As an employer of labour, if what you prefer from your employee is fear rather than been loved then you don’t have the attributes of a good boss or employer..
Even statistics shows that, a most conducive and productive working environment take place when the boss or employer is more open to his or her employee, rather than been feared.. And when your employees are open to you, you’ll be able to get their opinions more often, and also you will be the first to hear when an issue arises that needs to be tackled urgently..

You are wrong, if a boss is played and not strict with their employers, they don't take the job with full hand. Check the stats again, you will see that boss that are strict with their job and don't play around tend to have successful business unlike the playful boss. However, I think if a boss want be strict they should be strick only the time of work and not when they are outside with their workers, if you are not playful when you are outside then it means you are not a boss.

Complement have a way it makes ones emotion want to do the job, it's not everything that is about money, you have to make the relationship even friendly even though you are tough and like I say in the first page of this post, I like to be complemented even though I don't get paid enough, it's those simple gesture that makes employees want to stay for the job when things are not doing well for the place of work but if it's about money, everyone will leave when the money doesn't come again.
I won’t say I’m entirely wrong man, the same way strictness helps, that is the same way being free helps. There should be a balance to it..
For the aspect of been strict, that should be done during work hours just as you’ve mention, but commendations and compliment shouldn’t be taken away during that same work hours, it’s needed to encourage the employees and shouldn’t be done after work, but during work.

Should workers always look forward to being complimented or encouraged by their employers?

I listened to some people have a conversation and were complaining about the attitude of their employer being too strict and not complimenting them whenever they do a task or complete a job. This had me thinking about the importance of such compliments and encouragements even asides the salary that the employer pays them for the job. Do you see this as also important because some people will prefer as bosses to be feared than to be loved. For you, what do you prefer? will you like to be loved as a boss or feared? , and do you see see compliments as important from an employer.

I would love to be loved rather than feared. Why feared? Am I a ghost or a witch? Lol.

For me, love rules the world, and love is the language for an easygoing work experience between the boss and the workers. Anyhow, there should always be a balance between everything. It's very much possible that while loving, you can still maintain your balance and respect as the boss. Of course, there are still rules that guides the workplace and the totality of your service. So I believe that workers can still obey the rules and keep a loving mindset for your boss, co workers and your work.

In a place where am the employer and my boss isn't appreciative, I wouldn't kill myself for it, yea. After all, I went there for the pay, not for the love. So long as he is not insulting and killing me, I wouldn't really care much. I also just have to understand that it's strictly work, and I should also abide by the rules always. It's as simple as that. But if am the boss, I would prefer to share love around rather than be too harsh, but still maintaining rules.

I don't support being feared but do you also know that if the employer is disciplined which can be viewed as being wicked by different persons, he can be feared, I agree that for an employer to get the desired out put from his employees, he must have a cordial relationship with them, I think we should also consider that he can be taken for granted easily if he doesn't show some attribute that he's the one in charge, all you pointed out are correct, but setting boundaries will also help, but among all you said, an employer should not be uneasy on his employees, they should be allowed to suggest things as it might help the company grow more.

A good manager and employer should give good guidance to their employees with part of that being praise when it is appropriate. Being too friendly or giving compliments too often can devalue them, so they should only be used in limited amounts - otherwise people get complacent or won't feel properly appreciated. I don't see workplaces that encourage nasty, bitter or aggressive behavior as nice environments. You're more likely to drive staff away or end up with people who call in sick because they cannot handle the stress of it, which is just an all round toxic environment which usually has lower productivity. If you have to rule by fear then you are setting a terrible example and are probably quite a weak leader that leans towards psychotic.

We should at least treat our employer with love and kindness so that they also enjoy working because everyone loves their own respect, so until we respect our employees, no one will use good words for our development. Employer always tries to be good in front of his boss and work honestly so that his boss is happy with his work and he uses good words for his employees. If you want progress and respect, then it is important to respect someone for this, but this does not mean that every time an employee makes a mistake, you should hit him. Although he can explain it to him nicely and lovingly for 2-3 mistakes and when he is not able to tolerate it, he can be strict with you, so that the employee will not make that mistake again. With this, each of your employees will say good words for you and the work they are doing for your development will start doing even better.

Yeah, mployers are supposed to show appreciation for the good work done by employees, and also to correct them with respect whenever they make mistakes. Because that will motivated them to do more work perfectly more than the employers expectation. In my opinion Compliment from employers is very important because it keeps workers strong and motivated them and also creates bonds between employees and employers to express themselves and make them feel at home. The best of all employers know when and where to compliment, sometimes even drop tokens to show how glad they are with their employees.

I see that compliments aren't important at all, they're just too superficial, in my opinion.. because if you're a worker, what you need is money, and compliments are nothing more than something unnecessary. People might say that compliments can motivate them to work even harder, but I see them as nothing more than empty words with no real meaning.. what a worker really needs is a bonus when they do a much better job or accomplish something truly satisfying, that's far more meaningful than mere compliments that have no impact on the bills and needs weighing on that worker's shoulders.

It’s okay for you to think this way and to entertain the idea that compliments don’t matter but, I think it actually does.

These are the little way to make people feel they belong. Ever wondered why some staff would prefer a job that pays less to a job that pays more? Of course they need the money but, you would feel a lot better working in a comfortable and warm environment where you feel like you belong than working in a toxic space where you don’t feel wanted, welcomed or appreciated.

This is what compliments help some employers to archive. It makes the staff have a sense of belonging and is being appreciated for the efforts they put in growing the brand. The money is necessary, bonus and what have you but, condition of work is equally very important and you can create these conducive environment aside from the structures you put in place through compliments.

In such cases, it's actually quite simple to understand because both employees and the boss who leads the company must be aware of and respect each other in all aspects of their work. This means that employees must realize that they work at the company not to expect mercy from their boss, but rather to advance the company and continuously increase its sales, without thinking they deserve to be treated gently and petted like they would be by their own parents at home. Likewise, company leaders must treat all employees equally and not like animals. They are also human beings who deserve to be treated with wisdom and respect, just like any other human being. Therefore, this must be mutually understood to maintain a healthy balance within the company.

Every human being deserves to be respected despite their status or social class. Treating employees like an animal will not bring growth and development to the company. Some employers will be forcing respect from their employees, feeling superior among them, but the truth is that you shouldn't be demanding respect, because it is impossible to demand respect, you have to earn it, through moral and behaviour, including kindness, generosity, showing appreciation, and so on. As you can see, respect is a reciprocal, if the employers respect their employees, the employees will also grant them a maximum respect and live in peace, and that will enhance the benefits, growth and development of their company or business. The employees will not expect their boss to pampered them like their parents would, but they should be these mutual understanding between the workers and the employees.

Have you seen funny pictures where employer announces that this year their company gained millions of profit, and to thank everyone for their involvement, company decided to compliment everyone with “thank you” email and free pizza with drinks. This picture describes how absurd and unfair whole situation is. A compliment from employer are part of working process. They are importand only to tell that employee is doing duties correctly.

Well I think on a normal day the boss should not be so strict and the same time be too playful or he doesn't correct, the middle ground is whereth business actually should be survive the most…I think from your reply it got me thinking about when I was still in some tech company some years ago, back then I had two bosses, one was too strict and people always ran away from him because he was too strict, and many staff stopped bringing ideas to him, and most projects failed because he was a jerk, and this own part of the company began to die slowly at some Points, and the funny part was that the boss thinks he’s maintaining standards but he’s actually chasing talent away.
