I don’t know what level of effect what they are doing is going to have in controlling underage gambling; I just believe that before they made that decision, it will be as a result of their differences in findings, which could have led to it.

On how effective it would be, in my opinion, I think not much. Have you seen the number of gambling ads that are shown during the halftime of a football match? There are gambling ads everywhere, and I do not think they should be removed entirely because the money they bring helps the game. I think the best way is still to teach the kids to stay away from gambling and gamble responsibly when they are old enough.

I remember they did the same with beer companies. Even though they were allowed to sponsor clubs, they couldn't put them on their shirt as shirt sponsors, which is a good thing in my opinion. Every betting company always has this "18+" or in their advert, not for persons under the age of 18. To me, this is enough disclaimer to those persons under the age of 18. Again, they are not totally removing the betting companies advertisement on the front of the jersey, they are to put it on either side of the arm shirt. I don't still think they will stop the advertisement. These betting companies generate lots of money for the clubs and league itself, so I don't think the club or league will be parting ways with these betting companies.

But to tell ourselves as reasonable adults, I personally don't believe that this policy will work as thought because wherever the gambling information is displayed in the shirts and made visible, definitely it will still carry the same effective influence if the information was located in the front.

These brands continues to remain major sponsors for clubs.

Should their logo be removed completely? I'm not sure except there's another way for sponsorship to happen and be promoted without sharing to the public the brand they represent.

It won't be of much significance because the logo still be on the jersey, not at the front but behind does not make a difference. If they want to stop underage gambling it's not going to be this way.

Basically, if the main goal is to minimize the impact of gambling exposure on minors, this is a good step, but in my opinion, it’s not very effective, because, after all, the logo will still be there and visible, just in a different place, and there’s no guarantee that minors won’t see it.

Underage gambling cannot be stopped this way because the younger ones barely watch football. If FIFA wants to stop underage gambling, the logos should not be displayed on the shirts.

For me, it's to keep the sport clean. Do also remember how much of a hype Mr. Beast's Feastable brand made when he bought the rights to be advertised on the patch of the Charlotte Hornets. That's just a small patch on the front of the jersey, and yet it made the trend. It may not be gambling ads but it does work.
It's noticeable, especially if a superstar is focused on the camera. So, I think whatever they decided in the Premier League was just a good measure to keep the sport clean and kid-friendly. Although there are still advertisements during commercials about gambling, I know that it can be turned off.

I think it will have a minimal effect on the exposure children and teens have to betting and gambling services widely available on the internet. In the end, the places were betting is mostly promoted is on social media, like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. This is rather an attempt from those teams to have some kind of moral high ground in the eyes of parents and conservative individuals of society, but in the end it does not change anything meaningful.

If it's just the front placing it's not allowed then there's still the logo that can be placed on other parts to advertise.

Camera angles are also shooting the behind and side by side so, it can still be seen and get exposure from different angles except in the front view.

And anyone who's familiar with the logo can easily distinguished it and whoever is curious with it will still get to search if ever want to know what brand that is.

I could remember this news back then but id didn't quite follow up the discussion on it in the forum as at then. Well, I could understand that the football association is trying their possible best to mitigate gambling sports addiction across our society but I don't see how this move of theirs could be so effective in as much as it's not a total ban of gambling platforms logo on the jersey shirt entirely but just the front of it.
Placing it at the back it's for me gonna make it worsen because that's where players names are printed and every viewers sure wanna know the name of the players they're viewing on screen, and that's an easy way to view a gambling logo placed at the back of the jersey also.

This approach is one of the best ones and it is one that is very recommendable more than the approach FIFA is trying to use now. I also commends FIFA’s approach but the effectiveness of what they’re doing it for is what I don’t think will be guaranteed. Family are the first stage of socialisation of a child and if the parents have failed in that aspect to tell or teach them the good and the wrongs and the society puts it into the children, it will be very hard for such children to get their feet back again and do as the parents require of them. Children access to gambling site are mostly due to negligence of the parent and if this is not stopped and only this FIFA’s approach is implemented, it is like cutting grass from the top without removing the root, it’ll still grow again.

Honestly, I think this will only reduce the amount of sponsorship money that clubs receive from shirt advertising. The ads themselves will simply move somewhere else and continue having the same overall impact.
I do think it is worthwhile to make efforts to reduce or control who is exposed to gambling advertisements, but regulators will need to do much more if they really want to achieve that goal. To begin with, they need to create smarter laws and restrictions.

Here in Brazil, for example, gambling websites are heavily advertised on television, and I imagine it is probably the same where you live. So, are there perhaps other interests behind these poorly designed laws?

 Their intentions are pure but if they think the display name on player shirts help encourage underage betting then they should remove it completely instead of displaying it on other parts of the shirt. I remember reading news about this years ago. There were complaints from football clubs about losing significant support from generous sponsors, particularly gambling companies. Gambling sponsorship means a lot to their teams.

Perhaps what's happening now is the compromise, some sort of a middle ground. No more displaying gambling sites at the front part of the shirts but it could be done somewhere else.

I think this is a great bargain for both parties. The influence of the gambling logos to the viewers is minimized a lot. Visibility is greatly reduced, but not completely removed. In a way, this is a win-win for both regulators and football clubs.
