You made a mistake bro, You shouldn't have used an exchanges deposit address to receive payments from signeture campaign. now that the exchange closes the deposit feature which is why you need to change the address in signeture campaign sheet for future paymens.
What will you do if campaign manager ask you to sign a massage from that exchange address? You should've use at least one extra address Incase you need to prove yourself by signing a massage.

-snip-
Anyone contacting you about recovering your funds is a scammer.
Good advice, scammer especially terget desperate users like OP.

Luckily for the OP, I no think say any manager go ask you say make you sign message if you wan change your receiving address for your campaign. But that thing fit be issue if to say people dey suspect say the account don change hand. Na why e good say make you stake your bitcoin address for forum to avoid wahala.

Bitmart has existed for long, offering many crypto features including their Bitpay card. I got to know Bitmart because of their launchpad that pays well if you are an earlier at that time. To hear the news of shutting down is alarming because I never expected them to shutdown so soon but to be clear, Bitmart trading volume in recent time has gradually reduced.

They were suppose to send us a mail to inform us of them shutting down, I'm so angry right now because I have just lost my Bitcoin.
Don't act like you don't know how who have ownership over your coins when its left in a custodian wallet? Not your keys, not your coins.
Bitmart made announcement on the shutdown. Maybe you weren't subscribed to receive newsletter? Some people I knew said they received an email.

please everyone should avoid and stop using Bitmart
I stopped using Bitmart for a very long time.
Bitmart had so many unnecessary security levels, I don't know about now.
Well, among the exchanges I've used Bitmart is the worst.
Surprisingly they exist for only 9 years while other exchanges have been here for long yet without creating a bad reputation for themselves.

I created a thread to inform people of the latest development in Bitmart, I don't know if you came across that, I guess not cause if you did you won't have sent funds to your wallet there. You can complain to their customer service or heed to IceLincoln's advice. You acted out of ignorance and they may use that against you.
This is why I've been advising people to embrace self custody cause third party wallets are not trusted anything can happen. I hope more people who use that exchange would get informed of the shutdown and avoid making same mistake you made out of ignorance.

Mistakes can happen to anyone. Don't call the mistake of our brother to be ignorance of something he is not aware of, on time. Cause I believe that if he is aware that Bitmart has shut down, he won't think of sending his Bitcoin to the exchange; he would have sought another alternative.

What our brother needs at this time is not our blame, cause already he has been feeling that way, to blame himself for not being aware of all this happening with Bitmart on time. It's heartbreaking for someone to lose money he or she didn't bargain for.

This is why i like the local board and also set notifications for new threads on the local board because any information concerning exchange wallets are always made in the local board as soon as the information gets to someone. But however, the exchange is supposed to send mail across to all their customers instead of making the post on their social media platform.

People will always ignore signs till dey see wonders. Many times we have highlighted the importance of using a self-custody wallet but some people will still think that they will be smart enough to receive coins on exchanges and convert it immediately but they forget that 'dining with the devil requires a long spoon'.

Dude, not being aware simply mean ignorance so were saying the same thing although you seem confused about my statement, moreover I didn't say that he doesn't know what he's doing but that he was ignorant of the information which was why he sent his coin to Bitmart exchange.
The mistake has been done and he must have learnt from it, I just hope that he'll learn from this experience and embrace self custody like i advised before. Bitmart too messed up, they should've emailed every customer instead of uploading it on their X,account alone.

Actually, I have a Bittmart account, but I have not made a single deposit on the exchange because I have learned that I will not be in control of my assets if I begin to use it to store my coins. As for me, I will say that they published their warning very late, that's why many people are in this mess. They would have posted this earlier so that a lot of people would know that they would be shutting down soon. Those who weren't aware of this made a deposit unknowingly, they all hoped to receive their assets, but they didn't get a dime. Funny enough, it looks like both those who made deposits and those who are about to withdraw their funds are having issues, and it's really bad. They should  st least allow withdrawals.

On my earlier post I said they normally send mails for this kind of situations, maybe you didn’t get and I advised you tag their account on X but the account that replied you is definitely not their account. The main account should have a blue tick and millions of followers.
I’m assuming they’re having a congested network, so with time they’ll resolve it or not, prepare your mind for the outcome while still trying to get back your money.

Yeah you are right because a big exchange like bitmart wouldn't have a small followers on there official support social media accounts so is definitely not the exchange that was replying op but an imposter and scammer, besides it was an also unverified account so actually all this things are very convincing that it was a disguising account. Although op could might recover his Bitcoin when they come back because it might just be hanging and pending to when deposit will resume on there exchange but however I don't no if op have reviewed the Bitcoin address after the transfer to really check if there was not a mistake.

Oh sorry for what you’re feeling now but it’s not entirely the fault of Bitmart. They sent out messages and posts since before 21st and there was a thread raised here in the local board about it. You missed out on all this informations, you probably don’t check your mails often too cos I guess if you’re using their services they must have sent one.
What do you mean by it is not their fault are they supposed to just put out the information of there shutting down only on their X account, are they not suppose to send a mail to all their customers telling them or informing them of there shutting down, for crying out loud and exchange is just like a bank that involves financial transactions they hold money for people and if they want to shut down they should send a mail to their customers informing them of their decision.
What will become of their customers that are not using X, how will they see the information.

Bitmart knew that if they don't send their customers a mail and if they put it on there X account alone a lot of there customers won't see it, I believe they did this on purpose just to defraud some of their customers.

I'm telling you they didn't send me any mail or did they send you a mail please post it here.
The deal has already been done and their is no point arguing over it. Bitmart didn't do well at their own end, perhaps sending a mail to their customers would have been helpful, although I can't be too sure since I'm not making use of it to confirm if  they send or not, but if it's true they didn't then it's bad. Haven't said that, what should be done at this point is to trying reaching them on their contact centre or if that isn't okay by you, you can try complaining to them via any of their social media handles. Perhaps reaching them in any of these above mentions will help solve it half way, I just which something good comes out from it. Please don't be too hard, just take it easy on yourself.

Sorry about that. It's not easy at all, because this kind of thing can make person run mad if the person didn't hold himself. But just like they always say, we shouldn't let has already happened bother us too much. That's the simple truth about it, because thinking it too much wouldn't do us any good, it will only hurt us more. Although it's not easy to lose something very big like Bitcoin, I think it's necessary to move on regardless of the amount.

I could fell his pain even with saying much about it, and it is very heard to forget such experience or take it off heart as it will continue to reflect in the mind. I would advise those to get paid directly to there exchange account should stop no matter how confident one is about the exchange used at that time, just like OP has been using it until this happened. Take heart and I hope this would serve as a lesson to othe people too to learn from it

I don’t know it this will be helpful but you can tag them on X and lay your Complaint there, I know people get faster response tagging big companies on X.
This has to do with money and I don't want to make op feel more bad and uncomfortable than his already feeling and you already said it all because at this point, we wouldn't have to blame them for his own careless and just as you already suggested that he should contact them on x, I believe they would easily respond to him over there and that's if they're still active and I don't even think they have an active thread over here, so op you should trying reaching them on all their social media platforms and not just relying on one but I doubt I'd it might be easily resolved but I wish you luck op.

Too bad we got the information before you, i think you should have learnt a lesson not to receive signature payments through centralized exchanges, this has been communicated severally on the general board. Always use a non-custodial wallet, fees are cheap, it won't cost you anything serious to pay a fee less than $1, it will save you from common losses like this.
You're missing the point,op didn't said that he was using bitmart direct to receive his signature campaign payment rather he was using them to sell his bitcoin through their P2P services. But it's so unfortunate that his payment has been trap with the exchange and they plan to shut down by September. So it's a 50/50 for op as there is no guarantee that he will get his money back before they finally shut down. I think bitmart didn't do much to ensure none of their clients get affected as they should have send out messages through SMS, WhatsApp and email to inform their clients.  if they had done that OP would have used a different exchange instead.

It is unfortunate that this has to happen man, I'm so sorry about the whole thing, this look like a shady character by this exchanges, why will any reputable exchanges keep their customers in the dark, even if there were some things they can not handle any more based the government policies or whatever that made them decide to leave the cryptocurrency space, they  were supposed to communicate their customers first and make sure that customer withdraw their funds from their platform, the whole thing is looking like an ntentional stuff, who knows, they might have been planning for this ,for a long time, although since they said they are shutting down by September, let's see if they funds that are trapped for now will be released before then.

The OP may probably lose this money after his many efforts to get it back cause for the exchange not to have sent customised mails to all her users makes it look like it was intentional. Announcing on social media doesn’t remove them from that responsibility. I just hope OP gets his money back in the end.

For the other guy, receiving signature payments through an exchange is not so bad, where might be bad is when you decide to hold your funds there. People who use exchanges have to be very vigilant as well, never leave anything to chance.
P/S:  Wallets do take more than $1, though that’s insignificant

BitMart is registered in the Cayman Islands with representatives in the US and Asia. They might end up settling all their customers in the US and other advanced countries before focusing on developing nations. Regulators in developed countries can put pressure on the exchange to settle users from their countries. Sadly we have a regulatory body that cannot fight for Nigerians. You might even be arrested and tagged a fraudster if you report to authorities that your money is withheld in Bitmart.

FTX ensured that all US users got back their deposits, and I don't know if others in other locations also received their money. This might be why we need an effective indigenous exchange and fully licensed foreign exchanges in Nigeria.

Those people has never fought for the citizens they only care about what they'll benefit so citizens shouldn't hope on them so it doesn't attract more disappointment, I urge the OP to be patient cause the deadline for withdrawal is not yet over, I checked it on their social media platform and it's still a bit far from now.

I lost hope in the government, authorities and regulatory bodies for long that's why I'm very careful not to land myself in situations whereby their help would be needed cause at the end i might be the suspect and apprehended for seeking help. We the citizens of this country are so unfortunate with bad governance, i wonder when it would end.
