So tell me what is the most effective step for underage protection?
I agree that just seeing the name does not awaken gambling spirit. You and I understand this issue well because we are adults. But will children understand all this?
I will say that in the case of underage, repeated brand definitely create exposure normalization. I think when children see betting logo on chest of their favorite player then they can think of that brand as trusted.
And we cannot say it only increases popularity for existing user. Of course, these also reach the new generation.
The first and basic method for this is to avoid exposure. Some people that don't understand how these things work and never read scientific articles assign wrong priorities for these things and sometimes they may say that education is the most important thing, but that is false. Children who are very educated about gambling but are exposed to many kinds of advertisement will still become gamblers, that is how this works. So first there must be minimum or no exposure if possible at all. Second come technological restrictions and last come education. When you have all these 3 measures working together you can get a very effective measure against preventing children from becoming future addicts and gamblers. But we also have to consider that many games have gambling features like loot boxes, so just reducing exposure to casinos is not enough. All of those things have to be banned to prevent their brains from being programmed to like gambling processes.

This is a welcome development but I think this wouldn't really go that far in fighting the rate of gambling because even if it's not written boldly on the jersey, it would still be written somewhere around it which doesn't make much difference and secondly, it still would be written and shown on those stadium advertising boards which to me is more catchy than even the jersey. Secondly, with the rate of how the younger generation have been exposed to internet, the fight against gambling is already becoming a very difficult one as there's always a gambling pop up advert on the internet.

It was a long time coming because it was getting ridiculous, probably more than 50% of the Premier League had main shirt sponsors that were gambling companies and a crackdown was long overdue. This has a massive adult following but there are plenty of kids watching their sporting idols run around with these companies emblazoned on them, it was creating a whole new generation who think about gambling the wrong way. They are going to secondary sponsors now and will still have advertising around the pitch, but that is likely to be targeted out next. The trouble is these sponsors are spending so much they support the crazy wages that footballers are demanding, so the government is likely to get a lot of pushback from clubs who need that revenue source.

I don't think so it will make any difference because the logos are still visible to others as it is available on the back or other parts of the shirt. If there only goal is to reduce the exposure of gambling in children then a proper strategy is needed for them like apply strict limits on gambling ads whether it is on tv or social media and a proper education about the damage and impact and also risk of gambling because human nature sometimes works in the opposite when people are told not to do something many became more curious and want to try it.

If players are matching out to play, it is the front of the jersey you will see first, if the player even start playing that is where attention go to. Since the front shitrt receives more attention, banning that gambling logo from displaying there can reduce the amount of exposure for young fan. And hell no, gambling company are not the reason why league existed. League has long been existing and successful before betting companies came along. This step will really work, I believe it wil.

As far as I understand, this ban is aimed at protecting children. At least, that's how it was originally intended. 🙋
Children love wearing replica jerseys of their favorite football players. Parents buy them these jerseys. As a result, children end up wearing online casino logos on their chests, which isn't very good (since it's generally believed that minors shouldn't be involved in gambling).
The ban helps solve this problem. Moreover, European football has implemented this self-imposed restriction for strategic reasons. It's better to impose such a ban on its own than to wait for European officials to completely ban gambling advertising. It's better to sacrifice less for more. It makes sense. 💁

Honestly, I think it is a good development because it will help prevent young people from being exposed to gambling companies. Since football is not meant only for adults, but is also a game that young people find very interesting. Apart from jerseys, there are other visible places where casino ads are also displayed, though I don't know if this too has been banned from display. In your opinion, how effective do you think this move will be to achieve the aim it is for since names and logos of gambling companies will still be branded visibly at other areas of the matchday shirts?
I think it should be totally banned from being displayed on the jerseys of clubs because even if it isn’t at the front, in any place on the clothing it can also be visible.

If the removal of betting companies in front of jersey on match day is to reduce the rate of the underage gambling, I think it won't really help this situation, instead enacting a law, and enforcing it will be more helpful. Underaged gambling is really a problem in our society today, some children are gambling to make money from it even up to the local level, while some children are also gambling just to support their teams. Allowing underaged children to gamble can be very harmful to them, because they actually lack the control to make good decision themselves, and can easily get addicted. Government should take it as a point of duty to put to stop underaged gambling, and without government enforcing such law, it will be a difficult task to achieve it.

The consideration may be in terms of size because to be on the sleeve at least it will not be too big different from being on the front of the jersey (body) so maybe this is another consideration because they know that currently for gambling sponsors in EPL clubs it is like a basic need because most clubs are supported from sponsorship income that comes from gambling. Some clubs are starting to change partnerships but there are also those who are still making this as sponsors and who I know are currently Everton and Aston Villa who are moving their sponsorship to the arm area. West Ham are actually also planning to do this because their partnership with BOYLE Esport is still ongoing but because they have been relegated and currently only the Premier League applies the rules (not with the division below) then they still show Sponsorship in the front area of their jersey.
What I don't understand here is why only clubs in the Premier League apply this rule but not with the EFL or lower divisions because currently some clubs from the Championship also have gambling sponsors?

Honestly, Real Madrid's BWIN logo was the reason why I visited a betting website for the first time in my life when I was a kid. I always thought, what is this bwin and one time I decided to visit the website but I didn't start betting because of that, I simply viewed the website and that's it. I'm also shocked that almost the whole world is against casinos and sports betting because these companies generate tons of money and pay tons of money in taxes, so it doesn't make any sense. If someone wants to gamble, there is always Google available that will suggest them these websites. By the way, whether these restrictions will play a role into achieving the aim of reducing the number of gamblers and bettors, that can be answered by marketing specialists of these casinos but I'm sure they'll find another way, they'll promote via websites and other methods, like streamers and so on.

If reducing the attention of betting companies to teenage fans is the main reason why the officials of the premier League is planning of removing the names of casino logos on the chest of players, then it is understandable, since their chest usually grabs the most attention. Because I was thinking maybe the ban was aimed at eradicating betting platform exposure on live matches entirely. Of which you and I know that such will not be very possible, because in most stadiums, the banners of betting platforms are usually placed at strategic locations in the stadium, and if they are to eradicate it entirely, it will cost huge sum trying to remove and replace those Sport betting banners, and likewise in players dressing and relaxing room. However, it's still a welcome development.

While this might be of a good and genuine motive and the fact that exposure is one way to project gambling to the masses, I don’t think the most comes off having gambling logos on the shirts of football clubs. There is just a handful of them in the EPL and Championship like, Stakes - Everton, Rollbit - Southampton. These are actually passive for most fans as it adds to the aesthetics of the shirt but, their minds are more focused on the game and thrills it comes with. Where the more exposure comes in is from the halftime breaks when these gambling casinos and sites gets to run their promos and offers. I don’t even want to give any attention to the L

People who are underaged are not meant to gamble, possibly children below the age of 18 years as stated in the terms and conditions of many gambling platforms, but it is not actually working because their is no enforcement of this law. Today in many countries, underaged people do gamble, both online, and in shops, but if the law is enforced, and children who are underaged are punished for gambling, children who are underaged will entertain fear , and possibly desist from gambling.
Betting companies appears in front of jerseys as a way of promoting the betting companies, and not for children who are underage to engage in gambling, and honestly enforcement is the only strategy I think can solve this problem, and not prohibiting teams from promoting betting companies.

People who are underaged are not meant to gamble, possibly children below the age of 18 years as stated in the terms and conditions of many gambling platforms, those rules and regulation of gambling there are formalities, what casino or any gambling website need is for people that will patronize them, sometimes they do notice that someone is under age through the kyc verification but they will still verify the person based on the person patronize them a lot, so everything about gambling is not trustworthy there are bringing Lord that we favor them not yours but it is not actually working because their is no enforcement of this law. Today in many countries, underaged people do gamble, both online, exactly this is what I'm saying because it's not that gambling platforms does not see underage below 18 years participating in gambling but they will still allow them because what they need from their players is their funds, so looking at it very well you can see that most of the gambling plant form just make a law because they needed a law that government will approve before they operate, without it I don't think that the gambling platform would have have a law they abide on

The only way in my opinion, correct me if I'm wrong, is to educate kids. I'm not a mother, so i don't know how i would have done it, but the game is all played there. If you teach them that there are no loopholes in the world, that there are no shortcuts, they will understand very well that gambling is not a quick way to make money.

For me, it is a good initiative, since their motive is to limit exposure of under age children to gambling advertisements during football matches. Because it's not longer a hidden something that under age children are going into gambling activities, and now that the world is digital children can easily get access gambling platforms and start gambling without their parents knowing. Frankly speaking, I can't tell how effective this would be but I believe the organization in charge will ensure that all football clubs keep to the new rule. Beside they didn't ban football clubs from displaying gambling platforms on their shirts, they only ban them from displaying them in front of their shirts.

I think just writing 18+ doesn't end the responsibility. Because repeated exposure is an advertisement in itself. Repeatedly seeing the logo starts to seem natural and socially acceptable even if no one bets right away.
On the other hand clubs receive large amount of income from sponsorship, so it is not realistic to think that advertising will be completely stopped. So it doesn't matter if casino says 18+ or not. Rather we havew to ensure how to bring balance between commercial incentive and public health. Moving it out of the front and into less visible place is compromise in that direction. However someone should make a documentary on this to understand the impact it will have.
Personally, I think that very disclaimer is enough to wade off teens who hasn't yet attained the age of young adults which I think is the legal age in most countries to be eligible for gambling. I believe the responsibility of them playing no longer lies in their hands but to those who these teens are in their care and possibly the teens themselves. Alcohol has their adverts, we watch football and during advert time, we see Budweiser, Heineken, Guinness etc all displayed in the ad breaks and we know there's also a disclaimer, not to be taken for persons under 18, this is enough warning for me and if you feel you want to take them be ready to take full responsibility for aftermath. It's as simple as this to me.

What about the arm region? It is even more visible all the time than the chest area or the whole front but the law only banned the front side? I don't understand why they are banning when they are the reason for the existense of these league, instead they can teach or even make some kind of extensive awareness video about gambling and force everyone who want to watch the game. The worst area would definitely be the back, because when players turn their backs, there is full focus on their shirts as compared to their front which their facial appearance can be a bit of a distraction. Gambling and the game cannot be separated, in fact, the games have received a major economic boost due to gambling since these casinos sponsors these clubs, so they cannot be detached. Children have other places they can see these ads online, the shirts aren't the major threat IMO. I agree with you that more sensitization and awareness, coupled with parental controls can have a better impact than removing the casinos logo in the front part of football shirts

People usually under-estimate the intelligence of teens and children when comes to bypassing obstacles which are supposed to prevent them from gambling, smoking or even consuming alcohol. I remember when I was a teen, there were some guys of my age which smoked and even gambled/played cards in our school. If someone (teens included) actually want to gamble, they will find a way to do so, they right thing to do by both bookies, casinos and regulators is to make things as difficult as possible for those kids to gamble away the money of their parents and possibly getting addicted to gambling at a very young age.
