This is a sad story but it's something that happens with a lot of people and even worse things happens to others,it just tells you how dangerous gambling addiction is. There are men that even steal from their spouse just so they can fund their gambling addiction. Being addicted to gambling feels like a mind control because gamblers that get affected this way find it difficult to be in control of themselves.
This is the problem with being addicted as you would not know how you wasted your money gambling and this can cause problem between two spouse. An addict only cares about himself hence his spouse or her spouse will be the one being affected in such a situation. There are many reports of gambling addict betraying their spouse but most time I always think the spouse is the one that allowed this to happen because if you observe carefully, you can identify a gambler from the way he behaves as soon as they start getting addicted. There are little things he does and you should be able to identify that he has begin to change hence it becomes a duty for you to observe your spouse to know if they are making use of the money meant for the family wisely.

I have seen worse cases than this, where a man, unable to afford gambling, sold his wife to a brothel. Also, a son stole his mother's long-spent money and gambled. Many such cases are happening around us. So gambling addiction not only causes economic damage, it can also destroy people's morality, sense of responsibility and family trust. In this case, the husband's biggest crime is not just losing money, but also using the money allocated for his sick wife for his gambling addiction and abusing her trust. So, addiction should not reach such a level that it destroys a person's humanity.

Gambling addiction often damages more than just finances like your wife and the trust your relationship is built on. But it can be said about this for almost every other addiction.

The thing here is that, addicted gambler will betray any body and the wife has failed to assess the level of her husband's level of financial management and gambling involvement, the risk with gambling addicts is that once they betray in their handling of money the don't care about the impact on their close relatives and those who trusted them.
The sick spouse handover her health care funds with the irresponsible husband, who could not be trusted even in dear conditions putting fun ahead of family needs.

Addiction not only damages a person's finances but also their mental and emotional well-being. In many cases, it can even be life-threatening if their gambling needs are not met. Warnings like this are needed for those who feel they are a serious gambling addict, so they can at least understand the purpose of what is being discussed in this thread.

That’s correct, gambling addiction is capable of completely destroying a person’s life, and that’s one thing that makes it extremely dangerous. Some people believe that it’s just all about losing money, and that the moment they run out of money they’ll be fine, which is a very huge misconception, because gambling addiction not only steals your money, but also your time and your life completely.

When someone is seriously addicted to gambling it can lead to madness. The disadvantages of gambling is much greater than it advantages especially if a gambler unknowingly get addicted to it. Family are meant to make financial decisions together to encourage and ensure proper financial management. A responsible person will think of his family first before even thinking of gambling. There are duty and obligation upon every family and betrayal is one of the greatest things that can kill a marriage.

I've seen lies. Well, it's almost betrayal, too. I have seen friends lie to their wives just so they can keep on gambling. It's not really robbing from their wives because it is their salary, but they always keep some amount for their gambling problems and will just give what is left, promising that it is the only salary they received. Yeah, I think it's also betrayal. Many of my friends love gambling on cockfighting, and I don't even understand why they get addicted to it. They will sneak some money from their salary so they can gamble in the cockpit and go home a loser, most of the time. I think that's a bit different, and definitely better than what this guy did to his wife because he was literally using the funds that were supposed to be used for his wife's treatment which is the worst thing one can do as a husband, but when it comes to using a portion of your salary for gambling and not letting your wife know about it isn't that big of a problem, especially if you know that your wife doesn't like it when you gamble, but you know that you are not irresponsible and you have a fixed budget for your activities and you like doing it, so there is no harm in that. Of course, it will be better if you can convince her about it and then you won't have to hide anything, but it's still not that big of a deal. I personally believe that you don't always need to let everyone know about whatever you do, especially when it comes to gambling, because a lot of people don't see gambling as a good thing, and if they come to know that you gamble, they would never assume or think that you are probably doing it just for fun or doing it responsibly, but they will think that you are probably spending most of the money you earn on gambling, and because of this, if something bad happens, and you face financial problems, they will instantly blame your gambling activities for it.

Addiction to gambling can betray your loved one; it's hard to imagine the husband spending his wife's care funds on gambling at casinos. As her husband, it is his duty to ensure the funds entrusted to him are used for her medical needs, but instead, he gambles them away. The husband of a police officer who was incapacitated after being shot in the line of duty has been found by an Alabama probate judge to have misused his wife’s care funds, including spending substantial amounts at Mississippi casinos. It's very shameful of them that looses trust's from their love ones all because of gambling. I've also witnessed some gamblers who're proudly of their gambling addictions, when it comes to entrusting funds in their custody, they'd tell you from the bottom of their mind that they'd use the money for gambling. They're very shameless to even have the insight about how they're destroying their own reputations all just to satisfy their gambling urges. With a lot being happening in the space, I'm not surprised about this unpleasant news.

Actually, many such incidents happen and it is possible for a person addicted to gambling to do such an incident. Gambling is a very serious addiction. If a person becomes addicted to gambling, then that person is no longer a normal person, he becomes an abnormal person. However, it is very good to hear that this person has been given a fair trial. The relationship between husband and wife should be very sweet. If their relationship was very sweet, then maybe the husband would not have done such a thing. I think there was not a very good match between their husband and wife, due to which the husband used the money for his wife's treatment to gamble and especially forced this person addicted to gambling to do such a heinous act. However, I think this husband should be severely punished. If there is a severe punishment, maybe many people will improve from here.

I have met with someone like this, it is not very close, but I have heard the story from my wife, and she heard it from her friend etc, so it is not close but we know the deal. A guy, who spent his entire salary, and even took out so much loan, like nearly 4 months of entire salary worth of loan, just to gamble. They were so much in deep shit that it turned out to be something that families of both sides got together to pay off, so it didn't ended up being something large, but it did hurt the marriage a lot.
We should realize that we can't really blame the person at all times, because when I say this, you all blamed the guy right? I know the full story, full story is that, his wife is from a family that lived a decent life, and his family is also from a decent life, so they assumed they would have a decent life.
In reality, he is just a young guy who is trying to make some money, but since his wife wanted her old life, like 5 vacations a year, brand new phone every year, bags, shoes etc. He couldn't afford that, sure both sides have rich parents, but those are parents, dude at 65 years old could be rich, dude at 30 is not. So he failed to provide what wife wanted, and thought if he could gamble and win, then he could maybe provide that and be rich. It was a stupid mistake, but he did not do it out of nothing, he did it because his wife kept pressuring him to find more money. I am pretty sure they are going to get divorced soon because neither are good for each other.

Gambling addiction can betray everybody: your wife, parents and even your own children, because they are blinded by their belief that as long as they have money to play, they can recover their losses; they just need to continue playing, so they cannot stop; they are in perpetual motion of wanting money to play, and they don't care where they got it. They forgot the word trust and their responsibility; this is how dangerous addiction is: you will become a totally different person.

This kind of thing is very sad to read, that is how gambling addiction can be. It will make the situation to be in a way that people will blame the person bout they are both victims of something. It will start from little, like saying he will only use small amount from the money to gamble, but gradually he will spend more and later spend all the money, thinking one day that he will make money from gambling.
But I do not know the reason someone will be keeping money with another person and think he can trust the person. Life is not like that. Keep you money yourself.
Gambling addiction can change people negatively. It doesn’t start with big problems. Most times, it begins with little bets and the belief that I can recover everything once I win. Before the person will even know what’s happening, the addiction has begin to control him and he may end up using money that doesn’t belong to him just because he believe that one big win can settle everything. If someone entrusted you with their money, it’s your duty for you to protect that money not to use it to gamble. The owner of the money is a victim because he lose what belongs to him, while the gambler too is a victim of addiction if it has reach that stage. As for keeping money under someone trust is really important, but trust doesn’t mean that we should throw away caution. Unless it’s a person who has a genuine reason to help you keep the money, like when it comes to security or emergency purpose. If not it’s better to keep your own money where only you can control it. It will reduce temptation and avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. Money can change people negatively especially when they’re battling with financial pressure or gambling addiction.

Good intentions are gradually corrupted by gambling. The danger of misuse to gratify oneself by converting another person into money is there when the money of another person is taken in hand. Holding personal assets in your hand is much safer as opposed to letting somebody who is under pressure to access your assets. The safety of personal property must be made the priority to eliminate significant issues.

Those who is addicted on gambling can never be trusted with money. A friend of mine was going to done operation for her mother tomorrow and he collected all the necessary money for it eventually he gambled it and lost. He wouldn't usually make bets or gamble that much. But that time he did for pursuing to cover his losses . It was a full disaster.
And what what his excuse , you will be shocked after lean it. He wanted to make some more money from it and treat her mother im better hospital with care. I felt so sorry for his mother. Although the operation wear a success . He needee to go through lot of things to collect another fund for the operation.
The incident that happened to your friend is really painful. Hearing such incidents shows that gambling addiction is really a bad habit. Addicted gamblers cannot control their emotions. So, they get involved in gambling at any time and cannot differentiate between necessary and unnecessary money. Gambling addiction has taken a gambler to such a point that he does not hesitate to lose even the money he kept for his mother's treatment. A gambler never wants to lose his money. To recover the money, they keep gambling again and again. But they forget that gambling is not a place to earn money. So, they forget that to recover half the money, they have to lose more.

Every penny seems to be very attractive for gambling once one is addicted to it. The urge to gamble doesn't allow addicted gamblers to think about the consequences of using money that is not supposed to be spent on gambling for betting. There is one common mindset that every addict normally has: there is this expectation of winning with every bet, which is why an addict can continue to gamble until all the money is gone. People even go to the extent of gambling with their school fees, which relates to their personal lives, and this shows that gambling with someone else's money won't be a concern either. Addiction is dangerous because it makes addicts fail to consider the risks and the repercussions of spending money on bets that are not meant for gambling.

When it has gotten to the level where no self control in anything one is doing it can be called addiction. This people set unrealistic goals or targets for them selfs that even lead them into more trouble than when when they have not become addicted. When you try to help this set of people they then see you as an intruder or enemy of progress, pock nosing into there private matter. In there overall mind and intuition, they also believe that with continues gambling one day there luck will shine.

It's so sad to tell that because of gambling addiction, husband has prioritized his gambling addiction first before taking care of his sick wife and ensuring that her funds should only be used according to its real purpose, and not for anyone's purpose even him.
I guess that's how gambling addiction is life threatening and dangerous, that you don't even know yourself anymore because you are completely deceived that gambling will be the key answer to your life's problems, even promise you to get rich quick with it.
