Well it's not an easy thing when we try to learn everything at once in one night but the spirit when we become beginners always gives its own color as our process of getting to know bitcoin.
A few years ago I was also a beginner and indeed there was always a great ambition to learn bitcoin quickly so that we could catch up but in the end we always forget the important thing where this is not instant and needs a process.

I even until now still do not fully understand about Node but this is the process because we only need to learn gradually so that we do not feel burdened and become prustasi. It is difficult if we only focus on understanding more quickly because knowledge of anything including bitcoin will not be able to get only 1 full study but the most important thing here is that we want to continue to learn about what we like that is very good.

I’m just wondering whether this is a normal part of the learning process. I’m the kind of person who likes to dig deeper and understand something properly when I become interested in it. However, sometimes Bitcoin becomes too technical for me.

Bitcoin has various topics and subtopics to learn. One thing I can assure you is that it is impossible to learn everything about Bitcoin in a few months. Most people take years to have this level of knowledge, as they are still learning more. What I can tell you now that has been very helpful to me is that the fastest way to learn more about Bitcoin is in this forum. Once you wake up in the morning, visit different subforums, and go back to old discussions you will find useful and helpful comments that will make you learn faster. You dont have to learn everything at once.

There are people who have been investing in Bitcoin for years and don't know technical topics like us, Ordinals and forks among others, even I took a while to get interested in going deeper into this, in the beginning it seems boring and hard, it seems like you're never going to learn. This is very normal for everyone in the beginning. Now it's about looking for quality knowledge without rush, starting with security first and the basics. Yes, try to learn everything about Bitcoin and where you're going to invest your money and your time and future, this way you'll be ahead of 90% of people who inform themselves through social media like youtube tiktok, low quality information. Just you being on this forum already shows you're on the right path.

I’m still DCAing every month, by the way. The way I feel does not change my behaviour. I can also see the progress I’m making. It just seems to take me more time compared with other people. I know I’m still new to this, but I often get annoyed with myself.
But it I may asked who told you it didn't take other peoples time before they could learn everything they know about Bitcoin today? Because the biggest lie you could lie to yourself is saying that those people never experienced same difficulty as you do today, because learning about Bitcoin is not always easy, which is why it's always advisable people start from the basic Bitcoin phrases that is been used commonly for discussion. And however, there are also lots of YouTube videos about learning the basics of crypto or Bitcoin that is available, whereby you can be playing and watching every day to get yourself familiarize with those words. So to be frankly speaking, it's not always easy, but with consistency, you will surely get there my friend.

Joining this forum is one big step OP already took because a contribution to the Bitcoin section topics and discussions would help sharpen his brain and provide some major points to make quick research on and improve in knowledge and understanding of the Bitcoin ecosystem.

The truth is that Bitcoin system is evolving daily and you must stay abreast with the current trend so as not to lose your coins or make wrong investment or even be left behind when the call to push into other safer areas like during a fork, arises.

Welcome to the world of Bitcoin where knowledge is everything and key to your understanding and even stay while on your journey in Bitcoin. OP what is happening to you is natural and is not different from every newbie that has come before you. Every one coming into Bitcoin at some times knew nothing, about what Bitcoin was but as they started, the need to study and come to terms with what is happening on Bitcoin, especially on the forum propelled them to study and learn until they are grounded in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a complex process, that has different concepts and area's so it's expected that everyone coming into Bitcoin should take his or her time to study and learn. Learning is key and fundamental because Bitcoin is like a course in the university, you can't learn everything in the same day. It will take time which will involve constant and rigorous times of learning to fully understand Bitcoin in full detail.

It will take time and a daily dose of patience to learn Bitcoin. Daily reading forum discussions really come in handy when it comes to absorbing new things in a short period of time. The development of knowledge will be slow but gradual with no rush. Such as I do here, I am continuously learning bit by bit to develop and expand my reach into the crypto world.

You don’t need to know it all as a newbie in order to start your investment in bitcoin. The technical aspect of bitcoin is difficult for most people and without a technical background earlier, you may find it hard to understand but it doesn’t mean if you put your head to it you won’t get to understand it. What is most important coming into bitcoin is knowing well about privacy and security of your bitcoin. If you are able to know this two aspects really well, it’ll really help in your investment journey.

Maybe it's because you are just starting to learn about and it's technicalities you are feeling this way, don't be bordered because you are doing the right thing and with time you will understand it more in as much as your reading is continuous, be patience with yourself and don't rush it .

Learning Bitcoin daily is part of your growth in having more knowledge about bitcoin for proper increase in knowledge and so that you also keep on upgrading.

Honestly it's pretty normal, especially with cold wallet and so on. If you never have any experience in this kind of tech, it's only normal for you to take some time to learn because we are talking about REAL security about keeping your own money not some random subject.

The reason you're confused about nodes, etc is because there are many resources that like to jump into the difficult thing, all these words will definitely sound complex for newbies.

What you need to do is keep learning and knowing the meaning of those terms by googling, eventually you will piece the puzzle together and everything will come to place.

Probably in 1 month you'd be well versed enough about self custody, keep going....

First of all, I’m very sorry if this is not the correct section for this topic.
Judging by the fact that this topic hasn't been moved to another section for two days, you've hit the nail on the head. Smiley

I wish I had at least a little technical background because I feel like I’m learning everything from zero. You cannot learn functions in mathematics without first understanding equations, and before that, you need to know how to multiply and divide numbers. That is exactly how I feel at the moment. Grin
If you want to gain knowledge, then nothing will stop you. Smiley Just start learning gradually: from simple to complex.

Sometimes I read something about Bitcoin, and it suddenly starts talking about nodes, but I have no idea what a node is. Then I need to stop and learn that first before I can understand the original topic. This takes a lot of time, and sometimes it makes me feel frustrated. I often think that if I had some technical background, I would understand these things much more easily.
Gaining knowledge has never been a quick process. But I see you're doing everything right, because when you encounter something new and unfamiliar, you pause and try to find out more about it. It's also commendable that you're doing this yourself (as some newbies do), rather than waiting for a "guru" to teach you everything.

Wasting time shouldn't upset you, because you're using it productively (gaining knowledge).

For example, I only learned about cold wallets a few months ago. It is a very basic and important concept, but I did not know anything about it. After buying one, it still took me some time to move my sats to the cold wallet because mentally, I was not ready to try it. After I finally did it, I felt very good, by the way.
There's a first time for everything. As you can see, cryptocurrencies isn't just about "fear and risk", it's also about the spirit of discovery (learning something new and taking new steps).

I’m just wondering whether this is a normal part of the learning process. I’m the kind of person who likes to dig deeper and understand something properly when I become interested in it. However, sometimes Bitcoin becomes too technical for me.
That's normal. Don't think about it, just do it. Smiley Everything new and incomprehensible always seems difficult, but over time, looking back, you'll see that everything is simpler.

I’m still DCAing every month, by the way. The way I feel does not change my behaviour. I can also see the progress I’m making. It just seems to take me more time compared with other people. I know I’m still new to this, but I often get annoyed with myself.
Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to your "past self" and become better.

It's always like that whenever a newbie wants to learn something new. For example, when it comes to cryptocurrency we might learn many things but there's still things that we haven't learned yet. As for me, I still lack knowledge about cryptocurrency and right now I just focused on reading different topics about cryptocurrency until I have a little bit of knowledge before learning on a specific information like learning about wallets. That way, you will be able to understand about wallets like cold wallet as an example.

You need more time to understand so you don't have to feels annoyed. You can learn something that you think simple for first and trying not to touch the technical first and just learn the global or the basic.

If you think you feels difficult to learn that, you can leave and search for other things that simple. Until you understand the point, you can moves forward to next lesson. The important is no need to hurry learning Bitcoin but step by step and if you already learn about cold wallet and related things, you can moves to other things you want.

I will say wrong mindset, even if you have zero background in technical you can still invest in Bitcoin. Unless you want to be a developer or something then obviously you need to have a background. But just think about it, majority here doesn't have that technical knowledge in the beginning.

We did go learn as we go in our journey. So there's no need to be frustrated or something. There are a lot of topics or subjects here in our community with regards to technical or whats not.

You can start from their and work your way to the top. Everyone here started from zero knowledge just like you.

I would give OP the same advice as you that unless he wants to be a core developer then he should take it easy and start to learn the basics first which he already did by acquiring a cold wallet, it shows that downloading a Bitcoin hot wallet should be a piece of cake for him. If he understands the importance of securing his seed phrase in different safe locations and know reliable platforms to buy from them he has aquired the basic knowledge.

Technical knowledge about the Bitcoin network and technical knowledge about trading can be learnt gradually and ofcourse some of us didn't have any technical knowledge before joining this forum. Lucky for him that he is in a community with guys who are well experienced generally in cryptocurrency discussions, he can read and learn also if he has any issues he can go to the appropriate board to start a topic.

There is nothing to be upset about, you are continuing to invest in Bitcoin according to the DCA method, keep going. By continuing to invest in Bitcoin, you will be able to know and learn everything about Bitcoin, so you never have to stop learning about Bitcoin, keep investing in Bitcoin and keep learning slowly.
Because you are investing in Bitcoin now, it is a big savings for the future, so never get upset with yourself and do not blame yourself for the bad comments of others.
You continue like this and keep investing in Bitcoin according to the DCA method, of course you will be able to fulfill yourself with success, but you have to keep Bitcoin investment for a long time.

You dont need to be frustrated when you are reading about bitcoin and you dint understand it. When you read and you dont understand it means you dont have understanding of the basic things which you need to fall back to them. Learning bitcointalk is a gradual process and if you think you want to learn everything at a time you may get comfuse because the technical aspects of bitcoin can complicated to understand and this when you need to go back to know the things you might have supposed to understand. Bitcoin is very technical and if you must understand it well you need to do it at a step, but when you want to go higher in it, it will always remind you to the things which you need to know. And i dont think one needs to be discourage by this because the solution is just for you to know the basic things .

I’m still DCAing every month, by the way. The way I feel does not change my behaviour. I can also see the progress I’m making. It just seems to take me more time compared with other people. I know I’m still new to this, but I often get annoyed with myself.

That's common human behaviour and you aren't alone in this as some of us had this feelings when we started and those currently DCAing into Bitcoin are also having this feeling because of how the market is behaving. My advice for you is just to continue since you are seeing progress, it does not matter how little your progress is but keep on investing because at the end of the day you are going to be the one to reap the fruit of your labour. Don't get frustrated with the market instead believe that every opportunity the market provides through a correction is a signal for you to continue to DCA. Comparison is a killer of progress, don't compare yourself to others instead compare your present self to your past and always try to be the better version of the past.

So many people who have been in the network for a couple of years and are even of a 'high' rank in this forum do not even understand some of these basic concepts about BTC. That is why it is easy to find threads with a lot of misconception, when the subject is about BTC.

If it is true that you are just interacting with BTC for the first time, then there is nothing you can do about the process. Of course it would have been much more easier to grasp if you had some sort of technical knowledge, even if it isn't directly related to BTC technology.

For example, I only learned about cold wallets a few months ago. It is a very basic and important concept, but I did not know anything about it. After buying one, it still took me some time to move my sats to the cold wallet because mentally, I was not ready to try it. After I finally did it, I felt very good, by the way.

Are you sure you bought something that can truly be called a cold wallet? I think that a lot of people use that term for ordinary hardware wallets, and every device that connects online is not in the cold wallet category. What is actually "cold" is an air-gapped wallet, which means that such a device has no connection to the internet, but communicates with the UI (user interface) exclusively with an SD card or QR code.

I’m just wondering whether this is a normal part of the learning process. I’m the kind of person who likes to dig deeper and understand something properly when I become interested in it. However, sometimes Bitcoin becomes too technical for me.

If it is important for you to understand Bitcoin from its technical side, then you may need more time, but I think that knowledge is not necessary for you to use Bitcoin the way you are using it now. Therefore, it makes no sense to think that you have to learn everything overnight because that's not how life works.

How many years did you go to elementary and high school, and how many more to college? Learning and applying knowledge is an ongoing process that never ends.
