It is indeed not a standard rule of deposit bonus but there are some other casinos using the same rules as luckiest even an old casino like Fortunejack use similar rules like this one (I tried it myself long time ago).
Cancelling bonus in the middle of trying to complete the wagering requirement is tricky, I have experienced it before but I forget the name of the casino.
At that time I wanted to cancel my bonus but I asked the support first "what will happen if I cancel the bonus now?"
The supports said that I will lose all my remaining balance because I have lost my initial deposit already while wagering so I decided to continue playing with the bonus.
Lesson learned for all, it is always better to ask support when we want to cancel the bonus we take so we will not regret our decision.

I don't like welcome bonuses and never claim them, but isn't this or a variation of what they said pretty standard? If you claim a welcome bonus, you first wager your own money. Whatever you deposited. Or it's divided up in some way, so you spend a portion of real funds and bonus funds. If you cancel the bonus that you have already played with without meeting the wagering requirements, you might lose some or all of your real-money deposit, depending on how much of it you gambled away by the time of the cancellation.
