Gold reserves are their cash especially when every other asset value is subject to disruption and their largest trading partner is the worlds largest gold importer, it kinda works for them. Plus Russia is the worlds largest country, they have a large amount of untapped gold, platinum, oil and gas. Investment from a country that has neglected its oil and gas for decades seems unlikely, has neglected development and has put a million of its young men to their deaths. Investment would not reflect prior moves or likely strategy going forward in any asset. The strength of a nation is always its people and also its greatest returns on investment so they have been doing the opposite for many years.

The cost to fund Russia's war is very expensive. It's draining their country and they have to sold their gold to push their economy not to face terrible deficit. Recently, they're even trying to sell their diamond to raise more cash as well. So it's proving how their decision to sold their gold has no correlation with decline happened with the gold. Also 5.6b raised from gold is nothing compared to the more than 500b daily volume of gold across the world. So it's non sense to assume this dump has something to do with the decline happened with gold. Beside that the correction happened in gold is just a common situation for an asset that's already recorded new all time high.

If you follow political news regularly, especially the war between Russia and Ukraine. You would know that they are almost certainly selling gold to cover the budget deficit and keep funding the war they are involved in, not for some other reason or purpose. However, the fact that they have to sell gold also shows that their economy is under quite a lot of pressure. As for their gold sales and the impact on the market, I think it's basically a mosquito bite on steel. The amount of gold they're selling is tiny compared to the trading volume and market size of gold.

Don't forget that the sale was made internally, i.e., to local Russian banks. This makes the impact, if it occurs, limited to Russia only and does not extend to become a global impact on gold. Of course, the fact the transaction was done off the global market makes me understand that Russia understood that if they have made such announcements before selling then it would have affected the value they got when they sold. As they kept the transaction internally then it'll not have any significant impacts on the global price of gold. Gold is an established and high class assets that'll always make you money in the future so we shouldn't be expecting the price to decline any time soon. Gold is an asset that every government is looking to get their hands on and that's probably why the Russians didn't allow it go off shores of their country as they can always buy it back and maybe by an already pre determined buy back price.

No, gold isn't headed for a crash. Putin isn't playing 4D chess to short the top of the precious metals market; he's just paying the invoice for last month's artillery shells.
If anything, a government being forced to sell its strategic reserves just to keep the lights on is bullish for gold and bitcoin. Keep stacking.

Some new information came out recently showing China increased their monthly purchases of gold by 10x over the previous year. The amount of gold purchased in July 2026 was 2.6bn apparently with similar amounts in the months prior. This giant increase has reversed the decline in the gold market since the start of the Gulf war which has seen the affected states liquidating their reserves to make up a fiscal short fall from the missing oil revenues.
Some speculate China is buying in an ideal scenario of forced sellers, the idea being this creates a false low or tradable buy that does not diminish long term prospects for the gold market. Others are more negatively looking at China using the gold in a future war or campaign that would subject them to sanctions similar to Russia's strategy, buying now to continue trading outside of the dollar system.
China has been known to threaten almost every country in the region declaring the 'China sea' to now be part of China due to the unfortunate naming apparently justifying war for territory aided by gold funding. I do not think the war aspect is happening just now if ever as per capita China has far less gold then France for example, they would remain greatly affected even if they are the worlds largest producer.

If we are not careful, then gold market could mean a lot more than gold market and we would be the losers. Gold going down would be not an easy thing to handle, because what you do not see is that, gold is not just an asset to buy and hold so that you profit, gold is actually used, like the biggest use right now would be that every chip you see has it, every PC you ever owned has it, yes very tiny amounts, but imagine how many of them are built every day.
So yeah, gold price going down, means that the demand/supply ratio is being off. Not much gold being sold to those PC companies? Means they are not building a lot, if they were building a lot, price wouldn't crash, if they are not building more, that means the yare trying to sell what they have instead, which would mean more expensive prices for us.

Even though the prices of gold has been declining ever since gold reached their highest price level many months ago, I think gold are still a great form of investment especially for investors who seeks to create a diversified portfolio across all different types of investment. With the war in Iran still at a stalemate and the war spreading across to other middle east countries. The gold market are still a good alternative choice to invest some money into it as once the prices of oil starts to drop after the war ends, the gold market might stand to benefits from it.

gold has been a great form of investment for many decades, and it is still a top choice and plays an important role in many investors' portfolios. gold has never lost its appeal, even after Bitcoin emerged as some people claim. especially during periods of economic or geopolitical uncertainty, gold has remained a top choice for many investors looking to preserve the value of their asset. like any other asset, gold also has its cycle, and what's happening now is simply a correction after its strong rally.

Based on what I have been seeing regarding good performance is over the time, there is no retrograde, it has always been raising and surging high, making it to all time high, even as at present, you will discover that one of the most profitable physical assets you could invest upon is gold, I am not talking about cryptocurrency here I'm only referring to physical assets, so I don't think good is going on a decline yet until we are done with the season and the market falls for others to have a suitable entry.

It is the most logical thing to do for a country like China without a doubt. For two main reasons that nobody can deny, even if you hate China, you can't deny that they are making the right move for themselves. First of all, they want to have less dollars, there are already so much dollar debt for them, and the yare trying to get rid of those, and they are owed trillions of dollars for all the things they manufactured, they do not want to have dollar at hand on top of that, they want to get rid of it, the debt alone would be enough, so zero dollars in cash would be fine, just debt could suffice. Secondly, the price of gold dropped a lot compared to last year; that means we are going to see them getting gold for cheap compared to last year. So when you combine these, why get dollars or anything else? Just get rid of those and keep on getting gold all the time; they are increasing for now, of course, in the future maybe they won't, but they are doing a good job for themselves.

Russia's budget deficit stood at about 6.5 trillion rubles in a span of seven months. Oil and gas revenues fell by approximately 17% year-on-year. The expectations for GDP growth were cut from more than 2% to essentially flat. Some quarters even showed contraction. This economy is spending itself into a war.
And that is exactly what the gold sale is. It is not a signal about gold's future price. It is a warning of Russia's financial state now. They sold into the domestic market (to Russian banks, settled in rubles and yuan). They are literally unable to access international markets. Since 2022, half their foreign reserves are still frozen in Western institutions. The only asset which is literally there in Moscow and can be liquidated without anyone's consent is gold. So they are spending the furniture.

That gold has performed well over the long haul has been particularly true of times of inflation, economic uncertainty and geopolitical tension. But there's a rule that a great uptrend doesn't imply the price tag can not have a huge drop. Profit taking and expectations regarding changing interest rates could easily lead to a temporary drop, especially when profits are at repeated all-time highs. I believe the more important issue is whether or not any dip is standard correction or a possible start of a longer term downtrend.

That is not true, don't fall for easy misinformation. If you look at the data and depending on the source, this deficit presents about 2.5 to 3 % of their yearly GDP and if they continue this way they will have a deficit of 5 to 6% for this year. You can be easily manipulated that this shows that it is the end of time for them, and only because you don't look at the data of other countries. Here is the deficit of some other countries with the help of ChatGPT: United States 7.5% GDP France 5% GDP China 4% GDP UK 4-5% GDP Germany 3-4% GDP So if you see, Russia is operating right now how other countries are operating without being in any kind of war or under significant sanctions. You could claim that this is related to the war but you need to have evidence that proves it or data that proves that they are in a horrible financial position, but there is not such thing. When you compare countries, you always use a relative comparison because you can easily draw false conclusions. If one country is having a recession that is bad, but if everyone is in a recession then it is a whole story and much less worse. I don't know if the gold price is going to fall, but it has been manipulated strongly in recent times from many parties that are involved just like silver. Usually they create cycles with which the big guys create situations where the little guys end up the exit liquidity and they manipulate them to buy once prices start rising rapidly.

The gold market has declined a lot because many people were high in the past, so those who invest in it will definitely be able to make the highest profit after holding it for a long time. The war situation in Iran has put the country's economic situation in a state of arrest, because the huge increase in oil prices due to the war in Iran has also created an energy crisis in the country. So when this situation is over, the gold market will definitely rise, so it will be possible to take profits at that time, so in the current situation, an alternative system has been created for investing in gold to take profits.

I’m interested in the opinion of this esteemed community-is this an indicator that the gold market is poised for a decline? After all, there are no other logical explanations for why a stable and growing economy would “dump” such large volumes of gold without being certain that gold prices won’t fall in the near future! What do you think?
No one can be so certain why the Russian government will have to sell that amount of gold, maybe they want to seel and invest in another asset like Bitcoin being the digital money, or maybe they want to use it for economic growth of the country instead of taking loan from neighboring countries. Something has to be the reason. Talking about dump, selling this number of gold can not dump the market because Gold market hardly shake onlike Bitcoin market. Maybe something is going on that no one knows about. Russia selling their Gold reserve is as a result of the deficit incurred by heavy military spending for the war in Ukraine and also more likely their decline in the revenue generated from poor oil and gas export. But since the sell is done internally and Russia not been most ranked Gold holders their sell might not have full impact on the market. I don't know how this might affect the Russian economy but I believe Putin should have things in place to help curb the pressure this might pose on their economic growth.

Given that, according to official data, the budget deficit for the first half of the year exceeded the planned ANNUAL budget deficit by more than 30%, and spending on the war on terror continues to rise, it’s unlikely they’re using this money for anything other than funding the war and supporting the military-industrial complex. Don’t look for a complicated explanation when there’s a simple one.

That is not true, don't fall for easy misinformation. ..... To see this for yourself, just listen to the speeches by Elvira Sakhipzadovna Nabiullina. And take a look at the financial reports. Those figures are cited there, and she herself has highlighted the challenges that already exist and will arise in the future. Plus, we must remember that after 2022, "Russia’s thriving economy", or more precisely, many of its indicators, were unexpectedly classified, including many indicators of economic quality. There were also two instances where the logic behind the calculation of key indicators was distorted in order to soften their results. And of course, the icing on the cake is what’s called "newspeak" - new expressions that clearly avoid mentioning negative trends. For example, this is now often used in official channels to conceal the real situation. Read the real examples—what do you think of how the information is presented? Negative growth / Negative dynamics -a decline in economic indicators or a drop in GDP. Price correction / Price change - an increase in the cost of goods and tariffs. Workforce reduction - employee layoffs or staff cuts. Structural restructuring / Transformation - an economic crisis caused by sanctions and isolation. Parallel imports - the import of foreign goods into the country without the rights holder’s permission (legalized gray imports). By analogy, in another field, when Russian oil refineries were damaged, this was described as "rapid oxidation of hydrocarbons with the release of thermal energy"

I agree with you, Gold is one of the best physical investment to do, Gold has been in existence for so many years and it has been so relevant and very important to the society, and those who have been investing in Gold has not regret doing that. Even when we compare Bitcoin to Gold, majority of those who are investing in both will still not throw away their gold just because of Bitcoin, they will rather hold and continue with the two because the two are very important and none is more important than the other for now. Yeah Gold won't decline yet. 348Judah check and make some corrections in your writing.
