who don't care about money that shouldn't be used for gambling. What a dilemma for people who are addicted, they will always think and be restless if they don't play it. I recently had a chat with a gambler who I think is also addicted, the problem is that they already have a lot of debt and he still wants to increase his debt to gamble again. Lol

In the complaint, Miller and his attorney, Yvonne Flaherty, accused DraftKings of breaching policies by creating a product that was “highly addictive and lacking in proper safeguards.
”Miller and Flaherty also argued that the company played a role in his addiction by manipulating the brain’s dopamine receptors. I am still unable to see any good reason he sued the gambling site. All these are just not good reasons to sue a gambling site. I did not see anything like the gambling site did not self-exclused him when he went for self-exclusion. I guess this will just be a loss case. If he made huge amount of money from the gambling site, he will be very happy and not sue to gamble site. This case is just as a result of chasing losses and gambling with amounts we can't afford to loses and also the dangers of borrowing to gambler and I do agree with you that, there is absolutely no bases for suing the platform because I believe there's always terms and services every player agrees to before gambling and that alone give the casino a great edge over the player and his attorney and in all of these, the person I pity the most is the judge presiding over the case because they are just making his job difficult. Casinos have the right to promotions and marketing and if the marketing and there're are also some great bonuses and promotions I receive in my email from casinos and I should be solely responsible for my actions if I choose to accept them and not turning to blame them for doing their promotions after because I ended up losing and not winning and I still stand with Charlse to ask, what would have been his action if he won big from the casino, would he have also sued them for paying him big sum of winning?

Will taking this matter to court be successful? I don't think so, as it's quite clear that his biggest mistake was his own irresponsibility for his gambling behavior, easily tempted by advertising and promotions from gambling companies, ultimately leading to his becoming a serious addict. The aggressive advertising by bookmakers is just that, advertising, bookmakers won't force you to gamble. It would be far better for the man to focus on his recovery.

Some members here have highlighted the importance of regulating promotional offers to players, especially to VIP hosts, because their approach can appear very convincing to some vulnerable players, which might be the area the addicted one is using to sue them even when there is not much that can be gained from such cases. I can see the area he’s looking at while approaching the court room.

They actually did put a gun to his head by putting pressure on him to gamble. The constant calls, reminders, and notifications were the triggers that led him to become addicted. Considering how gambling is and the effect it is capable of having on gamblers, casinos should adopt a more moderate promotional approach, not this pattern that is capable of making someone gamble when he is not prepared for it. The casino should still be held accountable for his gambling problems.

I can see the area he’s looking at while approaching the court room. The gambler in question lacks personal accountability and the only reason I see for him sueing Draftking is because he thinks their business model may have taken advantage of him in some way that's possible that his funds were large enough to make the house deny him self exclusion while using their algorithm of house edge to milk his account dry. I would be interested to know how this case eventually turns out.

After all, casinos will send various offers to their users. If a user can't resist those offers, it means they're at fault for failing to manage their own limits and gambling habits, since users still have the ability to ignore those promotions. If they fail to do so and became addicted, then it's their own fault.
People are no longer taking accountability for their decisions, anything that happens to them they result to suing others like they were forced to do what they just did. This man should be ashamed of himself and not to act like he is the victim because he isn't, the casino did not force him to gamble instead they gave him an advertisement or promotion that interest him and he thought he could make some quick money hence he is the one at fault for not being wise and only gambling with an amount he is willing to lose. If I am his wife, I would not go ahead with the ceremony and marry such a man that can be careless because he might make the same mistake in the future.

Like I don't really understand people this days, all what he did was out of his own willing. Nobody force he to gamble and I am pretty sure he knows that gamble is made up of lost and gain so why acting up as if someone actually cause what he is going through or he was literally dragged to come and gamble. I just hope people around him should just advise him properly to drop the case because hs is only adding more salt to his injuries that will cost him more lost than gain. he know that there are people who have not understand the gambling but they are into gambling, if you understand gambling very well you will notice that there is not us in gambling and there is every possibility for you to be losing constantly in gambling without the benefiting, people who always have the mindset of benefiting in gambling there are the one that keep on losing so I know very well that gambling can make you to be depressed and you can lose what you have not or what you did not expect to lose, so gambling with the caution is the best thing someone who are new and who is experience gambler should have done

Personally, I think the guy should be held accountable for his actions, but in the article, the sportsbook sounded like they were extremely aggressive in their promotion to this guy, I mean, getting bombarded by calls, emails, and other forms of communication is a bit excessive
Every gambler should be responsible for their own actions, but that doesn't necessarily mean the sportsbook has no responsibility. If it's proven that the operator violated responsible gambling laws/policies, for example, through excessive marketing or aggressively targeting the player with promotions, then the complaint could very well be decided in the gambler's favor, regardless of the gambler's initial actions/decisions. Responsible gambling obligations exist for a reason, and licensed operators are expected to follow them. If they fail to do so, they can still be held accountable for their actions..

There is no statement about how the case was settled in the content of the report, which I could have found very interesting to see how the judge handling the case ruled on it.
The guy might be the one making all the bets and spending the money, but we should not also undermine the role of some offers when it comes directly through phone calls on a regular basis.
Not everyone can be able to handle that, especially when the person is already on an addiction stage, so the sportsbook should take responsibility for some of his losses to some extent too.
I was also looking forward to see how the case was resolved but that wasn't included, there Is no way the case would be in favour of him because he wasn't forced to gamble he did that because he made the decision to do that. Suing the casino was a bad move and if he really had people to advice him I guess they would have told him that. On the other hand getting offers by the bookies on phone calls is quite strange to me but still that's not a valid reason for taking the bookies to Court over an amount of money he wasn't forced to stake with.

He’s actually the victim, the only difference is the fact that, he isn’t the victim of the casinos but rather, he is the victim of his own foolishness. Not having to heed his father’s advice and going the extent of taking credits to gamble, to the point that he even used money meant for his wedding, that’s one awful person. It shows the wedding ceremony was of no importance to him else, he shouldn’t have gone that extent for a game he knows too well from personal experience and hear say that, you would lose often.

I just hope people around him should just advise him properly to drop the case because hs is only adding more salt to his injuries that will cost him more lost than gain. he know that there are people who have not understand the gambling but they are into gambling, if you understand gambling very well you will notice that there is not us in gambling and there is every possibility for you to be losing constantly in gambling without the benefiting, people who always have the mindset of benefiting in gambling there are the one that keep on losing so I know very well that gambling can make you to be depressed and you can lose what you have not or what you did not expect to lose, so gambling with the caution is the best thing someone who are new and who is experience gambler should have done I think before anyone goes into gambling today they should be able to know what they are going into gambling to do because gambling is not just a game that one could just pick and expect to make differences while gambling, gambling is something that you must accept the risk associated with it and most not see it as an only place or avenue to make money but are a far looking above that. When you understand the game you are betting on it would be that better for you to use at least something riskable to gamble.

What's your view on this?
Personally, I think the guy should be held accountable for his actions, but in the article, the sportsbook sounded like they were extremely aggressive in their promotion to this guy, I mean, getting bombarded by calls, emails, and other forms of communication is a bit excessive.
Come on, we’re adults and can think logically and rationally. The losses you’ve suffered are the result of the decisions you made yourself; it all comes down to you, because you’re the one who decided to make a deposit, and you’re the one who’s playing. I’m absolutely certain that if you’d won, there wouldn’t be any drama like this. Don’t gamble if you’re not prepared to lose. As for the promotions you consider aggressive, it’s very likely they’re doing the same thing to almost all of their users, and you just happen to be someone who can’t resist the temptation. In fact, there are various ways to avoid this, such as changing your cell phone number, changing your email address, and many other methods.

A man in the US sues DraftKings (a sportsbook) after claiming that the sportsbook led him to gamble away millions of dollars. According to the article, the attorney the guy hired claims that the sportsbook VIP hosts bombarded the guy with calls, emails and other forms of communication, which contributed to his growing addiction, which ultimately led him to gamble the money he saved for his wedding and took out loans to feed his gambling addiction.
This matter sounds stupid and funny with the excuse of the victim being irrelevant. It should be something of shame to him with the claims because he wasn't forced to play the bets and if he had made his goal of the bets successful one, I guess he'd be glad to be displayed in the jackpot winners board. So as he had failed, it calls for his crying out loud. In my place, this kind of a man will surely earn public criticism because he's responsible of his experience. In the other hand, I don't support the fact betting platforms are going so far of calling and sending dm to user's all for marketing of their sites.

It is not easy to change phone numbers and emails, especially if you have been using them for business as well. For emails, you can block the sender, and the same goes for phone numbers. There is also a setting to block unknown numbers. If he knew that, he could have applied it so he would not be bothered again. So this kind of lawsuit is not really favorable to him, in my opinion. I remember one user also complaining against a casino because he requested self-exclusion, but he was still able to gamble, which resulted in him losing money. So it is almost the same here, a gambler blaming the casino for his own mistakes.
