You would never know what is going to happen tomorrow with bitcoin, because life is full of uncertainty, same thing is also applicable to the questions that you’re asking, I think bitcoin is going to last for decades to come, why don’t you look at the positive side of bitcoin, people loosing their private keys is understandable, but everyone can’t loose their private keys, that doesn’t mean that bitcoin isn’t going to last for a longer period, why don’t you look at the value of bitcoin and the potential of bitcoin in that time you’re talking about, Bitcoin have survived all this years, different factors have tried to bring bitcoin down, but it’s been impossible, do you have to forget how Bitcoin have stay up all this years, after several Government policies against Bitcoin.
People are getting wiser now when it comes to private keys, I know of people who now store their private keys in their “will” should in case of unforeseen circumstances.

What of when nearly all are lost?

Even though we may not know when this would be, I wonder what will happen when they're all lost.

If you die today, will your coins be lost?
Your assumption is wrong because the kind of incentive Bitcoin has for its holders is enough to motivate people to improve their backup and inheritance plans.

I don't have any inheritance plan yet, but if I died, my coins would be long gone. I have not shared with anyone how much I am holding because the amount is too low for now to share with anyone. I will use a centralized exchange's service for this. I heard some exchanges have this feature.

So, if I die without a plan for my Bitcoin, then that's my mistake. Bitcoin is not the main problem. We must prepare ourselves and our money to inherit it to the next generation. But maybe people have fewer savings and less investment, so they can't inherit them because they know they will eventually end up using them instead, or they don't want them to appear on paper.

Many things are unpredictable, and the earlier we realize that anything can actually happen, the better. However, for the time being, I am certain that nothing will happen because Bitcoin will be around for a very long time, and the earlier we get involved, the better. One thing we have been ignoring is that the world is changing and everything is going digital, and just look at it, the projection of Satoshi is just crazy because I'm sure that one day, even with government control, they will also rely on and encourage people to invest in it.Apart from contributing to the many benefits of investing in Bitcoin, you might have assets that no one will even be aware of.

And Bitcoin has faced a lot of challenges, and till now some people still see Bitcoin as a problem, and some see it as a Ponzi scheme, but whichever way, I don't think that has stopped anyone from investing so these are thing that should even convince us that it is here to stay.

The importance of the private security key of a Bitcoin wallet is well known to today's kids. As important as investing in Bitcoin is, the private security key and seed phrase are even more important. In the past, Bitcoin holdings that were lost were lost due to negligence. Since Bitcoin initial value was low, holders could not understand the importance of this asset and were not aware of preserving the seed phrase. Nowadays, most investors are aware of this and the possibility of losing their Bitcoin holdings is also low.

In the current context investors should be as committed as possible to investing in Bitcoin regularly. Currently investors store their Bitcoin security keys and seed phrases in a soft place (online). This method is wrong. Because at any time, your device can be hacked and you can lose your Bitcoin holdings. Instead  write them down on paper and hide copies of them in multiple places. If one is lost, you can use another to restore your Bitcoin holdings.

I think one generation is about 30 years and working with that, will Bitcoin last as longb as we imagine? Some private keys are already lost and many more are getting lost because their owners died without passing then on or they simply lost them.

Based on these possibilities, what do you think will happen in some decades when many of the private keys are lost?

What of when nearly all are lost?

Even though we may not know when this would be, I wonder what will happen when they're all lost.

If you die today, will your coins be lost?
Bitcoin will last for a long time, including generations after generations. It is a system that is created in such a way that no one is controlling it, so there is no option to shut it down or stop it. You can run a node on your computer and create a bitcoin wallet there, and make transactions. Now it is true that people's seed phrases are being lost, the owner is dying, so many bitcoins have been frozen so far, and it is normal that such incidents will happen in the future. However, since the price of bitcoin was low in the past, people did not give it much importance, now that bitcoin has become valuable, people will give importance and try to ensure that the seed phrase is not lost. Even then, if a large number of bitcoins are frozen every decade, it is not that bitcoin will be lost forever. Over time, the popularity of Bitcoin will increase, the demand will increase and the supply of Bitcoin will continue to decrease, while if there is a freeze, the supply in the market will also decrease, resulting in an even higher price. It is true that there is no central system to recover the wallet passphrase if it is lost. But now that people are aware, they store it properly and also give access to it to their children or trusted family members so that they can use it in absence. So in reality, the idea that Bitcoin will completely disappear due to the lack of access to some Bitcoins is completely baseless.

There is a very common saying in the crypto world or Bitcoin world that Whoever controls the seed phrase controls the funds. The seed phrase is the key to your holdings, so every person should take care of their seed phrase as they take care of their children. Because it is not possible to say what the price of Bitcoin will be in the future, but we can make an estimate according to the current situation, which can tell us what the price of Bitcoin can be in the future. Keeping the seed phrase hidden only within you is not the right decision at all, because if you suffer any kind of loss or you die, no one will be able to enjoy your holdings, so you should tell someone you trust about the seed phrase, such as your wife or parents.
There is no point in underestimating Bitcoin at this time, Bitcoin has now entered the mainstream economy

Bitcoin isn't likely to disappear just because some private keys are lost- those coins simply become permanently inaccessible, reducing supply and potentially increasing scarcity for the remaining ones. Over decades, better inheritance planning and custody solutions will likely reduce key loss significantly. If I died today without sharing access, my coins would be lost - but that's more a personal security issue than a flaw in bitcoin itself.

Whem all private keys will be lost? Do you not know that is not possible.

Many people in the past just bought bitcoin with a very small amount of money to them, not knowing bitcoin will increase significantly but theyr just buy it. After bitcoin price increased, they noticed their coins that was worth the amount they can afford to lose is now worth thousands or millions of dollars.

Many people will not make the mistake of losing their private key like before.

The more bitcoin that is lost, the scarcity will increase, which will make the price to increase.
It's absolutely not possible for all private keys to be lost. There's a huge difference between the past and now, so I don't think any investor will allow such a thing, because you don't need to be told about the value of Bitcoin anymore.

Even though nobody is above mistakes, I think people are more careful now with their Bitcoin investment than before. It is absolutely advisable to do the needful and secure your investment, because Bitcoin has a great future ahead.

Even though we may not know when this would be, I wonder what will happen when they're all lost.

Bitcoin will survive even for every future generation. Logically, Bitcoin has a fixed total supply even though the amount accessible decreases over time due to the loss of private keys. Because in each generation most holders inevitably die and don't pass on their seed phrases to their families, and those Bitcoins are lost forever. It's currently estimated that 20% of Bitcoins are lost because they can no longer be accessed, and this figure will continue to rise with each generation.

My point is this Even if many people lose access to Bitcoin let's say, roughly, up to 80%. Bitcoins still exist on the blockchain but they can't be moved. In theory, the number of Bitcoins in circulation will decrease, making Bitcoin a scarce asset. Essentially, I'm saying Bitcoin won't die, even though many people lose their keys or access to Bitcoin with each generation. Instead, Bitcoin will become scarcer over time because the fewer Bitcoins in circulation, the harder it will be to obtain due to the increasingly high price.

Quote
If you die today, will your coins be lost?
Prepare your bitcoin inheritance starting now if you are serious about holding it long term because no one knows when we will die.

How can be expect all the private keys or seed phrases to get lost for all the non-custodial wallets holding bitcoins? The first few served a lesson for everyone else to be more careful with these things, and we can already see the effects of that today. People are more and more vigilant when it comes to keeping their private keys and seed phrases safe because they know that if they lose these things, they will lose their money, and no one would want that.

When it comes to deaths, I think we have already reached a position in this industry where people are now well-aware of how they need to manage these things, like finding a way to make their assets accessible for their children and family once they pass away, and moving into the future, there will surely be better ideas and ways for people to do that, so deaths are not really going to cause Bitcoin to not last and get lost because it will keep getting passed on to the newer generations in one way or another.

I also agree with that because I believe the reason for Bitcoin's disappearance can never be the fact that all the coins get lost because that can be said hypothetically, but it doesn't sound logical when we talk about it practically.

However, there is one thing I can say and it is that we cannot see the future, right? Just like how no one could ever imagine before 2009 that someone is creating a decentralized peer-to-peer payment system which will work without anyone controlling anything, completely dependent on its users and those who support the network through mining. Similarly, we can't know whether something better could be created in the future. I mean, if Satoshi could create Bitcoin, someone else could create something even more revolutionary.

I know that most of us currently would think it's not possible, but who knows? We never think something is possible until it is actually done. Look at AI and how it's progressing, a few back from today, no one would imagine a technology like this would come in the future.

Essentially, we really do need to think about and make preparations for passing on the Bitcoin we own, because, after all, no one knows how long we live, and no one knows when that time will come. At the very least, by informing our family members, our efforts in investing in Bitcoin won’t be in vain. Although i’m sure we all still want to see Bitcoin’s future development.

Currently, many people focus only on securing their seed phrase to avoid the worst-case scenario of theft. Beyond that, we really should ensure that someone, whether a family member or someone we trust, can access the Bitcoin we own. Imagine if, when we pass away, no family member knows we own Bitcoin, or even if they do, they don’t know where we’ve stored the seed phrase, which could potentially result in the Bitcoin being lost forever.

If a generation is 30 years it means that Bitcoin has already lasted more than half of that and has the potential of lasting longer than that well let me not act too sure like the future is predictable or I've been there before but my potential is based on the historical achievement of Bitcoin that's why i said the potential to do better is there.

Bitcoin has the potential to last for the next century which is 100 years time, Bitcoin is not looking like it is going to die anytime soon hence it is important that we keep our Bitcoin very safe and at least avoid scenarios that will make us lose it either by not using the right wallet or keeping your seed phrase carelessly. As for passing on our Bitcoin from one generation to the next, I think we can achieve this by enlightening the next generation so that they don't become clueless on what Bitcoin is. We should introduce them into the market and also create Bitcoin wallet for them to start investing so that they can have their own Bitcoin instead of depending on inheritance.

Sniped.

That's right, research says that it the last Bitcoin would be mined by 2140 and the 21 market cap would reached so we still have a long way to go before we can even think of the potential of Bitcoin dying soon, maybe the OP haven't understood that fact yet which is why he came up with the topic.
However the major worry shouldn't be about Bitcoin lasting longer than our generation but taking advantage of it now as a store of value, accumulating and holding for years, then secure it as an inheritance for our children or unborn children. Dude, our Bitcoin can't just die with us, I know it's important to pass the knowledge of owning Bitcoin to our kids but they'll also have to own ours when we die, so making provision for them to have access to it when were gone is important too.

What you fail to consider in your equation is that everybody holding Bitcoin now will not just die at once or lose their seed phrases at once. Bitcoin is being circulated; more people are buying, and the people who already have are moving their coins around when they send them to other people. So there will always be Bitcoin available for people.
Besides, not everybody will die without passing on their Bitcoin. Bitcoin is only 17 years old right now. I believe that in the next 20 years, people will include Bitcoin in their wills more often.
Then there is the fact that there is still more Bitcoin to be mined. Bitcoin mining will stil go on for another 100+ years, so there will always be a supply.

Normally we can't predict anything, but still one thing is sure Bitcoin is going to stay till the last bitcoin is mined. Even still, many possibilities about its future exist, but it's not going to disappear. It's a fact people are not having a real point of view about this but try to make things miserable just because of their mindset.

Technology is always developed and has enough potential to do things more advanced. The same is going to happen here even if we do not exist, but things will stay and have good development with price fluctuation. It is going to stay like this now. A few changes happen in this also, but they will keep things volatile because they want control, which is not easy.

It is not possible that all keys holding Bitcoin would be lost as a result of owners demise or whatever. As far as I am concerned, Bitcoin value drives it's worth and that would keep pushing it forward till every single individual holds a fraction of it in their custody.
Bitcoin has been planned and designed to last forever hence you see the constant increase in adoption globally. One thing I will say is that, as long as technology keeps existing and evolving, there would definitely be a continuous development and improvement in existing technology paving way for a better performance in line with the current  trends in existence.

Storing our seed phrase and the privet key in a place that none would be able to get access to it very important, but some people are very careless about their wallet security’s which is why the hackers find it very easy to hack most people wallet. If not some investors that they don’t care about their money can you imagine that some will have huge amounts of money in their wallet, but they prefer to save their seed phrase in their phone instead of them to find a very cool place to store their seed phrase.

Seed phrase is as important as the amount of money that is in the wallet the reason why most people fall victim to hackers and scammers is as a result of their own negligence to safe guard their money. No investor will want to lose their hard earned money after working so hard to make it but due to the fact that they do not understand the importance of security that's why they misplace it and sometimes keep it in an unsafe place where another person can easily locate.

There are so many good ways to store seed phrase and a good investor will not fail to learn the various ways but those who do not value the importance of security are mostly affected because they do not care much about what they have.

Even though we may not know when this would be, I wonder what will happen when they're all lost.

hypothetical questions are always the toughest to answer. It would have been best if you had dropped your own opinion while asking the same question because I don't think anyone of us is from the future. Okay, how about we do a little calculation here, and let's see if we can draw a little conclusion from that... Bitcoin has been in existence for 17years now if I'm not mistaken, and you just suggested that one generation is about 30years(which I'm not exactly sure of). 30-17 is about 13, which means we're 13years away from completing the generational cycle using the figure you gave. And so far so good, the network is still pretty much in a good shape... Adoption is increasing... It's not longer a new thing in our society, and people are used to the word 'Bitcoin'.

I personally don't think a lost coin or lost recovery phrase would cause too many changes. People are now becoming more away, and are now less prone to making mistakes. Infact, it's even difficult to identify the number of users who have lost their coins through one mistake or the other because we often see dormant wallets waking up from time to time.
