This singular act of closing both casino accounts may become an issue later when OP begins to miss the fun of gambling because the day would come when boredom sets in and the only thing that might look like a good consolation is gambling.

If it was something that was harming you, it was a wise decision. Self-exclusion is a palliative measure, and if you are already prone to addiction and lack of control, nothing could prevent you from returning. Closing accounts is better because, to create a new one, you have to go through the whole process, which will be more work, and just thinking about it is reason enough not to want to go back.

Realistically, closing one's casino accounts when one is facing some difficulty because of gambling addiction or problem gambling should not be considered to be a big accomplishment, but rather the beginning of a long battle to reach one's rehabilitation and completely quit casinos and bookies.
Even if one's closes those accounts urges won't disappear out of the sudden, they will continue to crawl up to our mind and try to push us to re-open those accounts when we have some spare time to do so.
There is when our mental will power will get tested, so we won't easily relapse onto casino games.

This is a very nice decision, because just as you said, if you decided to leave it without closing it, I don't know for him, but my mind will push me back again, because it is still open and I can have access to it.
