Today with the rise of sports gambling, I'm wondering if more and more people are considering limiting their watch time to just games they can bet on.

There are some people who only pays attention to the type of sports they love watching, for instance there are people who loves putting their interests on wrestling and there are people who loves basketball and table tennis game so they usually developed much interest watching these games so that they could know what to bet the next time they are meeting again, same thing applicable to football because they put much interest to the top leagues they find interest on with or without much attention focused on the other games.

I used to be like that and only focus on the teams i'm betting on, but now i'd even watch other matches because I wanted to get familiar with most of the teams in the league. At one point there will be weeks with a rough schedule and it'll come in clutch when the stake gets higher near the end of the season.

With our local leagues, to me it just doesn't hit the same as the popular leagues. I also followed them for a few seasons, but slowly I lost interest and moved on to the ones I enjoy the most.

If you are into sportsbetting of a particular sports, I would say, it is indeed advisable to watch all games related to it not only with your favorite teams. This will give you insights about the performance of other teams and it can help you gauge the outcome of the game the next time they play. It is like you are getting the whole picture of the teams in that sports.

I think one thing we need to understand here is the fact that not all sport watchers/followers are actual gamblers. So, a rise In gambling platforms and activities doesn't necessarily affect or find ways to limit the number/type of games that people watch. And mind you, there are people who actually bet on games from different leagues that they don't even watch.

The footballing community is a massive one, and I personally don't think the number of actual gamblers are up to 50% of the total number of regular watchers_{(not exactly sure though)}, but I'm of the opinion that an increase in gambling activities doesn't affect how People in general watch the games. It's funny how I gamble once in a while, and sometimes include teams that I don't watch too often. This is literally like the reverse of the discussion, and a lot of people do this.

Well I don't really know, people are different, but where I stay people Watch sports for alot of other reasons even without gambling, you can have love for a team am and always want to watch them play even if they are not from your country or neighbourhood, for example alot of individuals supported Argentina because of different reasons including the love of Messi even if gambling doesn't come into your mind as long as you are a sport lover there are alot of reasons why people watch sports, to some gambling is just like a cherry on top the cake.

I do watch lots of matches, and I don’t even place bet on them. I don’t watch matches just because I want to place bet on those matches. I do see football as a form of entertainment, so whenever am watching football, am always having fun, so even if I don’t place bet, have been able to achieve something because have been able to make myself happy.

We should know that we are not suppose to place bet on all matches, some matches are just suppose to be for entertainment purposes alone, and it’s not necessary you even place bet on those matches. Actually, in my case, it often happens that I am enjoying the match but I have not placed a bet. And if I talk about this year's FIFA World Cup, then I have bet on many such matches and have also left some out. The most interesting thing here is that I did not take any bet on the final match. I bet 75% of my bets only on Sportsbetting. But in my case, except for a few important matches, most of the matches are not watched. I only enjoy watching the score updates on my mobile phone occasionally. However, the joy in watching the games of all the teams on which bets are taken is on a different level. When you enjoy the match of the team you bet on, you don't just enjoy the match, in this case, understanding every moment properly and the pace of the game changing every second means that my mental state also changes for that time. I like watching local leagues in our place since my friends are usually playing. There are no one in our place who initiate a gamble bet on early bracket on leagues but on the finals, people tend to bet on teams and I usually put some money into the teams that I like.

In my country there are big sports view centers where football lovers come and sit together, they pay some small entry fee and watch whatever game they may be interested in that is on for that day.
More than just for the reason in the OP, they do it for the socialization and banter and laughter and others. Some others do not even gamble it is just for the fun of it. So yes, but it depends on the individual.

I prefer watching matches of games I didn't bet on, and it's because of one reason, and that's because I easily get tense, especially when I have my money on that game.

And again it's impossible to even watch on games I bet on atleast not entirely all since I don't have a specific league I bet on, I just make my analysis on teams that are currently playing well, no matter the league and I make my stake and sometimes I bet on football matches on even Brazilian leagues and I can't watch those games so I just check the scores online and try to follow up.

Before gambling it’s always been about enjoying sport before the popularity of sport betting, so I consider it even normal to watch and follow up on any sports event irrespective of betting being allowed on it or not. The aspect which I consider not very normal is the revised betting on games which you don’t even have time for or can’t make time to follow up on, as I have seen most bettors do. At least betting and watching the game gives you that exciting feeling, especially when the result comes out positive; it’s more fun to me that way.

That's actually true, a lot of people prefer to watch a game when they put something on the line or stake an amount of money but that's because they are used to that or they probably don't have much interest in watching football games. Without a bet you are actually wrong to say no one cares because some people still enjoy watching without betting.

At the end of the day it is all about preference, I believe that there are some people that still enjoy watching a football game even without really staking on it.

Yes, im one of them. Its just that i enjoy watching and like forgot to bet lol or like just watching without betting. That's sometimes what im doing. But most of the times, i will bet on teams i know that will win and watch the game as well, regardlessvif they are my fav team/player or not.

Of course a gambler can decide to watch a team without betting on them maybe just to get familiar with the team just like you Said. And again gamblers can decide not to bet maybe due to the fact that they don't have money to gamble for the day or week, and then decide to watch them play. And I feel it's even going to be more fun than when they stake with money because they have nothing to loss the only thing they are expecting is for thier favorite team to win and even if they didn't win the match, it won't change anything. Although as for me I don't enjoy watching a team that I don't bet on, I see it as a waste of time unless I don't have anything to do. But even as that, I usually feel bored while watching a team I don't bet on.

I also can't deny that excitement whenever there's money on the line, but I wouldn't go that far to bet on a meaningless match since it's almost similar to betting on a friendly match.

To me, it's better to hold your units for a better match, though I can't blame you for going that far with your favorite team, as i've seen others have that level of loyalty to their teams and even place bets on crazier matches.

Maybe it's just me getting used to watching matches daily, so it's becoming tolerable even without bets. This doesn't mean I go out of my way to sit through all the matches. I only tune in whenever it matches my free time and have the broadcast on my other monitor.

No seriously, what's the passion behind watching a game that I don't have a stake on? Unless it's a tough competition that I need for my analysis/ or something related, I don't find any interest to watch them play. It feels like wasting my own time especially if there's something I could to add value to me, but I'm only watching others do their jobs and make their money. I don't really get the hype with being prompt about football matches.
