More Bitcoin Holders than Gold in America

I always feel the excitement whenever I see that there is more increase in Bitcoin adoption all over the world and people are showing more desperation to go for bitcoin the any other assets because of the various opportunities found under this decentralized digital network.

Everything about Bitcoin begins in 2009 and here we are today with massive adoption as the entire world are getting to discover more about bitcoin and gold cannot even stand the gap of the adoption rate people, institutions and corporate bodies are giving Bitcoin, I come across this information which gives the statistics that in America today, it was discover the rate at which their young adults are more in support of Bitcoin as investment asset to own over gold, I'm also confident that this will not only be limited to America alone but in many countries as well, where bitcoin is seen as a legal currency.

Repeat after me:
Not your keys, not your coins!

There are a total 49,289,213 addresses with more than $1 worth of satoshis, which is 14.11% of the population of the US, assuming we have only US users.
Also, I find it weird that only 10% would own gold, for god's sake, like half of the adult population has at least a wedding ring!

Edit, fixed % instead of $

I agree.

Also, that is the exact phrase which shows Bitcoin is worth more than gold as it is directly currency which will eventually become legal tender in the US second, I am guessing and once people realize that worldwide adoption by governments is happening, there will be a buying of coin we have never seen before.

Maybe they mean intended as an investment vehicle only? (in which case Bitcoin would still be better as it is both an investment vehicle as well as a widely accepted currency- with none of the faults of fiat).

I still would not trust a statistic too much until you have seen the source and data for yourself.

I feel weird too because gold has longer history than Bitcoin and the middle age and especially old generations are all familiar with gold and it's their most favorite asset.

I checked and the figure is the same in Gold ownership statistics.
According to this one, 10.8% of Americans have physical gold but if breaking down it to age groups, the assumption above is right as there are higher percents of Americans own gold with higher ages.

Weird graphics. How do they define "ownership"?

Is having a few sats on a CEX account "ownership"?

Is having jewellery "ownership"? Or gold "IOUs" from banks? Or tokenised gold like XAUt?

From what I see, whoever created this image has recently learned about engagement farming or not very honest viral marketing.

This is a spam. It is not related to the topic at all. This discussion is about how many bitcoin and gold users are in the United States. If you are comparing the prices of two assets, that is also wrong, what you can compare is marketcap which can make your post to be valid.

Another way of seeing why Bitcoin will gain value.
The complement to receptive to traditional investment vehicles, is receptive to modern investments vehicles, like Bitcoin:

So it would look more like-

potentially receptive to newer investment vehicles:
18 - 29: 82%
 30- 49: 78%
50 - 64: 73%
     65+: 69%

Old wealth will be handed over unto the younger generation, which is amazingly receptive to Bitcoin. The majority of those who are receptive to Bitcoin are definitely going to put that money into Bitcoin. By my reckoning, that is the main factor that will bring Bitcoin to $1 Million by 2030.

Maybe because there are other alternatives to gold for those who wed and most people may think they are getting sold gold but in all honesty they are sold something that is inferior to gold.
Why I believe right now Bitcoin is being owned my more people than gold especially the average person is the exclusive digital presence of Bitcoin. And that's not all the financial value Bitcoin brings to the table makes it more sorted out for.

To elaborate Bitcoin to many is an upgrade to the traditional financial system, many disadvantages faced from the traditional financial system Bitcoin has offered a solution and in general opens a big window of financial freedom to holders.

It terms of utilities Bitcoin edges gold that's why in my opinion Bitcoin should have more holders than Gold.

the rate at which their young adults are more in support of Bitcoin as investment asset to own over gold, I'm also confident that this will not only be limited to America alone but in many countries as well,
You are correct on that one. Younger generations are more interested in "fancy" investments rather than "traditional" ones in general. Not to mention acquiring bitcoin and storing it is somewhat easier than gold. They also don't need that much capital to enter.

However, I still don't take such statistics seriously. Their research tactics are usually flawed and very biased which makes their results unreliable. For example over the past years since gold has been soaring hard (from $1600 to $5000), the interest to invest in it has skyrocketed; that's a fact that contradicts the findings shown in this chart.

This seems like an update from last year though. I'm not criticising but it seems like I saw something related to this when reading through the bitcoin magazine application.
Cheers to the goverment and law makers making and implementing measures that are in support bitcoin growth in the United States otherwise, you will never see this increase in bitcoin accumulation and holdings. This particular report carried also indicates that there are more 35-41 holding and accumulating more than anyone. More significant numbers will most definitely come up with time. It is the same in El Salvador,  I expect people within to also have their bitcoin holding high up than any other assets. It is thanks to pro bitcoin measures.

There are more percent of people belong to younger generations than percent of older generations

This Bitcoin community engagement by age pie chart shows that but I don't stats there too seriously too. The figures are concentrated in ages from 25 - 44 with about 60.5% while the ages from 18 - 24 is almost similar to sum of two old age groups 45 - 54 and 55 - 64. These numbers show that the younger people are more interested and engaged in Bitcoin.

https://coin.dance/stats/age
18 - 24, 16,65%
25 - 34, 41.35%
35 - 44, 20.16%
45 - 54, 10.8%
55 - 64, 6.59%
65+, 4.45%

50 - 64: 27%
65+: 31%

Look  at the bottom of that stat:

Quote
Physical Gold (Bars & Coins)
Approximately 10.8% of Americans own physical gold. The most direct form of ownership, requiring secure storage.
Quote
Jewelry
The largest global category of gold ownership, though often not considered an 'investment' in the U.S.

10% of Americans own gold bars and coins, not jewelry!
And it's 10% excluding ETFs, IRAs, other stuff.

Maybe because there are other alternatives to gold for those who wed and most people may think they are getting sold gold but in all honesty they are sold something that is inferior to gold.

And how would a poll know that?
Like, seriously, you ask a guy on the phone if he owns gold and then decide if it's real or not by his answers?  Cheesy
You think they put people to measure its volume in water then weigh it jsut ofr this survey?

I always feel the excitement whenever I see that there is more increase in Bitcoin adoption all over the world and people are showing more desperation to go for bitcoin the any other assets because of the various opportunities found under this decentralized digital network.
~snip~

It makes no sense to me that someone would get excited about things that are more the result of targeted research aimed at causing the FOMO effect than the real situation. Those stories about Americans who seem to own the most BTC of all others, if we are talking about ordinary people, appear periodically, which can be verified by searching articles from 5-6 years ago.

If you want additional excitement, you should look for information on how many people own Bitcoin in India Roll Eyes

More Bitcoin Holders than Gold in America
A link to the source would help so we can at least read on how the statistics were collected.. right now, we can't confidently say that more Americans own Bitcoin than gold without knowing how the data was gathered. Was it based on a nationwide survey, a specific age group like others have said, or only people who actively invest? Those details matter because they can greatly affect the results.
I'm not saying it's impossible for Bitcoin to have such higher stats.. Bitcoin adoption has grown rapidly over the last few years especially among younger people ad many now see it as a better long term investment than gold. But then, gold has been owned for generations both directly and indirectly through jewelry, coins, bars, and investment products. Think about it, Because of that long history any claim that Bitcoin ownership has surpassed gold ownership should be backed by a reliable source and a clear explanation of the data.

If you want additional excitement, you should look for information on how many people own Bitcoin in India Roll Eyes
Or Nigeria? Smiley

More Bitcoin Holders than Gold in America

Of course, we’re happy to hear about Bitcoin adoption and usage dominating. But in this case, maybe we should know how they collected the data and the subjects until they came up with those numbers. Was the data obtained from users of centralized exchange platforms over there? Or from other sources?
It’s very likely that the data subjects are young people with an open understanding of Bitcoin. Because there are also many young people who are more interested in the stock market than in Bitcoin.

As the new generation gets older, there will be more Bitcoin holders. They don’t buy gold to invest, they buy Bitcoin.

I wonder about the same thing then I realised that OP was just talking about people who were holding bitcoin and gold as investment assets and not just who owned gold and who owned bitcoin because if that was the case the it will be very clear that gold will most likely beat bitcoin in that regard, this isn't verified information though, I'm just saying because wedding rings aside there are a whole lot of other jewellery types out there are and gold is arguably the material used for majority of the world's jewelry (also majority of America's jewellery as well) so there is a difference between people who are Holding for the purpose of the asset getting more valuable in the future snd those who just own snd are using them.
It is nice that bitcoin adoption is thi high though, i wish it was higher butvi suppose it's a gradual process, I'm still looking to an over 50% of the population adopting bitcoin for whatever reason.

I see the USA youth being so interested in Bitcoin positively. I don't think people in other countries would have such a mindset where they would give Bitcoin so much priority. There are enough reasons behind this. Other underdeveloped countries of the world keep dollars as their central bank and reserve. Their transactions are done in dollars in international business. And gold is also given a lot of importance by the government. Along with the dollar, gold is also kept as a reserve by the government. From there, the mindset of all those people becomes gold and dollar-centric from the beginning. Since in most cases they cannot reserve dollars, maybe due to policy problems in that country, in that case they use gold, land or apartment as an object of long-term investment and value retention. Most of them are unaware of the correct knowledge about Bitcoin and what kind of benefits they will get by holding it. But for the people of USA, the dollar is their own currency, they always find such an option that is more profitable than the dollar, will give much more value in the long run. In that case, they see gold and Bitcoin as options. And the youth prefer Bitcoin because of the high growth of Bitcoin in such a short time. In addition, since they are tech-enthusiastic, they are more interested in learning about Bitcoin. Also, after Trump came to power or if he is in power, people all over the world think positively about Bitcoin. And this becomes more influential for the people of USA. As a result, they have become more confident in Bitcoin, due to which people of USA are more investors in Bitcoin instead of gold.

But one thing that disappoints me is that although I see news of various positive regulations by the USA government about Bitcoin or crypto, no real action has been taken by them so far. And the USA government has not revealed anything about whether it has any bitcoin as a reserve. But the surprising thing is that they have made their currency internationally acceptable and from this they have kept about 8133 metric tons  of gold reserve. Considering this, the people of their country should be more interested in gold, but this is not happen there as a new generation they are holding bitcoin, investing in it this will be much more positive for bitcoin in the future.

Yeah but let's not forget people well to do prefer diamond rings and a couple others might use plated steel. Regardless I believe the statistics for gold is way low based on they aren't accounting for rings because it's pretty much like who the hell actually wants to sell their rings?

~snip
I think the thing is the premise of our current era. The average youngster today sees gold Hodling as an old school practice and they find bitcoin more conventional and more convenient. Not to mention in some countries gold is slightly more expensive unlike bitcoin with a universal price.
