Not everyone is fond of taking advices from others, if I was in that position I will hear what others have to say and who knows it might be helpful for us, not to stop atleast to know where we are that can be a driving force to move forward. This is not particularly related to gambling but if they are addicted and when someone tries to talk them out of it, the most usual reply will be dismissive of what others say which is kind of the natural behaviour attributed to addiction.
When someone becomes addicted to something, he is no longer normal, he becomes completely abnormal. If that is the case with you, then you may not be able to live as before, because when you become addicted to something, you can no longer live like a normal person, you become a completely abnormal person. Let me give you an example. When I was in a love relationship with a girl, my family knew about this relationship. My family repeatedly forbade me from doing it, but I did not listen to them, because at that time I was addicted to her. Although they spoke very nice things to me, I felt very bad.
Obsession and addiction could be two different words but they can be very harmful to their victim because it's all leads to make the person loose sight of common sense and logic. But addiction is what's very dangerous because obsession can be momentary unlike addiction. For addiction to gambling it's generates a feeling of survival where you battling in your mind to win at each stake, for which every loss amounts to bitterness which makes the individual aggressive on recounting their losses as they seem them self as failures, and advise doesn't help at that point.

It's this aggressive self-confidence that gives them energy and strength, although in my opinion, players should be more modest and think first about how to avoid losing, and only then about other things, such as winning. Furthermore, I've noticed such players have a high opinion of themselves. Perhaps they just need to acknowledge this. This would be the first step toward developing a fast game, which also shouldn't be too modest. We need to find a middle ground and understand how exactly we can win.
But sourcing for winning doesn't mean they should be aggressive just like being too desperate of having to make winning, to be sincere this is what mostly contributes to how quickly they loses their games because they aren't on the right frame of mind.
The thing is, whenever they incur more loses it's better for them to distance or maybe quit at that moment when they might have come to their right senses then they may have the right mind or a kind of settled mind before gambling again, this could actually contribute 50 percent to their winning ratios.

Addicted gamblers seems aggressive because of the extreme financial and emotional stress they are passing through, stress of chasing losses .

This is where gamblers make a mistake because they gamble in a new situation and do not follow the strategy, as a result they lose their capital and try to recover that capital. Even if they take out a loan later, they make this mistake while gambling and later face addiction. This is their big mistake because gamblers become aggressive when they take out a loan, and they are also forced to flee their homes due to the debt council.

The losses they find themselves makes them panic and makes them more desperate to win also their losses has made them go bankrupt , highly indebted all these pressure leads them to always being aggressive since they have not gotten a way out.

That is why people do not like good things from others, gamblers who are addicted to gambling are reluctant to hear good things from others. They behave aggressively and suddenly behave badly with any person because their mental state is not good, gambling addiction has swallowed them up due to which gamblers have lost their personality.
I have had to flee from the residence of many addicted gamblers, so to stay away from gambling addiction, it is necessary to follow gambling strategies.

I am trying to get something straight for here about those who are addicted to gambling do have same characteristics? I have a friend who is so much attached to gambling and everyone around him knows it was an addiction and when they try to talk to him in regarding the way and manned he is putting much interest to gambling he picks offences and stops to be talking to people because they are like trying to make him understand that his gambling habits is becoming excessive.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?

I mean every person is going to do what they want to do at the end of the day. If he is a friend and you really care for his wellbeing sometimes bringing this up in the most subtle of ways is the best path moving forward but when that isnt a good option just confronting him head on will mostly never work as its taken more so judgemental and they wont want to listen. Its important to take a strategic approach with this type of gamblers especially if they are aggressive and passive

Actually this is base on my experience too when I do something is I need to focus on that thing until I finished what im doing so most of the time I do often speak to them that im busy, do not disturb me, if ever let me the one who approach you after the things I need to do. The same thing like you are playing your favorite game, you dont want to get distracted and wanted to focus in the game. Like what have you said is sometimes the emotions passes by to the person you have seen. So better talk them after or even try to check if they are in the mood or not. Sometimes you need to read the vibes if they are into it or not. Even you wanted to keep them talk about their gambling habit.

There is no way you will choose talking to an aggressive and a addicted gambler that he would try to show up that frustration in him as if you are the person that ask him to became addicted at the first place. Their must be a challenge that is for sure no doubt, and you most no bend down for him either all because you are trying to make him become useful to himself. However, all you need to do as a friend that's watching out for a friend is to approach him (the addicted/aggressive gambler) may for something else that you feel doesn't relate to gamble, just look for a way of making him comfortable, once that is achieved then you can bring in that topic of addiction and make him see raw reason why he should back off, this might also help.

People’s personalities differ—it can be like genetics—but when it comes to severe addiction, the emotional state of every gambler is likely the same. When players suffer many losses after spending a lot of time and money, their minds become completely out of control; they even become extremely sensitive when others speak in a way that seems to lecture them about their activities.
Gambling isn’t bad if it’s done with a clear purpose and goal.

If it was you would keep talking to him to reduce how he keeps gambling or you would allow him to continue gambling? And even if he is not paying attention to you?

It will be really difficult to bring back a person who once gets involved in gambling and becomes addicted. Basically, those who are addicted to gambling lose their mental balance a lot and do not pay much attention to reality. Gambling gets stuck in their brain in such a way that even if someone gives them good advice, they feel annoyed due to which they do not interact with people very much. When you go to give advice to a person addicted to gambling, he will not listen to you and if you ask him about gambling, he will sit and focus on himself and not on others. It is very difficult to come back from gambling addiction, although very few people come back, most of them become mentally ill. If you go to give good advice to a person who is addicted to gambling, if he cannot come out of it, then it is not possible to bring him back on the right path even after telling him a thousand times. Rather, if they cannot be gradually made to quit gambling, they may return, but it is not possible to completely quit it, so if they continue gambling in stages, it will be possible to come out of it gradually.

It's not useless idea to talk to an addict about their gambling addiction. Even when a gambler isn't ready to quit completely but talking about it serves an important purpose by reducing the damage
Open conversation  can lead to some practical step.
Such as,  set a  spending limits or a tight budget or handing over financial management to a trusted relative.
Dismissing discussion entirely leaves the addict without any safety net. Your advice could help him from instant damage. It could reduce crisis situation, and keeps the door open for professional help when they are finally ready to change.
I don't know, but I personally couldn't talk my cousin out of his gambling addiction. He was very stubborn about it and always insisted on it. I told him it would lead to him losing all his money, and then he'd have no choice but to borrow from friends to survive until payday. Maybe I'm just not talented at it. I don't deny it.
I approached him vaguely, hinting that he needed professional help for his gambling addiction. Gambling became a source of friction between us, and we haven't spoken for years. I don't even know what's happened to him now or how he's doing.

I think it's not a new thing anymore because that's exactly how they are. But as a friend, I think it's necessary to continue letting them know that they are not doing the right thing for themselves. Even though they don't listen to our advice, we just have to keep trying our best and hope that they can realize one day, because it wouldn't be a good idea to leave them in such a situation.

Someone who is addicted needs to be probably taken care of at all times. But that doesn't mean that you will kill yourself.

But in this case, the O.P never made mention of meeting the addicted gambler when he or she was gambling at the very spot, but he said he notice his friend always get upset when he tries to discuss issues relating to his irresponsible gambling behavior, of which it's obvious maybe this might have been his regular response to people who try to show their concerns for him. So it's obvious this is not a case of when playing your favorite game or not, because even if it's your favorite game, the moment it becomes an addiction, it's never a good approach to it, because every game is meant to be played with care and sense of responsibility, in other to avoid irresponsible or reckless spending of both time and money.

As from what I could come up with from such words obsession would have the impact of “I really want this” and while for addiction, it gives the impact of “I need this to feel okay” and you are very right addiction is a very dangerous one because from what any psychologists have mentioned it rewires the brains all the time, let's go back to gambling addiction which should be known as the deadliest, at first when a person is addicted to gambling it doesn't feel like a sickness it always feels like the right path to earn money till when the person notices he has lost alot…

And that feeling of having fun is no longer there and with time it would change to I have to win this stake by all possibilities and boom it would take your mind to fight mood any time you lose a bet…
