It takes time for their ego to break down the reality and that they are wrong about gambling in the first place - that they are losing money at their own mistake. Most people cannot accept a reality like this because to them everything they do is always good and what others do is bad.

Hence aggression is common and being able to counter that is one of the thing that people have to face who are taking care of them mostly the spouses and very close relatives.

Most often they are into the wrong notion that if they "p*ssy" out of the game they are going to lose and if they dont they are going to win a jackpot. This is wrong because the previous bet does not influence the next bet.

Addictive gambler - a gambler who always return because he has lost money (who would feel happy if he constantly lose money?) or because he wins but always dont feel like it is enough. These people are always unsatisfied with result.
Most of them including the extreme addict are not even aggressive towards others but more towards themselves because they always blame themselves for not quitting at the time they had the opportunity to doing so and at the same time try to recover their losses which still falls back to them regardless of the outcome of the game. In the real sense, we even have a lot of addict that are facing their battles on their own without letting a third party know it.

A gambler that shows an aggressive attitude towards others for the fact that he has lost consistently was prior to that time an aggressive person and just use that means to manifest his aggressive attitude. it is not always about the fact that he has lost in gambling or the issue of him being an addict.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?
First of all if you were in his shoe 👟 your would have been in the same mood. You know before someone became angry in gambling matters, he has lost a lot of money and there is no way such a gambler will be happy because all his mind is to win back his loses and recover from that state of mind. Therefore when you tell him to stop, for him, you are telling him to loss hope and he doesn't want to lose hope. In such situation, you don't ask him to stop gambling but to reduce the habit o he can focus on other things. As human we understand things differently and probably you statement was for his good but he understood it differently and became angry.

The reason is because they (addicted gamblers) already knows they're addicted to gamble and deep down in them they are pretty not happy about it . However, trying to talk some sense in them or any effort in making the said addicted gamber to understand what his getting himself into will be as if you are mocking him ( making fun of him) which is not true. Therefore, becoming more aggressive in maybe their actions or appearance help in chasing or scaring away friends from advising them.

A friend in need is definitely a friend indeed. I will always stand by him since he's going the wrong direction and he can barely save himself from the doom he has brought upon himself. I see know way is aggressiveness will stop me from telling him the truth.

You are right that the previous bet does not change the result of the next bet. But the real problem is, even if the addicted gambler knows it, he cannot apply that rule on himself. Just as a doctor never treats himself, but goes to another doctor. Tongue

Gambling addiction can affect people in various way but some common behaviors are often seen. Many addicted gamblers noticed to become defensive because they struggle to accept the fact that their habit is causing problems. They may feel that "stop gambling" means giving up the chance to recover their losses amount. However keep trying to recover losses usually makes the situation worse. I wouldn't simply ignore any of my friend’s addiction but I also wouldn't force them to change themselves because that can create more resistance. I would keep myself by their side and have honest conversations with them. real change is possible when they personally realize the problem and choose to change

I am trying to get something straight for here about those who are addicted to gambling do have same characteristics? I have a friend who is so much attached to gambling and everyone around him knows it was an addiction and when they try to talk to him in regarding the way and manned he is putting much interest to gambling he picks offences and stops to be talking to people because they are like trying to make him understand that his gambling habits is becoming excessive...
I don’t think there are any specific personality traits that every gambling addict has. But you can definitely see similar patterns of behavior. For example, someone might deny that there’s a problem, get angry when people bring up their gambling, or see any attempt to help as people interfering in their personal life. This is especially common when they’re not ready to admit that they’ve lost control.

At the same time, I wouldn’t exactly say we should just “let him keep gambling” either. You can’t control another adult or stop him from gambling if he really wants to. In the end, he has to make that decision himself. But you can make sure you’re not supporting his addiction — don’t lend him money to gamble, don’t pay off his gambling debts, and don’t help him hide the consequences from other people.

I’d simply let him know that I’m there for him if he ever decides he wants to change something.

Isn't it what it means to be aggressive for an addicted gambler? It is someone like me and you that are not addicted that we see it as something bad and not to do, because being aggressive does not change to situation when you have already settled your mind towards gambling as an entertainment and not an operation that you must accomplished by winning at any cost, the mentality everyone have towards gambling are different from each other, but I will still maintain my standard that being aggressive does not help in any way than to only frustrate us the more about gambling which is not pleasant enough.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?

I think the reason why most addicted gamblers are always aggressive towards their friends and family is because of frustration and the pain that comes with losing money. It's very hard for anyone who has lost a significant amount of money to be in a good mood. I've been there before, anytime I lose a reasonable amount of money to gambling it always affect my mood and whoever is around me at that moment.

And as for your friend, I don't think it will be a good idea to advise him right after he has lost money. At the moment he's probably overwhelmed with emotions and he will not listen to anyone. You can trying communicating with him whenever he's in a good mood. The truth is that every addicted gambler already knows that what he or she is doing is s very harmful and deep down many of them are already struggling and trying to stop.

Start your question by asking, where does aggression come from? Why does it occur and what factors make a person be aggressive? Most often, people who are unable to control their emotions are prone to aggression, and their excitement in games manifests itself as a result of damage to the nervous system or some kind of traumatic brain injury (for example, a concussion). A person who reacts very sharply and intolerantly to the environment can be expected to be very active in gambling, forgetting to control his game balance, and if he loses, he will blame everyone for his failure, completely ignoring what they are trying to explain to him. I have repeatedly expressed the opinion that people with abnormal mental health become addicted to gambling faster than those who approach the gaming process calmly, without haste and fuss, without making this activity a meaning in life.

It takes time for their ego to break down the reality and that they are wrong about gambling in the first place - that they are losing money at their own mistake. Most people cannot accept a reality like this because to them everything they do is always good and what others do is bad.

Most often they are into the wrong notion that if they "p*ssy" out of the game they are going to lose and if they dont they are going to win a jackpot. This is wrong because the previous bet does not influence the next bet.

Actually it is not just problem of ego. You can call it skewed judgment.

In fact, an addicted gambler consider his every loss as an investment.
He thinks that if he stop playing after losing then all his previous loss will be permanent. This sunk cost fallacy force him to play more.
And his small win creates such a reward signal in his brain that he can no longer identify the real probability.
So there's only one problem then, that every degenerate gambler keeps chasing their loses... Be it long-term, or just till whenever. Consider every loss as an investment? On what? My God, I'll never understand how people act so demented, but claim to have the all the knowledge in the world on something they will never achieve.
Edit:
A person who reacts very sharply and intolerantly to the environment can be expected to be very active in gambling, forgetting to control his game balance, and if he loses, he will blame everyone for his failure, completely ignoring what they are trying to explain to him. Look who I ran into for the second time today? Hehe.
On an average, how many people usually visit the psychiatric centers every month to test their mental health? I haven't done it in a long while as nothing poses any threat, but some haven't even heard of such. They don't know what going insane/abnormal mental health means--- it's either they're okay, or they are straight psycho (walking on the streets and eating from dumpsters)

It is hard to see an addict that is not aggressive, unless one that has a lot of money and as such his addiction is no problem to him financially. What causes those aggressions is lack, they loose even when they don't really have enough and still are unable to attend to their responsibilities because of lack of finances.

I had a neighbor who is very addicted to sports betting. He is always happy and rolls with the boys when he has funds but when he doesn't you would never see him outside and you can only hear his voice raised when his wife requests for money for house upkeep or when he beats his children at any slight provocation. I think addicts easily transfer aggression of their consistent loosing to their dear ones, it should not be so, but that is the reality.

A gambler that shows an aggressive attitude towards others for the fact that he has lost consistently was prior to that time an aggressive person and just use that means to manifest his aggressive attitude. it is not always about the fact that he has lost in gambling or the issue of him being an addict.

Losing consistently can also make him aggressive and that could lead to him losing his cool and then transferring the aggression to someone else at the moment there's nothing losing can not cause and when it happens often to a person in gambling the best way is to avoid them till they are calm unless they could become dangerous and cause harm to people around them without knowing what they have done. Addicted gamblers are always aggressive, they may not have anybody at heart but then they have lost they can become angry unnecessarily that's one thing they experience often.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?

Being aggressive has to do with personal character, their gambling activity contribute but it's largely depend on individual character. I know some few addicts that are very calm and ready to cry their eyes out when you're talking to them about their gambling activities as if they will never gamble again but once you're done advising them, they can go extra mile to gamble and lose everything losable. Some times, it also depends on how you talk to them about it. Not everyone is cool with being embarrassed in front of others about what they do or tolerate being talk to in a very harsh manner, it triggers their anger and become aggressive with their response. The best thing to do is to let them be when you noticed the sign.

No lovers are happy,  you can't be losing in gambling everyday and still remain the same, it will surely affect your mental health and behavior,  when you see an addicted gamblers always give them their ways,  don't do business with them or any deal that involves money. They might be very hard on you for nothing,  it's a mental issue.

That's why we keep speaking against the danger of addiction in gambling,  aggressiveness is one of it affects, if not well manged can lead to restiveness in the society.  Always look out to addicted gamblers,  they're not happy people,  learn how to deal with them, don't argue with them, don't fight with them. Trade with caution to avoid injury.

Do not get me wrong if I tell you that a loser is an angry man. What do you expect a man who has lost so much from gambling to do when he is struggling to see how he can recover his loses back. Do not expect a friendly tone from him while trying to convince him to turn away from gambling that easy because he would see you as an enemy of progress who want to resist him from making good profit if he is the type that is wholly dependent on gambling for survival.

If you are to do that, approach them in a calm manner and let them see the reasons why you are advising them to take caution while gambling so it doesn't do harm to them than they could imagine because they might not really know how bad it has damaged their sense of reason till it is too late for them to remedy their gambling lifestyle.

That is why I say that if you want to gamble, you must keep yourself calm and follow the strategy. A person who does not follow the strategy in gambling will definitely face addiction, just like your friend who is addicted, because of which he is not obliged to listen to others. Because other people tell him to stop gambling, because of which those words bother him, he must have become addicted to gambling.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?

If I could talk to him, I would definitely teach him strategies, no matter if he is addicted to gambling. The only strategy that plays the most effective role in overcoming gambling addiction is about money control, and if he loses or wins in gambling, I would tell him to rest after playing or winning.
The only strategy is to get him back from gambling addiction, of course he has to understand and be calm about gambling.

Not every gambler that's addicted acts like this, I would say that this is a little bit of an attitude problem first because some people a naturally stubborn, they find it offensive to take advice from others even when they know that they are going the wrong way. Another thing that makes them aggressive is the frustration the game come with.

Before approaching any gambling addict you must be smart enough to know if they would be aggravated when you try to give them advice, you can tell by their body language, how they respond when you initiate a conversation and so on but not everyone pays attention to all these details.

A lot of things can cause this aggression because most addicts are always in messy situations, it is either they are in debts or they lost they had, going through any of these makes them lose control over their emotions.

If he doesn't give importance, I won't force him. Or I won't try to convince him too much. If he suffers  loss, he will try to recover from the addiction. Because at these moments when someone becomes addicted to gambling, even if I explain something good to him, he doesn't take it well. If there was someone in my family or a person who listens to me or gives importance to me, I could have explained it to him and brought him back. And when no one gives importance to me , then I won't just put pressure on him and ruin the relationship with him. My responsibility is to tell my friend about the negative impact of it if he starts to get addicted, after that if he wants to come back on his own, it's his personal decision. I have seen many people who are so emotional at the beginning of their addiction that it is impossible to explain them in any way. When they are completely broke financially, they find a way to recover from the addiction on their own. If I can help him at that time, I think it is logical because he understands his mistake and wants to come back.

The easy thing is if they're your close friend or family and a gambler being aware of their excessive gambling is most times dependent on their mental acumen because sometimes this call to order is what some people just need to bring back a healthy balance in their gambling life. So the level of mental acumen will appreciate or raise quarrel with the help you try to offer. But altogether if they are family and friends that in one way or the other this connection and work together easily exists between you both, then their no point stopping the massage of them checking out on themself or doing self analysis except their is already a clear sign of let me be or don't disturb me attitude. In not stopping this massage of take care of yourself dear, at a point it has to strategic like not always but periodic and manner of approach.
