Do you have a story of betrayal caused by addiction to gambling?
The most curious case and at the same time terrible from a human point of view. Because I hope she didn't love him? After all, he had clearly shown his dislike for this woman. Maybe it was when there were normal feelings, but it turned out that his addiction made him degrade very much. I hope that these 300k will help her feel the restoration of justice.

Addiction to gambling can betray your loved one; it's hard to imagine the husband spending his wife's care funds on gambling at casinos. As her husband, it is his duty to ensure the funds entrusted to him are used for her medical needs, but instead, he gambles them away. The husband of a police officer who was incapacitated after being shot in the line of duty has been found by an Alabama probate judge to have misused his wife’s care funds, including spending substantial amounts at Mississippi casinos. This husband is heartless; he didn't care for his wife, and he didn't even think that his wife needed it for her medical needs. Instead, he gambled her money in the casinos. It's good that justice has been served in the end The judge also ordered Hartford Insurance, the backer of the fiduciary bond issued when the man was named his wife’s conservator, to pay the victim $300,000, for which the company may seek reimbursement from the husband. Do you have a story of betrayal caused by addiction to gambling? There is a huge list of fraud by people who have succumbed to gambling addiction, and every addiction in fact. While you can have a little sympathy for the plight of someone stuck in that rut, ultimately it is an incredibly selfish and self centered act to keep an addiction going every day. When it gets this bad then they have taken it a step further, not only were they willing to hurt themselves but they were willing to hurt other people in the pursuit of their own "happiness" as well. It's one thing to tell yourself lies every day, to try and justify the position you're in, but at least that can be self contained. These often target people who are weaker or cannot defend themselves for different reasons - making it ever more sleazy.

-cut- This husband is heartless; he didn't care for his wife, and he didn't even think that his wife needed it for her medical needs. Instead, he gambled her money in the casinos. It's good that justice has been served in the end -cut-
This is quite common, but it's not that simple that someone would automatically be heartless for doing this. People who suffer from addiction are selfish because there's not really room for empathy. Whole energy goes to dealing with their own problems so most that they are capable of is projection. Not all of them obviously. What he was irresponsible, and that's where the selfishness shows. And i am not saying addicted person couldn't be blamed, they can and addicts who want to get healthy blame themselves all the time.

Gambling addiction is very bad, it can completely destroy the gambler, so it is good to gamble with discipline, as a result of which one can control one's emotions and greed and maintain self-control over oneself and protect oneself from big losses, as well as keep oneself free from gambling addiction. An addicted gambler can easily do any heinous thing to arrange money, so it is very important to always be aware and gamble.

The man is not just an addicted gambler; he’s selfish, and even if not just in gambling, he could have spent all that money on other people's things. It's a reminder to know the type of person you will settle for as a lifetime partner in case of situations like this where the person will only be the one at the right position to help.
Very very important but the crazy thing is that some of these acts don't actually show up from the onset when the two are dating as sometimes the habits are concealed by the partner and later found out when the person have gone beyond repair. Addiction is one crazy thing but what the husband did beyond it, I mean the health of his patner is not something that you just toy with but like you said, I feel his selfish nature clouded his judgement at the time of carrying out his actions.

But I do not know the reason someone will be keeping money with another person and think he can trust the person. Life is not like that. Keep you money yourself.
Experience is the best teacher, you will never know until it happens to you, there's no way to.live a life without trusting someone, in this scenario is her husband, there's no way she won't trust her husband with her money, the husband betrayed her trust and it will be hard for her to trust him with money again. It will hurt her for a while but the damage will never leave. People are something else, before trusting anyone be it your wife or husband, test them with money, if they can be try you with money, then they can betray your love. Gambling is a dangerous game for anyone that see it as a source of income and such person should be trusted with any fund meant for a serious business or medical care, they will surely use it to gamble. That's the area I will blame the wife, if she knew the husband was a gambler and she still went ahead to save money in his hand.

It is very terrible to see the ill treatments loved ones take from problem gamblers, in as much as they're not in control of their actions, learning to curb and take action on the first sign of it should be the priority of every spouse, now the woman's case will be more critical, emotionally she'd be broken.

Yes there are numerous stories of an addicted gamblers betraying there loved ones just to gamble. There is this incident that happens in my place a man sold his house and use the money to gamble. Unfortunately for him he lost the money and out of frustration he committed suicide. There is one that was selling the wife belongings and used the money to gamble. Addiction is something that enslaved people to the point that they can't control there own actions. The man the op talked about is an addicted gambler and as such he has lost control of his actions.

I've seen lies. Well, it's almost betrayal, too. I have seen friends lie to their wives just so they can keep on gambling. It's not really robbing from their wives because it is their salary, but they always keep some amount for their gambling problems and will just give what is left, promising that it is the only salary they received. Yeah, I think it's also betrayal. Many of my friends love gambling on cockfighting, and I don't even understand why they get addicted to it. They will sneak some money from their salary so they can gamble in the cockpit and go home a loser, most of the time. I have also seen people lying to their spouse just because they are either stealing from them or trying to hide their gambling activities from them. some gamblers like you mentioned that Stake on cockfighting cannot really do such openly because they are scared of how they will be seen by others. Gambling addiction is a terrible state to be in and a lot of them that are affected this way don't really care abou the situation because all they are concerned about is gambling.

The judge also ordered Hartford Insurance, the backer of the fiduciary bond issued when the man was named his wife’s conservator, to pay the victim $300,000, for which the company may seek reimbursement from the husband. Some times I wonder if people do such things trying to double up the money for helping out or they just do it with ungodliy intentions. Because to me, it just doesn't make much sense why a responsible human being, would not think about other important things available to do with money but rather spend the money ment for his personal needs and that of his family on gambling. I think he got the right punishment because this is a case of health. Having once body part incapacitated requires alot of care to prevent that part of the body from being infected and spreading cancer all over the body. Couldn't the man had done better than what he did? It showed that he never did love his wife because if he did, he would have thought twice before wasting that care money...

This kind of thing is very sad to read, that is how gambling addiction can be. It will make the situation to be in a way that people will blame the person bout they are both victims of something. It will start from little, like saying he will only use small amount from the money to gamble, but gradually he will spend more and later spend all the money, thinking one day that he will make money from gambling.
But I do not know the reason someone will be keeping money with another person and think he can trust the person. Life is not like that. Keep you money yourself.
We have a saying in our country: "Husband and wife are one Satan." The meaning of this proverb is that spouses should be like-minded in both good and bad deeds. They should never betray each other.🙋 A friend of mine likes to say: "If you don't trust your wife, it means you haven't learned how to choose the right life partner." Ideally, you should trust your spouse completely in financial matters. Therefore, the story of how the husband lost money intended for his wife's treatment gambling seems monstrous to me. It shouldn't be like that! At the same time, I realize that gambling addiction is essentially a mental illness. A gambling addict has no control over themselves. Therefore, this man could even deceive himself, convincing himself that he was about to win a huge amount of money and take care of his wife's well-being. Of course, this is utter nonsense.💁

Gambling addiction is a very big problem, which can lead someone to many different bad acts. That is why everyone involved in gambling should do everything possible to avoid becoming addicted. I have seen so many sad and touching news stories about gambling addiction, such as people turning to stealing, taking loans they cannot pay back and even committing suicide because of the problems gambling has put them into. It is always very sad to see what gambling addiction is turning many people into. The problem is that, despite many people seeing these sad stories about gambling addiction, some still believe gambling is a way to change their lives for the better, and that mindset can easily lead to addiction.

Do you have a story of betrayal caused by addiction to gambling? And what can be said about a man like that? For one thing, the word "man" hardly applies to him at all. He’s a "spineless wimp" with neither a conscience nor honor-just a thirst to satisfy his primitive needs. And don’t try to tell me he was "trying to win a lot of money to provide for his wife". He’s a very petty and despicable person if he committed such an act. This isn’t about gambling, it’s about the man himself, who is capable of such despicable acts. Even if there were no gambling, he would undoubtedly have had other weaknesses-he would have "blown" that money on something else.

The truth is that gambling addiction can make you do what you never imagined, gambling addiction can make you spend the fund you never wished to spend. Everyone may be blaming the husband for using a fund meant for his wife health care for gambling, without knowing that the man may have tried his possible best to make sure he didn't use it, but as an addict, it is very difficult for them to see money without using it. They feel that the money is just wasting when it could have yield profit id gambled with, when they know that all that are just mealy assumption.

This is a very sad story. Gambling is actually a place where when someone starts gambling and keeps losing, a lot of emotions are created in him and he wants to recover his losses in any way. And because of this he does not understand how he is slowly losing a lot of money there. So it is always advisable to gamble with a fixed budget while gambling and always maintain that limitation. Always keep yourself mentally prepared to stay within that limit so that the money he has lost does not hurt him much and he has the ability to lose it.
This did not happen to me, but I also became quite addicted to gambling and I spent all my money and took a loan from the bank to gamble. I even had to sell some of my wife's jewelry to pay off the bank loan. Since then, I have been very careful about gambling. However, I still gamble, but very carefully.

This guy might have thought that there is no point in spending money on someone he might have thought won’t make it, forgetting the fact that the money was for her health care and not his personal use. How be he even spent the money, bought a van and claimed it’s for the wife’s transportation, and yet no sign of the van being fit for such was found.
The man is not just an addicted gambler; he’s selfish, and even if not just in gambling, he could have spent all that money on other people's things. It's a reminder to know the type of person you will settle for as a lifetime partner in case of situations like this where the person will only be the one at the right position to help.
If he had thought that the wife would die due to the injuries, is gambling the best place to spend the money? Addiction can make someone lose their sense of reasoning, so they can make selfish decisions. I am pleased that the woman would get some of the money back. He wouldn't have been put in charge of such an amount if they knew he was addicted to gambling. Do you have a story of betrayal caused by addiction to gambling?
There is this story of a woman who used her son as collateral for the credit she got from a physical betting platform. Gamblers could go to any length to satisfy the huge urge to gamble https://saharareporters.com/2022/09/30/nigerian-woman-abandons-4-year-old-child-gambling-shop-collateral-after-huge-losses

Simply just greed man, thats all. Because if it is not greed why would you use money that is not yours to gamble? That's just greed and obviously the wife has been grinding hard to get that money and the husband was just giving it away to the house. Like even Medicare funds? I don't think the man really loved his wife like that sha and indeed it is good that justice is served but yeah that man is heartless.

I want to agree with you when you said he's heartless for using his wife care fund to gamble, that is to show how gambling addiction makes people to do crazy things. I think he must have exhausted his bankroll maybe there is no way to fund his bankroll, then he had to use his wife care fund to fund his account with the hope of replacing it back. Forgetting that it is a game of chance there is no guarantee of wining, I must say that the husband is such an idiot. Do you have a story of betrayal caused by addiction to gambling?
No! But I have heard similar story before here in the forum. Even though someone is addicted to gamble there are some situation they need to apply self control so as to avoid bringing more problems to themselves.

Those who is addicted on gambling can never be trusted with money. A friend of mine was going to done operation for her mother tomorrow and he collected all the necessary money for it eventually he gambled it and lost. He wouldn't usually make bets or gamble that much. But that time he did for pursuing to cover his losses . It was a full disaster.
And what what his excuse , you will be shocked after lean it. He wanted to make some more money from it and treat her mother im better hospital with care. I felt so sorry for his mother. Although the operation wear a success . He needee to go through lot of things to collect another fund for the operation.

I guess that I've seen all of the worst things that a gambling addict can do. In my local country, there are various stories of people who have spent their wealth due to addiction, and none of their family members are aware of it. And some are employees of corporations, and they've got access to the funds of the company, and they also spend it. We have seen all of these potential things that a gambling addict can do. On this particular story, so many funds and maybe for retirement and life savings have been spend but as the court orders it will be reimbursed but what if the husband admits that he can't pay that? and he's totally bankrupt.
