This decision does not seem really effective if it just shifts the logo to another part of the shirt, since it will still get shown on camera during the whole match. Also the ad boards on the side of the pitch still show gambling ads very clearly the whole game. If the real goal is to protect kids from gambling exposure, the rule should probably be made stricter not just about where the logo sits on the jersey.
The rules I read ads on adboard are not discussed so there are no advertising changes here, meaning the rules ban gambling brand logos on their jerseys on a voluntary basis whereby some clubs agree to withdraw gambling main sponsors.

No complaints from the club.

About Stake, the case looks similar. They are still a sponsor for Everton, but the logo is no longer in the middle of the shirt it moved to another spot, and the main front position is now taken by a non gambling sponsor because of the new rule.
Well this, by no longer plastered on the front of the jersey will it reduce their contract budget?
I see in this article there are several English Premier League clubs that are facing budget deficits because gambling is no longer the main sponsor, whereas before it was a big income.

Under age children are now going into gambling activities without the knowledge of their parents, and most of them saw those gambling platforms on the shirts of football teams. Therefore, if only the new rule would be effective it will help in reducing gambling platforms advertisements during football matches. Kodus to who ever brought that idea, to ban football teams from displaying gambling platforms in front of their shirts.

What about the arm region? It is even more visible all the time than the chest area or the whole front but the law only banned the front side? I don't understand why they are banning when they are the reason for the existense of these league, instead they can teach or even make some kind of extensive awareness video about gambling and force everyone who want to watch the game. Roll Eyes
And if they want to do something, they should do it completely; let the result be analysed. Banning one part of the shirt to not allow the betting company name to be displayed while other parts viewers can still see from their perspective won’t hold much effect. We know betting companies are part of the major sponsors; they should focus on educating rather than this type of ban.

Due to betting companies being part of the major sponsors of clubs, that's why it feels hard for the Premier League to give them a complete ban from displaying on the jerseys of football clubs in UK leagues.

Betting companies need to market or make their presence felt in global football. In which they do that mainly through clubs. They can't be silent without, in a way considering them, because of the millions of dollars they spend on partnerships with clubs

I still think the solution is education not any kind of censorship.  Its fair that the audience in this case is all ages so perhaps the measures make sense but the main advantage of good education is preventing the fallacy of seeing a gamble as a get rich scheme or any other easy route.   We used to learn probability in a basic way even in first years of school as part of maths, its important to build that knowledge and good attitude so kids dont grow up thinking its all magic out of their hands making them vulnerable to all kinds of business not even just gambling.

It is still better if gambling advertisements are placed in the right venues. When people see them everywhere, gambling can slowly become normalized and may even look like part of everyday life.

The main concern is protecting people who should not be gambling, especially minors. Young fans look up to athletes, so when they constantly see gambling brands on jerseys or during games, they may become curious and start viewing gambling as something harmless. So I think this is the right decision. It is not really about banning gambling, but about limiting where it can be promoted. I also don’t think it will seriously hurt the industry because gambling continues to grow even with stricter advertising rules.

In my opinion it is always a good move to not put something such as this entirely front and center for everyone to see and I think it will be a good outcome in the next season to protect younger folks and keep the game focused on what it is and not on the sponsors

Banning was don here not because they want to completely remove gambling but because they want to be reduce visibility is those prominent places. Real honesty here, that front of the shirt is just like the place where plenty fan attention goes to. If players are matching out to play, it is the front of the jersey you will see first, if the player even start playing that is where attention go to.

Since the front shitrt receives more attention, banning that gambling logo from displaying there can reduce the amount of exposure for young fan. And hell no, gambling company are not the reason why league existed. League has long been existing and successful before betting companies came along. This step will really work, I believe it wil.

They want to reduce the exposure but not a complete ban that is not what I don't understand. If they want to stop then ban them completely and if not don't, make life harder for those brands without making any real change. I don't believe this will reduce any underage gambling, whereas less exposure to actual casinos will lead users to end up on fake casinos.

Regardless of whether the gambling logo is small or large, people will still notice it. But if they make it too small, then what is the point of putting it on the team’s shirt? The casino will not really benefit from an advertisement that is almost hidden. So it may be better not to place it there at all. If they want to promote a gambling brand, there is no point in trying to hide it.

But I think the main issue is still the regulation in that country. Maybe gambling ads were banned or restricted, so teams are only allowed to display them in a limited way. From what I have seen, though, many of the teams still seem to have gambling-related sponsors.

I agree that gambling should not be promoted on the pitch. I’m even more concerned about promoting gambling banners on fifa games on PlayStation and xbox because kids below 18 years old spend long hours on video games and are indirectly exposed to these gambling platforms at an early age but sadly many parents are not aware of this.

The agreement that clubs had in 2023 to stop the display of names of betting companies' logos at the front of their matchday shirts will take effect from the new season. Names and logos of betting companies can fit into any other place in the shirt, not just the front.

The major reason for this development is to help control and reduce exposure of the underage to gambling advertisements through football games.

In your opinion, how effective do you think this move will be to achieve the aim it is for since names and logos of gambling companies will still be branded visibly at other areas of the matchday shirts?
This new development does not change anything if you ask me, if the Logo is removed from the front of the Tshirt and change to another position of Same shirt it doesn't still change anything, it will still be visible and People will be curious to know, and it will still make the betting company more popular when people see it. Underage people can still get addicted to Gambling through exposure of internet. I just wounder if removing Logo and name on front of Tshirts is just the only way to avoid exposure to Gambling by underage.

As far as I understand, this ban is aimed at protecting children. At least, that's how it was originally intended. 🙋

Children love wearing replica jerseys of their favorite football players. Parents buy them these jerseys. As a result, children end up wearing online casino logos on their chests, which isn't very good (since it's generally believed that minors shouldn't be involved in gambling).

The ban helps solve this problem. Moreover, European football has implemented this self-imposed restriction for strategic reasons. It's better to impose such a ban on its own than to wait for European officials to completely ban gambling advertising. It's better to sacrifice less for more. It makes sense. 💁
Oh, really? I am really interested to be convinced how this strategy psychologically works and I demands an illustration it that only will make me learn better about how this ban can be effective to restrict or controls underages from involving in gambling.

I am also wondering how those who had also been exposed to gambling will be influenced by this mere non-displayment of gambling adverts in front of the football jerseys.
I am also skeptical about how this new policy will work effectively because if this strategy is aimed due to the love for kids wearing the jerseys of their favourite, then what happens when they take off the shirt? I am sure the gambling logo will definitely be visible wheresoever it is located.

Maybe this ideal is beyond and involves highly psychological understanding.
