Are you contradicting your own comment? Because one moment you are saying to invest long term and the next moment you are saying to trade crypto or to trade. Trading is never a way to make quick profits. A person who considers trading as a way to make quick profits is definitely involved in gambling. We can call trading a type of gambling. Trading is never good and the chances of a person losing money from trading are very high and in this thread we are discussing long term investment so don't mislead anyone or make anyone greedy by saying trading or trading is a way to make quick profits.

Many new people may be interested in trading by being greedy after reading your comment and may face losses. Especially in this thread it is always good to talk about long term investment because many new people use this thread to learn about long term.
I hope you make reference to the topic of this discussion, it is clearly about making good profit in Bitcoin investment and it is referenced to small investor making profit with Bitcoin.

Both Bitcoin trading and investment can give profit, but thinking about how to make the profit quick for some people who wants quick return because they might have decided to join because they see people making money from Bitcoin, they can’t hold patiently, so trading is the best option for them if they understand the market, they find their way out.

Read my comment again, is not misleading, you are misunderstanding my explanations because you might have something different in mind; your decision to trade or to hold depends on you. You can’t hold for long to make profit, then trade Bitcoin. It’s as simple as that.

it is not bad to buy the dip provided there is available cash for it while still using DCA as the main strategy. The only thing that is wrong with buying the dip strategy, is idea of waiting for a dip to occur before buying. There is no one that can predict or tell when a dip will occur. The best way is for an investor to continue accumulating bitcoin using DCA strategy while keeping some percentage of there discretionary income for buying the dip if it eventually occurs. The most important thing here is being consistent and at the same time setting aside some percentage of discretionary funds for buying the dip.

When it comes to purchasing the dip, it is not as horrible as it seems because there is a better way to do it than simply waiting for the dip; you may purchase using the DCA technique. And that is the most efficient approach to purchase and hold, and if you can demonstrate consistency, you won't have any issues when it comes to buying and holding. The DCA method is what most people know how to use, so you won't have to wait every time.

And for those who find it difficult to make purchases all at once, DCA helps you prepare and archive your goal of accumulating more money. In addition, you need to have a source of income and then have emergency funds. We should understand the purpose of having emergency funds because that way, you won't sell what you want because that is how it is supposed to be. Just consistency is what matters the most.

It's not that trading is a good option for someone who can't wait long. Rather, if someone already has a lack of patience, trading can make that problem worse. Because trading involves making frequent decisions and is more emotionally involved in short-term price movements. In my opinion, if you give advice, especially to a newbie, that "if you can hold it for a long time, then trade," it can be even more dangerous. Because his problem is probably not the market, he may have invested with money that he will need in a few weeks or months, or he may have entered with the expectation of quick profits. In that case, I think he should not go into trading, but instead reduce his investment amount, understand his own expenses and discretionary income well, and create a plan that is more reasonable for him that he can continue for several years.

 You can't give direct trading advice to a newbie. Because I clearly understand that trading can also cause losses to experienced people.

Sometimes it's not about having a big or small capital, but about the consistency to keep going and trying to make a profit. Start with whatever you can afford. Because investing is a process. The most important thing is that you can be consistent, manage your time, and handle risk. Build ownership consistently, manage risk, and let time and discipline do their work. From small beginnings, something big can be built. Sometimes we'll hit a jackpot at a certain time, so small capital is not a problem. What's important is your patience, because reaching something big takes longer, but you'll get the best education from it. CMIIW

Holding back cash just to buy the dip  isn't that waiting for the dip? And that money that person is withholding, temptation can even make the person to blow the money up on useless expenses just because the person didn't buy, but was waiting for the dip to come. I don't see why person shouldn't just use just use all the whole percentage of discretionary income they can afford to use, for their ongoing investments. Because it will be so pointless to be waiting for dip that may never happen or dip that can make person to miss out and buy at the top.

I don't actually knows your own definition of reserve funds, but I want you to understand that putting down reserve funds in place from your discretionary income while still accumulating consistently is not waiting for the dip as you think, because that reserve funds can be useful in the future, especially when their is a dip in the market.

Buying a dip or buying aggressively when the dip opportunity comes is never a problem as long as you are not waiting for it, because by waiting, you may miss a whole lot of buying opportunities that you should have bought and add to your stash, so it's never a wise decision to be waiting before buying, especially if you are a newbie or a no coiner that is just starting his accumulation journey.

Holding back cash just to buy the dip  isn't that waiting for the dip? I don't see why person shouldn't just use just use all the whole percentage of discretionary income they can afford to use, for their ongoing investments. Because it will be so pointless to be waiting for dip that may never happen or dip that can make person to miss out and buy at the top.

Investing the entire amount of discretionary income is a very aggressive investment that will not be the right decision at all. It would be a very logical decision to make a balanced plan by considering everything, such as emergency fund and other funds and money for additional expenses. Once you invest your entire amount of discretionary income, if you face any kind of crisis, you may be forced to sell your holdings.

The amount of money required to create an emergency fund is used from our discretionary income. So if you do not have an emergency fund or if your emergency fund is not fully built, it will never be the right decision to invest the entire amount of your discretionary income. The wisest decision is to divide this safety layer into several parts, the more separate funds you can create, the more protection your investment will increase.

Money for additional expenses is kept from your discretionary fund. Many times it is seen that the amount of expenses increases in a month or week. At that time, some amount of money is set aside from the discretionary fund to meet these additional expenses, so that these additional expenses can be met.

I have been thinking lately about how investing in bitcoin is actually a great idea but also it can be really hard to make profit off bitcoin if you're a small Investor
Imagine this:
If bitcoin is at $64k and me as a small investor bought with $1k, for me to make 100% profit bitcoin will have to hit $128k, that is still feasible
But if I'm hoping to make a 200% profit on my investment bitcoin price will have to get to $256k, how achievable is that ? And if it's achievable how long is it going to take

Which brings me back to my question
Can small investors actually make good profit with bitcoin?

Or are there other ways to make money with bitcoin as a small investor rather than just buy and hold?

Bitcoin doesn’t guarantee you to get a profit, the reason why i said that is because most people invest in bitcoin because they think by doing so they will make a good profit, bitcoin is not a place you can get rich, people invest in bitcoin for future, not for becoming rich in time, even though we invest in bitcoin because we trust it and believe that when the price is high we can make a good profit it doesn’t mean we should think about it because that is one of the reasons why some individuals start panicking when they see the price is going down, if you want to make a quick profit don’t think about bitcoin, there are many ways to make profit.

Many of us here are expecting way beyond $256K prices in the near future.

Personally I think we might be around 1 million by the end of 2028.
Do you mean that the numbers of people here expecting Bitcoin to be $256k in the near future would be 1 million or that Billion would be around 1 million in the near future? Yes Bitcoin has the potential of reaching $256k from 2028 to 2030 but it could take it longer to get to 1 million dollar. As for a small investing making good profits, it's not very hard it just requires consistency in accumulation, Bitcoin's potential is more than we can inmagine, signing the clarity act in the near future is enough to influence a better figure than $256k.

I think what the user meant was that Bitcoin might be around $1 million by the end of 2028, which is about 2 years and few months from now. It's hard for me to picture that because $256K sounds more closer and possible, but again, there are certain factors that are going to determine how soon or how far we are from this 'future' that we talk about.

An Investor,  choosing to buy $1K worth of Bitcoin at a certain price only once, is definitely going to make a profit, but not compared to someone who accumulated something more for a longer period. There are factors that contributes to the amount of profits an investor ends up with.... Which accumulation strategy and duration of investment, are the two major ones.
Well you have to know that such statements are merely speculation, they absolutely don’t know what they’re talking about, the best thing that you can do for yourself is by doing the right things which is buying bitcoin regardless of what people are talking about and making noises, when you have a discretionary income what you will do is buy bitcoin, what difference is it going to make that we’re waiting for something we know nothing about when we can actually be buying bitcoin instead of speculating for price, you might regularly be getting disappointed, there are people who can buy bitcoin through lump sum because they have the money, but most people prefer buying through the DCA because it’s sustainable for a long term investment in Bitcoin.

~~~
I believe small investors can still make meaningful profits from bitcoin, but also their expectations need to be realistic. Because bitcoin is not longer in it early days when people could invest a few hundred dollars and become millionaires overnight. Today steady accumulation and patience are far more important than chasing huge returns in a short time.
I know some people who started with a very small amount and felt discouraged because the gains seemed insignificant. Instead of giving up or jumping into risky coins, they  continued buying small amounts whenever they could. Overtime their holdings grew and they realized that consistency mattered more than trying to time every market move. Also buying and holding is not the only way to earn bitcoin. Because some people participate in signature campaigns, freelance for bitcoin, accept it as payment or contribute to the bitcoin community in other ways.
So as a small investor, increasing the amount of that bitcoin you own can be just as valuable as waiting for the price to appreciate and In the end I think the size of your investment does not matters than your strategy. A disciplined investor with a long term plan often do better than someone who invests a large amount but constantly buys and sells based on emotions
Indeed there's a chance for them to earn profits even if they are small investor. Since those small amounts they purchase would add up overtime and eventually they can accumulate decent volume in future, especially if they are consistent with their investment.
Also what important is they are eager towards focusing on their goals and they have patience to deal with many challenges.
If they can earn with their community engagement here or do other works outside of this platform then its good. Because they can use their extra earnings to fund their investment which can help them get more better result in future. Investment size does not matter here, since their strategy towards dealing with long term plans would help them reach their goals.
Bitcoin doesn't guarantee profit but I can tell you that loss is certain if you don't follow it with the investment approach because if you buy Bitcoin and hoping to sell in short period of time and unfortunately the price doesn't move... the person will start panicking and if they used money that isn't from there disposal they will rush and sell in loss that is why I said loss is guarantee if you don't follow the investment approach which is having the long term mindset.
it is not bad to buy the dip provided there is available cash for it while still using DCA as the main strategy. The only thing that is wrong with buying the dip strategy, is idea of waiting for a dip to occur before buying. There is no one that can predict or tell when a dip will occur. The best way is for an investor to continue accumulating bitcoin using DCA strategy while keeping some percentage of there discretionary income for buying the dip if it eventually occurs. The most important thing here is being consistent and at the same time setting aside some percentage of discretionary funds for buying the dip.
Holding back cash just to buy the dip  isn't that waiting for the dip? And that money that person is withholding, temptation can even make the person to blow the money up on useless expenses just because the person didn't buy, but was waiting for the dip to come. I don't see why person shouldn't just use just use all the whole percentage of discretionary income they can afford to use, for their ongoing investments. Because it will be so pointless to be waiting for dip that may never happen or dip that can make person to miss out and buy at the top.
You are making a reasonable point @PhilosopherKing.
There are trade offs in waiting for the dip, even if a person might be deploying most of his discretionary funds for DCA and holding back some value for buying dips.
I am not against a duel strategy that allows for holding back value for buying dips, even though many guys tend to oversell it and act as if it is a superior strategy when it is not a superior strategy, especially when several guys may well be way better off to just make their decisions regarding how much BTC to buy every week and then perhaps they see how much they have at the end of the month too, and see if they have extra... and yeah, there could be some times that guys hold back some value to buy dips, yet they still need to recognize the trade offs  in terms of the dips may or may not end up coming.
Holding back value to buy dips seems to make more sense during periods that guys might find themselves with extra value, so for some reason they received a bonus or some other lump sum amount coming available.  So in those instances, they maybe had already employed their DCA, and then they have an extra amount that is available and they might want to buy some bitcoin right away with it and they are hesitating whether to use the full amount, so maybe they just use half and they hold onto to the other half and ponder over whether to invest, save and/or to discretionarily consume, and then maybe a dip comes, and they end up getting persuaded by the dip to buy some bitcoin with it.
There could be other times that buying the dip makes sense, especially with guys who may well be buying bitcoin consistently, yet there seems to be little to no reason to act as if there aren't any trade offs to be holding back value to buy dips that may or may not end up happening.
Holding back cash just to buy the dip  isn't that waiting for the dip? And that money that person is withholding, temptation can even make the person to blow the money up on useless expenses just because the person didn't buy, but was waiting for the dip to come. I don't see why person shouldn't just use just use all the whole percentage of discretionary income they can afford to use, for their ongoing investments. Because it will be so pointless to be waiting for dip that may never happen or dip that can make person to miss out and buy at the top.
I don't actually knows your own definition of reserve funds, but I want you to understand that putting down reserve funds in place from your discretionary income while still accumulating consistently is not waiting for the dip as you think, because that reserve funds can be useful in the future, especially when their is a dip in the market.
Buying a dip or buying aggressively when the dip opportunity comes is never a problem as long as you are not waiting for it, because by waiting, you may miss a whole lot of buying opportunities that you should have bought and add to your stash, so it's never a wise decision to be waiting before buying, especially if you are a newbie or a no coiner that is just starting his accumulation journey.
You are just making up definitions Barikui1.
If you are holding back value to buy the dip then you are waiting, even if you are regularly buying.
There surely can be several reasons that guys want to keep extra value in cash, and even hold back some value, so guys can choose to not put high portions of their discretionary funds into their DCA and then be unable to buy any more BTC, yet there are still trade offs when holding back value, even though some guys might find it as practical to hold back value and keep it in cash for multiple reasons.. maybe they are saving up for a vacation or to go out to eat or maybe to buy a new computer or a motorcycle/auto, and maybe after several weeks, there flexible reserve funds have gotten up to more than $1k, and then they end up satisfying their other needs and they still have $500 remaining in their reserve funds, when the BTC price suddenly dips.  They weren't holding those reserves specifically for the dip, but then when the dip ended up coming, they ended up being inspired to buy the dip with the $500 extra funds (in my example) that they had.
So yeah there can be multiple reasons that guys hold back value and don't buy bitcoin with it as aggressively as they could based on their own preferences, yet there is not just ONE way to do it, even though maybe we look at some guys and we might think that they would be better off to buy bitcoin with their extra money rather than some other way that they are spending their money or even that they are keeping too much cash in hand, even though those are personal choices, up to a point, until it might start to seem a bit illogical in terms of the extremes that some guys might end up taking that might not seem to be the exercising of good judgement, even though each of us is free to exercise our own judgement, even if we might sometimes come to conclusions that are inferior (even considering our own circumstances).
When we get down the road 4-10 years or longer and then we end up looking back at what we did and how much BTC we had accumulated, we may well have regrets about what we did, so in that sense, we likely have to figure out some reasonable balance in order that we do not end up having regrets down the road in regards to how whimpy or aggressive that we had chosen to be in the way that we bought bitcoin and the extent that we held back value for buying dips that may or may not end up happening.
1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k
it is not bad to buy the dip provided there is available cash for it while still using DCA as the main strategy. The only thing that is wrong with buying the dip strategy, is idea of waiting for a dip to occur before buying. There is no one that can predict or tell when a dip will occur. The best way is for an investor to continue accumulating bitcoin using DCA strategy while keeping some percentage of there discretionary income for buying the dip if it eventually occurs. The most important thing here is being consistent and at the same time setting aside some percentage of discretionary funds for buying the dip.
When it comes to purchasing the dip, it is not as horrible as it seems because there is a better way to do it than simply waiting for the dip; you may purchase using the DCA technique. And that is the most efficient approach to purchase and hold, and if you can demonstrate consistency, you won't have any issues when it comes to buying and holding. The DCA method is what most people know how to use, so you won't have to wait every time.
And for those who find it difficult to make purchases all at once, DCA helps you prepare and archive your goal of accumulating more money. In addition, you need to have a source of income and then have emergency funds. We should understand the purpose of having emergency funds because that way, you won't sell what you want because that is how it is supposed to be. Just consistency is what matters the most.
Regular investment in the DCA method helps reduce the risk of timing and the influence of emotions on decisions. When an investor waits for a decline, he is not sure whether it will happen at all or when it will happen. However, on the contrary, if you invest regularly at a certain time according to your ability, you do not have to worry too much about short-term fluctuations and you can build positions gradually. Income and emergency funds play an important role in maintaining continuity. Because if an unexpected situation arises and the investment has to be broken due to it, then continuity is not maintained. In this DC method of investment, it is not mandatory to invest the same amount of money every week. An investor can sometimes increase the amount or sometimes invest with a smaller amount according to his income and expenditure situation. That is, after ensuring his needs and security, it is realistic to use the remaining money regularly in investments and thus continue investing in a systematic manner.
Sometimes it's not about having a big or small capital, but about the consistency to keep going and trying to make a profit. Start with whatever you can afford. Because investing is a process. The most important thing is that you can be consistent, manage your time, and handle risk. Build ownership consistently, manage risk, and let time and discipline do their work. From small beginnings, something big can be built. Sometimes we'll hit a jackpot at a certain time, so small capital is not a problem. What's important is your patience, because reaching something big takes longer, but you'll get the best education from it. CMIIW
 I agree with you that the success in bitcoin investment doesn't actually determined by the size of money invested at a starting, and that's what some folks or newbies put in mind that they want to start with huge amount. The facts is, bitcoin investment doesn't really need a huge capital for starting, start with the amount of money you can afford to lose, and the invested money should only be discretionary income. So consistency matters alots than trying to make a huge entry, the best is know how to manage your risk and learn along the line and then let your long-term Bitcoin accumulation goals grows higher, by exercising patience enough, then for the newbies, know how to control your discretionary income you put in, how frequent you do it and be able to identify whether you truly have the patience to stay consistent over a period if time.
I believe that smal investors can make good money off bitcoin,  but I can only advice that you buy and hold, that's the only way you can make profit. You really don't have to care about how much you are accumulating,  but the most important thong is the consistency. You don't have to care how much other people are investing,  but you little investing and your consistency can help you make good profit in the long-term. It's true that their are other means, but I think they are very risky, so the best advice is that you just accumulate and hold for a long time and I believe that you will definitely make good profit in the future.
What you said is right but I want to add that people should learn to invest what they can afford to lose, this is the mistake people are making that cost them their peace. If you invest small portion of your funds into bitcoin such that if profits does not come very fast, you will not be perturbed. Such style will also allow the investor give the investment enough time to generate profits. Bitcoin still remain one of the coolest thing to invest in as it gives the investor the opportunity to invest what they can since they can invest fraction and not compulsorily 1BTC.
You make a reasonable point B-BossMan since it seems to be the case that newbies sometimes will jump into bitcoin by attempting to front load too much at one times, so even if a newbie can front load his investment into bitcoin, it may be better to pace out the money, even if such money is available.
Of course, there could also be regret if a guy has $3k in savings (or other locations) that he could invest into bitcoin yet he decides to start with $100 per week from his regular income.
Frequently a compromise would be to perhaps take 1/3 from the the savings and put it in bitcoin or some other amount that seems reasonable in terms of investing right away, DCAing and/or buying on dips.
The newbie can decide his timeline, yet at the same time, the newbie can still feel tempted to get started when he has 30 weeks worth of his weekly buys that is available to him that money could be frontloaded.  The newbie is feeling a dilemma in terms of whether to put a lot of money in at once or to pace out his entrance into bitcoin, and putting all of the money in at once is not necessarily the solution, so some balance is best to be considered, applied and accepted as a balanced approach.. rather than trying to get too invested whether the BTC price goes up, down or sideways.. and if the investment takes place and it is paced, then progress in building is ongoingly made, but not too much emotional pressur that might come when too much is put into bitcoin at one time.
Much really better for newbies to build those habit and good structure on which they can actually maintain, not trying to find a perfect entry. Using the portion of their funds up then follow it with their steady weekly accumulations, since this gives them better exposure also stability. Doing this he will have total control over their cashflow and their emotions to.
Bitcoin is well established coin and good long term asset to hold, this is the reason why if they stay disciplined, then calm if there fuds came and consistent it can help them to perform more better compare if they are chasing for those possible perfect moments.
Holding back cash just to buy the dip  isn't that waiting for the dip? And that money that person is withholding, temptation can even make the person to blow the money up on useless expenses just because the person didn't buy, but was waiting for the dip to come. I don't see why person shouldn't just use just use all the whole percentage of discretionary income they can afford to use, for their ongoing investments. Because it will be so pointless to be waiting for dip that may never happen or dip that can make person to miss out and buy at the top.
Investing the entire amount of discretionary income is a very aggressive investment that will not be the right decision at all. It would be a very logical decision to make a balanced plan by considering everything, such as emergency fund and other funds and money for additional expenses. Once you invest your entire amount of discretionary income, if you face any kind of crisis, you may be forced to sell your holdings.
You misunderstood Philosopherking completely in his above text. He wasn't saying that you should buy with all your discretionary income. If you read his comment properly, you would see clearly that what he means was.., there was no need holding money back because you want to wait for the Dip, that it is better you just 'use all the percentage of discretionary income that you can afford to use for your ongoing investment'
By implication, all the percentage he meant was the one you have mapped out for your investment that week or month, and NOT the whole or entire discretionary. Why would someone use the whole discretionary income for investment while you dont have  enough back up funds. You would be needing some money for discretionary expenses, and all these comes from your discretionary. Your discretionary has to make up for your 1) investment, 2)back up funds and 3) discretionary expenses. With this, it is totally unwise for someone to use all total discretionary to buy.
A consistent DCAing has always proven more formidable and a nice way of gradually building your portfolio without been under pressure and compulsorily involving in big buys before you grow. With the DCA, it is one at a step. Tailoring your buys according to your needs and what you can afford at a given time. Buying the DiP is okay, but waiting for it shouldn't be the reason why you pause your consistent DCA buys.
Allow me to simplify what you mean so it is easier for beginners to understand.
The best strategy for beginners when investing in Bitcoin is to build a habit of regular accumulation, or DCA. Instead of seeking the perfect entry point, make an initial small purchase and follow up with steady weekly or monthly accumulation to keep emotions in check and mitigate downside market risk.
The reason a phased strategy is highly recommended over going all-in or waiting for the perfect moment is that gradual purchasing prevents panic if prices suddenly plummet after you buy.
Since Bitcoin has proven to be a robust, established asset for long-term holding, beginners should focus on discipline and consistency rather than trying to predict prices. Keep accumulating, ignore the noise, and let time do the work.
