According to AI, there will be some opening matches which will be played in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, to celebrate the one hundred years of the World Cup. After those opening matches are played then the rest of the tournament will take place in Morocco, Portugal and Spain.

Needless to say, it seems the FIFA does not longer believe in the former format of a single country hosting the World Cup, they seem to have a plan in the long term to make these events a global happening, instead of just allowing a single country to take it all. I have not gotten accustomed to it.

FIFA seems to want at all costs to ruin the known football, which people like because it is traditional, too many changes will only lead to a decline in attention which will cost them dearly, again in my opinion, for 100 years of the World Cup there could be the idea of playing a bit around the world.

If they are doing this it is because they are making am insane amount of money out of it, don't you think? It has already revealed they made an insane amount of money with the triple Mexico-USA-Canada world cup of this year. If they would have not gotten as much money as they did, they would have considered to come back to the previous format, but it seems that is not going to happen anytime soon.

Let us see if they actually do something memorable for the first hundred years of this tournament, or if it falls short to our expectations. I would like at least to see Venezuela participating... Dreaming is free.

(...)

For me it was the worst World Cup since i was born, i really saw a decline in interest compared to other years, as a child i wanted to follow every single match because football gave emotions, football was competitive and beautiful to see and imagine, today we are forced to see a football where if the president of America calls him an infant, he does him the favour..

There has been so much controversy at this World Cup, as it goes on, i see that soccer is no longer what unites us, but rather what divides fans. In this regard, FIFA has also failed, in fact, many people hate or sharply criticize their performance. Especially since the World Cup was held in the United States, so many decisions were made based on politics or more accurately political interference. Hopefully, the next World Cup will be better.

Well, if there are going to be so many host countries already predefined, it means that FIFA actually as the intention to allow more countries to participate, by adding more slots/more room.

We may not like this new format, but financially it seems to be working for the FIFA, and we all know money moves the world.

Also, I have a personal theory... FIFA could be embracing this new format in order to avoid accusations of corruption, it would more difficult for anyone to prove FIFA officials got bribed, if theare several hosting nations, instead of a single nation.

In 2026 worldcup we see alot of influence from the politicians side. If you remember the balogun red card issue Trump request to Fifa and they cancelled the red card. Haha Its was shocking to see rule is a rule and if you don't follow the rule there is no more good football. US people call it soccer they don't even know the name of this beautiful sports Huh. But I don't know why Fifa give the main Hosting to USA. Everyone know the main Reason. But I don't want to expose Fifa here.
That detail is what has caused so much discomfort in world football. I've seen news reports from UEFA, which are having serious problems with FIFA. I think they want to legalize the level of corruption. Something must be done to stop this kind of thing from continuing. Electing a president like that was FIFA's biggest mistake. Before, there was a president who was very corrupt, but this one now is about three times more corrupt.

Sincerely i don’t like this controversy surrounding this just concluded World Cup because it will make a lot of fans to lose interest in the credibility of the World Cup and football in general, my happiness is that Argentina did not eventually win else the controversy would have been worse, even this ballon d’Or if i were to be the FIFA president i wont give it to Messi but someone completely neutral so that the controversy would reduce. Football was one thing that united the entire world because it gave everyone the right of participation regardless of our color or race, let FIFA not allow this politicians and greed to destroy the sport, once there is always controversy in anything it potency will be lost.

Same here!  Tongue  I also don't like even the 48-team format and now FIFA is seriously planning to raise the number of teams participating to 64...

6 countries and 64 teams, you know what this means. How are they going to handle potential logistical problems for all those teams?

I guess that's why Infantino is planning to sell the organization to private investors. It's sad to see this transformation of the World Cup.

Although the matter will be a little congested, I will welcome this new format of FIFA. Because in the past, there was a kind of monopoly situation in FIFA tournaments where specific teams got the opportunity to play the FIFA World Cup every time and from among them there was a Cup winner.
But now I can see that situation getting a little far away, like this year Cape Verde, a small country, got the opportunity to participate in the FIFA tournament and at the same time, it also gave a lot of big strong teams a hard time. And at the same time, we also got to see a great goalkeeper like Vozinha.

But these would not have been possible if the FIFA tournament was limited to only six specific teams.

I think the number of host countries in a tournament has been increased so that there are no problems with logistics. And at the same time, I hope that in the future, many more countries like Cape Verde will make the FIFA tournament more interesting.

Before, there was a president who was very corrupt, but this one now is about three times more corrupt.
In my opinion, FIFA should not give any country or person more advantages in any decision due to political issues or personal relationships. The current FIFA president is more corrupt than the previous FIFA presidents, but there is no guarantee that the one who comes after him will be a good and honest person. When in such a big position, people naturally want to take advantage of extra privileges. Because his single decision can change many things. And in a world where the FIFA World Cup is popular, whoever gets the opportunity will try to take advantage. And in punishing a player or changing it, it should be done according to FIFA rules. If there are no such rules, then a new rule framework should be created by discussing it, changing a decision according to the opinion of a powerful person will really create criticism among the fans.  Sports i a way for people's entertainment. Here, it is the responsibility of management to protect people's trust. No one has the right to do business with people's emotions. FIFA should understand this and make decisions accordingly. In particular, the rules should be equal for everyone and everyone should be given equal rights. And I hope that the World Cup should be hosted by countries that play football, have popularity in their countries and people's emotions and joy, and many other things are associated with football.

I completely agree with your opinion concerning this very concluded world cup that, was co hosted by Canada, the united states and Mexico. This world cup was known and will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, there was a lot of political that was mixed up with football which is not good.
Again some persons where picked to win the world cup, even before the start of the world cup and so games where played to favour such teams, it was written all over the tournament which caused many suspicion all over the world. And now we are seeing all manner of allegetion on the President of FIFA.
All these is due to the poor handling of the 2026 world cup which to me was destroyed by FIFA itself, for allowing Trump to control them the best world cup still remains the 2022 world cup which was hosted by Qatar.

I found it to be a decidedly male-organised world championship, with little following and very sad. This can be seen from when Japan had to change the training pitch three times, or from the many small problems that were encountered during the various matches. It's definitely the worst World Cup i can remember to date.

Exactly this World Cup was much based on political gathering like Trump only used this world cup for his own view. A lot of decision has been taken so wrongly wether it's from the referee or it's for the FIFA. After this World Cup I think I should need to stop watching this bullshit because Football is the name of love and unity and to be honest in this world cup we didn't even seen any good moment. Everyone is just dive in for criticism and try to make more controversial topics and even blaming the players whi just make the football beautiful......

FIFA is just slowly losing his quality especially in this World Cup they overshadowed the tournament with so many controversial issues. Even now the fans is also rising the hate and calling it a unfair decision although Football is the name of unity. FIFA need to think about this criticism....??

These words are absolutely true. From my little knowledge, I understand that the 2026 World Cup has been criticized a lot because FIFA has not been able to properly manage the game. If the rules and regulations of the World Cup are made, each team has to follow them properly. There can be no influence from politicians here. If the rules or the game are managed depending on the answer to Donald Trump words, then it can never be a disciplined game. Seeing the World Cup in 2026, various kinds of buts have been born among the general people, so we have this expectation from FIFA that the 2030 World Cup will be a disciplined game.

This explains and makes us understand perfectly how little the roots of football still have in America, where a president arrives and thinks that by asking for a courtesy, this courtesy can be carried out. On the other hand, Europeans or in any case those who follow football as the main sport in their country understand that it is something absolutely unacceptable.

When I saw the topic title, I thought I had misread it, turns out this topic really is about the 2030 WC competition, LOL. WC competition is being hosted by six countries, a first in WC history. Well, there's still plenty of time before this competition actually begins, at least Bitcoin (BTC) halving will happen first, good initiative @blue Snow.

To be honest, I don’t really like this format at all; I prefer the old format where a single country hosted the World Cup.
We already know that the first six teams to qualify are
Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Spain, Morocco and Portugal.
Six of them have qualified as host nations. I really don’t like it that way.

As far as I know, the 2030 World Cup will be held in six countries because it will be 100 years since the World Cup. Three additional host countries, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, will be added to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup in 1930. These three countries will only host the opening three matches with the remaining matches being played in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal. So, I think this format will only be implemented for the 2030 World Cup, but the 2034 World Cup will be held as usual.

It's just that I don't like the additional countries participating in this World Cup. 64 countries isn't a small number, and while FIFA profits will increase due to the increased number of matches, I don't think the quality of the World Cup will be the same as before. Every match from the group stage to the final, always presents intense and exciting matches. But when there are many participating countries in the group stage many weak teams will become the target for the strong countries, and of course this makes the match less interesting and even less intense.

The spending on the World Cup in Qatar was enormously excessive simply because it was hosted in a country that didn't even have the stadiums to play. He literally had to build them from scratch in a very short time so that the World Cup could be held there. Those in America, on the other hand, were more forced, as if out of an interest in the return of money rather than a real interest in sport.

I don't know for other people but I like the new system of FIFA hosting the world cup in different countries, it makes sense to me because the world cup is a tournament where many countries will participate, therefore 3 or more countries being a host will help bring good vibes and perhaps, countries that haven't hosted the world cup before can become lucky.

I like the diversification that is happening in the world cup and i think new football rules was added too, the world is evolving, therefore things need to happen differently from the way it has been accustomed to us for many years. Since FIFA successfully hosted the 2026 world cup in 3 countries, they can continue with that experiment in the upcoming world cup.

Such a move will play an important role in increasing the popularity of football. The number of participating teams in recent World Cups and the number of matches is also increasing, so it is now necessary to increase the number of venues in organizing the World Cup. Since it is difficult to prepare so many venues in one country, it is definitely wise to organize the World Cup in a joint hosting model. I enjoy these works and like to see the football culture of each country.

Another move by FIFA, although it is disliked by many, I like this move. Although a total of 48 teams participated in the last World Cup, plans are underway to organize the World Cup with a total of 64 teams in the upcoming World Cup. Although the group stage matches here are less interesting, some of us, such small countries, will show their strength and send the big teams away, as we saw in the recently concluded World Cup. Even the popularity and excitement of the World Cup will spread around the world.

Don't worry about it, FIFA has already exposed themselves in the past and they will continue to do so in the future, that is the nature of corruption, it never stays hidden forever.

Anyways, I personally did not like much the World cup in Qatar because, regardless of how much money got invested, there was much corruption and worker mistreatment by Qatar for the building of their stadiums.
It is already known Qatar paid in order to qualify to host the tournament and also keep workers living in sub-human conditions. It would be morally wrong to only highlight the positive things about that WC and not to acknowledge the negative side of it.

I also agree with what you are saying. The World Cup in Qatar was truly an abuse of power and almost slavery for poor workers forced to do forced labor and sleep on construction sites in order to reach the goal set by the rich. And that in America was obviously not the same, but due to a question of corruption, in my opinion, something is swept under the carpet.

Qatar Spend $23 billion on stadium and the rest of money they use to create a better transport and better infrastructure for fan and players they build the best hotel and top class metro for football fan arround the world. If you talk about the money they spend and the money Qatar spend there is huge difference. Qatar use most of the money on infrastructure . US , Canada, Mexico combine spend not that's much money on infrastructure and that's the real difference between the real football host and corrupt host.

It is true that the 64-team plan will give many smaller countries a chance at the World Cup, but will the quality of the game be the same as before?
Like you, I will be encouraged if the 64-team plan is implemented. But FIFA has not confirmed it yet. It will be quite exciting when the smaller teams beat the bigger teams. But I don't know why I feel that if the number of teams increases, the quality of the matches may not be the same as it is now. If the number of weak teams increases, most of the matches in the group stages may become boring.
